Definitions

  • the invention relates to a piston diaphragm pump for the metered delivery of liquids, in particular surfactants, wetting agents or the like, with a magnet tube which is displaceably guided in a pump tube enclosing the pump pressure chamber and is surrounded by a magnetic coil against the effect of a back Actuating spring electromagnetically drivable pump piston as well as a pump diaphragm firmly connected to the suction side, clamped peripherally in the pump housing and with one side facing the pump suction chamber, which is penetrated centrally by the longitudinal bore with a continuous bore connecting the pressure chamber to the suction chamber and a piston valve built into it is.
  • a piston diaphragm pump of the above type is known from DE-OS 28 31 437. While the respective suction of the liquid into the suction chamber takes place via the flexible membrane, the liquid to be dosed is displaced out of the pressure chamber solely by the firmly connected to the membrane bound pump piston, which is sealingly guided in the pump tube surrounding the pressure chamber. This not only requires an appropriate seal, but can also cause the pump piston to become stuck after long periods of inactivity by drying the dosing liquid.
  • the pump piston also has a substantially smaller effective cross-section than the pump diaphragm and both work with the same stroke height due to their fixed connection on both sides, less liquid is always displaced out of the pump pressure chamber during the respective delivery stroke than liquid through the diaphragm into the suction chamber is sucked up.
  • the suction chamber must be connected to the liquid storage container via a special liquid line which can be shut off by a non-return valve, in order to inject the amount of liquid which is excessively fed into the suction chamber during the respective return stroke of the pump membrane to reclaim the storage container.
  • a further disadvantage with the known pump is that - because of its comparatively small delivery cross-section and thus ultimately also the membrane, the pump piston has to perform comparatively large stroke movements in order to be able to deliver a certain amount of liquid in a metered manner .
  • the invention is therefore based on the object of improving and perfecting a piston diaphragm pump of the type mentioned at the outset in such a way that it does not have the abovementioned deficiencies, but rather manages with shorter pump strokes for conveying comparable amounts of liquid, no sealed guide of the pump piston in the pump tube, and therefore also prevents the piston from becoming stuck after a lengthy interruption in operation.
  • this object is achieved according to the invention in that the working space located on the side of the pump diaphragm facing away from the suction space serves as an additional pump pressure space which, via the transverse channels present in the pump piston behind the piston valve, with the Piston longitudinal bore leading pressure chamber is constantly connected.
  • the piston valve is expediently provided in the immediate vicinity of the pump piston end penetrating the pump membrane and the transverse channels immediately behind it. This results in a compact design in the part of the pump on the pressure chamber side, in particular when the pump housing is constricted in a funnel shape towards the pump tube in its area surrounding the transverse channels and the membrane pressure chamber.
  • a pump piston stop provided with a seal is advantageously provided in the housing part surrounding the pump suction chamber, which acts in the region of the stop position of the pump piston caused by the return spring as a safety valve separating the pressure chamber from the suction chamber.
  • the piston valve may no longer prevent undesired outflow of the pumped medium from the pressure chamber into the suction chamber and vice versa.
  • the invention also provides that a rectifier converting its supply current into pulsating direct current is installed in the current supply line to the magnetic coil , which is preferably integrated in the pump housing part surrounding the electromagnetic coil.
  • a calm and current-saving diaphragm pump drive is ensured via the pump piston acting as an electric armature.
