Definitions

  • the invention relates to a connector half, such as socket or plug, preferably for audio miniature connectors according to the preamble of claim 1.
  • Audio miniature plugs or sockets have long been known in practice. They are available as so-called pin-socket connectors or as pressure contact connectors. To connect the cables, solder pins or funnels or so-called crimp connections are often provided on the back of the connector. With increasing miniaturization on the one hand and increasing pole density on the other hand, it is becoming increasingly difficult to solder or crimp the wire ends of a cable. The middle contacts in particular are difficult to access. This problem is exacerbated if any filter elements are to be provided between the wire ends of the cables and the connections of the connector.
  • a generic connector is known from FR-A-2557381, in which a pin contact is inserted into a contact element which has a connecting tube side.
  • the pin leads through bores a capacitive block held in a housing and a further capacitive block arranged parallel to it. Between the two capacitive blocks is a device surrounding the pin and one between the device arranged in both blocks. The devices are said to induce inductance on the pins, which makes it possible to form ⁇ filters.
  • the audio miniature connectors are assembled as so-called filter connectors to filter out certain signals during transmission.
  • Such filter plugs often have filter elements which are designed as individual filter tubes which are provided at least at one end with connecting pins and whose lateral surfaces are connected to the housing of the connector half by a common ground disk.
  • the connecting tubes of the cable connection side have a plurality of radially inwardly directed spring tongues distributed over the circumference on their inner wall and if the filter tubes with their connecting pins are individually replaceable in the connecting tubes of the cable connection side of the connector half.
  • the fact that the filter tubes are held in a force-fitting manner in the connecting tubes makes it possible to exchange the filter tubes and thus to filter the connector differently.
  • the spring tongues extend along the axis of a connecting tube and run towards one another from the free ends of the connecting tube. As a result, relatively little resistance is opposed by the spring tongues when the wire or strand ends are inserted.
  • the spring tongues end freely at a point at which they are closest to one another. This results in a barb effect, which makes it difficult, but not prevents, to pull the wire or strand ends out of the connecting tubes. The pulling out should not be prevented either, since it is desired that connections are exchanged in a simple manner without the need for soldering tools.
  • a particularly secure anchoring of the free wire or strand ends can be achieved if four spring tongues are provided for each connecting tube.
  • the ground disc rests on a radially inward shoulder of the housing and is pressed against the shoulder by a pressure ring.
  • the pressure ring can be held by crimping the free edge of the housing on the cable connection side.
  • the pressure ring engages over a radially inner guide plate, in which through holes are provided for the filter tubes and if a cover which covers the end face of the guide plate is releasably attached and has openings concentric with the through bores of the guide plate, the diameter of which is smaller than that of the filter tubes.
  • the filter tubes are ultimately held in a positive manner in the axial direction only by the cover, while the connecting tubes and also the ground disk only hold the filter tubes non-positively. It is therefore possible to remove any number of filter tubes from the back of the connector half after removing the cover and to replace them with other filter tubes or with simple pins. Then the lid is put back on.
  • a structurally particularly simple fastening option for the cover is obtained if the cover is held by a clip closure provided on the edge of the cover and cooperating with an undercut of the edge of the guide plate.
  • Fig. 1 shows a connector half according to the invention using the example of a socket of an audio miniature pressure contact connector.
  • the cable connection side 2 of the connector half On the opposite side (left) is the cable connection side 2 of the connector half.
  • the connector half On this side, the connector half has cylindrical connecting tubes 3 corresponding to the number of its poles.
  • the cylindrical connecting tubes 3 On their inner wall, the cylindrical connecting tubes 3 have four radially inwardly directed spring tongues distributed over their circumference. The spring tongues 4 yield radially outwards when a wire or strand end is inserted in order to hold the wire or strand end in a force-locking manner.
  • the spring tongues 4 are arranged in such a way that they initially run from the free end of the connecting tubes 3, parallel to their axis and run towards one another at a distance from the free end.
  • the spring tongues 4 end at a point where they are closest to each other. This results in a barb effect, which makes it difficult to pull out an inserted connector pin.
  • the connecting tubes 3 are embedded in an insulating body which is surrounded by the housing 8 of the box.
  • the box shown in FIG. 1 is one that can be screwed onto a front plate of a device, not shown here, with the aid of a union nut 9.
  • the housing 8 is supported with a flange 10 on the back of the front panel.
  • a circumferential annular cutting edge 11 is provided on the flange edge 10, which cuts into the back of the front plate, not shown, when the union nut 9 is tightened.
  • the can is provided with filtering.
  • tube filters 12 are inserted into the connecting tubes 3, only one of which is shown.
  • These tube filters 12 have, at least on the side on which they are inserted into the connecting tubes 3, a connecting pin 13 matched to the inside diameter of the connecting tubes 3.
  • the other side of the tube filter 12 is also provided with a pin to which lines can be soldered. However, it is favorable to also provide connecting tubes on this side.
  • the tubular filters 12 are surrounded by a common ground disk 14, which is provided with openings for this purpose, at the ends of which spring claws 15 which are directed towards one another and which run towards one another are provided.
  • the mass disk 14 is pressed via a pressure ring 16 against a radially inwardly directed circumferential shoulder 17 of the housing 8.
  • the pressure ring 16 itself is held in that the free end 18 of the housing 8 is flanged.
  • the pressure ring 16 On its radially inner side, the pressure ring 16 has an inclined surface with which it holds a radially inner guide plate 19 for the tube filter 12 in position.
  • This guide plate 19, which consists of an insulating plastic, can also, as is not shown in FIG. 1, with the ground disk 14, for example by ultrasonic riveting.
  • the guide plate 19 has individual through bores 20, the inside diameter of which is greater than the outside diameter of the tubular filter 12, so that the tubular filter 12 can be inserted through the through bores 20 and the spring claws 15 of the ground disk 14 into
  • the outer end face of the guide plate is covered by a cover 21 which has openings 22 which are arranged concentrically with the through bores 20 of the guide plate and whose diameter is smaller than the diameter of the tube filter 12.
  • the cover 21 is formed by a retaining clip formed on its edge and encircling it 23 held, which engages in an undercut 24 of the guide plate 12.
  • the connecting cable can now be soldered in a conventional manner with the stranded ends (not shown) to the soldering pins of the tubular filter 12 protruding from the cover 21. It is preferred, however, that, although not shown, the tube filters 12 also carry connecting tubes on this side, so that the stranded ends of the cables need only be inserted into these connecting tubes.
  • the cover 21 is blown off, after which the individual tube filters 12 can be pulled out against the frictional connection caused by the spring claws and the spring tongues. Since the mass disk 14 is supported by the guide plate 19, this process takes place without causing any damage. Subsequently, as already described above, the can can be refiltered or changed, i.e. with changed filter values or filter types.
