Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a device walking aid, crutch or cane type, and more particularly its upper part used for gripping and maintaining the user's forearm.
  • a walking aid, crutch or cane type has a metal tube adjustable in length at the bottom end of which is attached a non-slip tip, and at the other end of which a handle is substantially joined perpendicular to said tube, which is extended obliquely upwards, this extension comprising at its end a piece in an arc serving as a support for the forearm.
  • the upper part of such a device i.e. the part comprising the handle, the extension oblique and the part in an arc, is generally made in one piece, and most often in material molded plastic.
  • the joining of the upper part and the metal tube is generally made by fitting the latter in a tubular extension of said part upper, arranged under the handle.
  • This joining has drawbacks, in particular resistance to effort, this resistance being closely related to the strength of the plastic used and the thickness of the tubular part produced in this matter, so that such assistive devices when walking have an indication of weight limit, which is generally around 90 kg.
  • the present invention makes it possible to remedy these various drawbacks of known devices by proposing a walking aid which has resistance to the effort greater than that of existing devices all offering an improved aesthetic appearance.
  • the walking aid object of the present invention comprises, according to a first characteristic, an upper metal tube bent in the lower part of which slides a lower tube, in view length adjustment of said device, said tube upper extending to the upper end of the device, i.e. up to the supporting part brachial.
  • the part used for brachial support, as well as the handle are made in one piece of material rigid molded plastic which is attached to the part top of the bent tube.
  • the positioning of the handle can be variable, either at the elbow of the tube, or above, on its oblique part, or still below, on its part right.
  • the molded plastic part of the device according to the invention comprises a handle and a part in an arc linked by an elongated body whose internal face, in contact with the bent tube, marries the outline of it over about half a circumference.
  • Said molded plastic part is secured to the bent tube by any appropriate means, such as than a screw-nut system, being for this purpose associated with a curved counter-piece arranged on the other half-circumference of the tube, the three parts in question being pierced with orifices arranged opposite one another.
  • the location of the counterpiece can be variable, but it is advantageous to place it as close as possible of the handle and even next to it, and use a screw that can be inserted deep into the handle, which has for this purpose a reserve full of material allowing good anchoring of the screw and increasing the shear strength of the handle.
  • the upper end of the material plastic includes a sealing element which is introduced in the bent tube and thus participates in maintaining the upper part of said piece on said tube, while the part in an arc serving as a brachial support can take different shapes and sizes.
  • the walking aid object of the present invention has resistance to stress higher than existing devices, due to the method of assembling the tube and the gripping part, and on the other hand, it allows the realization of shapes including the aesthetics are new.
  • a walking aid device 1 comprises an upper tube 2 comprising a bend 20, on which is attached a piece 3 of molded plastic comprising at its base and substantially perpendicularly a handle 30 and at its upper end an arcuate part 31 serving as a brachial support.
  • the handle 30 and the arch portion 31 are connected by an elongated body 32 including the internal face 33 conforms to the shape of tube 2 from elbow 20 to its end 21.
  • the elongated body 32 has at its end upper, behind the arched portion 31, an element 34 in the form of a cap adapted to the internal dimensions of the tube 2, into the end 21 of which it is introduced, thus partially securing the part 3 to the tube 2.
  • the tube 2 is pierced with two diametrically opposite orifices 22 and 23 opposite which are arranged, on the one hand an orifice 37 drilled in the body 32 of the part 3, and on the other hand a orifice 43 drilled in a counterpiece 4 including one face 42 partially follows the contour of tube 2, these three parts being secured by screwing by means of a screw 5 assembly.
  • the internal face 33 of the part 3 has a protuberance 34 which is pierced, centrally and perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of part 3, by orifice 35, and which is introduced into an orifice 22 practiced in tube 2.
  • a second orifice 23, diametrically opposite to the orifice 22 is made in the tube 2 in order to house the protuberance 40, similar to the protuberance 34 of the part 3, a counter piece 4.
  • This counterpiece 4 has a face 42 partially matching the contour of the tube 2, and the protuberance 40 is pierced centrally with an orifice 41.
  • the assembly of part 3 and the counter part 4 on the tube 2 is produced by means of a screw 5 inserted in the orifices 35 and 41 and passing through the tube 2 by its holes 22 and 23, associated with a nut 51.
  • the assembly means constituted by the protuberances 34 and 40 of parts 3 and 4 and the orifices 22 and 23 of the tube 2, is positioned substantially at the middle of the part 3, but this location may be different.
  • the upper part 36 of the handle 30 can be removable, allowing it to be replaced, and it can be made of a flexible material, foam type, increasing the comfort of using the device.
