Definitions

  • the invention relates to a milling tool for incorporating rebates in wood and rounding off the rebate edge, in particular in the case of doors or windows, with a milling head which has an essentially cylindrical peripheral surface and which, preferably on this peripheral surface, has at least one knife for producing the rebate.
  • an indexable insert knife and on its side surface normal to the axis of rotation carries at least one plate-shaped tool, preferably an indexable insert, which is separate from this knife and rounds off the edge of the fold produced by the knife, which is arranged in a pocket on the side surface and on a wall of the Bag lies flat and is clamped to this wall, this wall of the pocket extends to the circumferential surface of the milling head and is inclined to the axis of rotation of the milling tool and to the radial plane through the axis of rotation, and wherein a screw is used to clamp the tool, the screw Eye head is accessible from the side surface of the milling head which has the pocket.
  • Such a milling tool is known (AT-A 381.059) and has the advantage that inexpensive cutting inserts can be used while maintaining the essentially circular shape of the milling head and with a small footprint, the risk of accidents being reduced and the noise generated during the rotation of the milling tool being reduced becomes.
  • the object of the invention is to further improve such a milling tool with regard to the rounding of the folded edges cut by the knife and with regard to the fastening of the tool to the milling head, this fastening being intended to be easily accessible in order to be able to change the tool quickly if required, be it when the tool is worn or when changing to another rounding type.
  • the attachment should make it possible to compensate for the manufacturing tolerances of the tools.
  • the milling tool should be designed so that even large depths of fold can be machined.
  • the invention solves this problem in that provided on the fold corner and the fold edge, curved cutting edges provided tool with the cutting edge acting on the folding edge protrudes slightly beyond the circumferential surface of the milling head, and that the tool by one on another wall of the pocket by means of Screwed screwed, with its side edge against the tool clamping plate is clamped, the screw penetrating the clamping plate.
  • This not only rounds off the fold edge, as in the known one described at the beginning Device, but also a rounding of the fold corner, which is often desired for various reasons.
  • the clamping of the tool at the bottom of the pocket compared to the screwing used in the known construction results in an at least limited adjustment in the direction of the floor level, so that manufacturing tolerances of the tools can be compensated.
  • the latter advantage has an effect on indexable inserts, in which the conditions in the two possible use situations often differ from one another, sometimes even considerably.
  • the tool Due to the accessibility of the screw head of the screw used to fasten the tool from the side of the milling head, the tool can be easily assembled or disassembled, for example to replace the tool in the event of wear or when changing to a different depth of fold. It is advantageous that the arrangement of two separate tools, one of which cuts the fold and the other rounds the fold corner and fold edge, also enables the processing of very deep folds.
  • Another known wood milling tool (EP-A 205 884) is used for another purpose, namely for the production of decorative profiles.
  • a knife is inserted into a circumferential groove of the milling head, with which the desired profiling can be achieved, this knife being clampable in the groove by means of a wedge and a stud screw.
  • the stud has its axis approximately tangential to the circumference of the milling head and its head is accessible from a further circumferential groove offset in the circumferential direction relative to the groove receiving the knife.
  • This construction is not suitable for the incorporation and rounding of folds, in particular not for larger fold depths, and moreover has the disadvantage that the stud screw used for clamping the knife is difficult to access.
  • Another disadvantage is that two circumferential grooves are required in the milling head for clamping and inserting the knife, whereas the milling tool according to the invention for this purpose with a single pocket gets along.
  • the production of the milling head according to the invention is therefore considerably less complex than the known milling head.
  • the arrangement is such that the insert is secured with pins on the wall of the pocket against displacement in the direction of the plane of this wall, the pins sitting with play in the openings receiving them.
  • the pins preferably sit on the wall of the pocket and engage in openings in the indexable insert. This is cheaper than the reverse construction, in which the pins are attached to the indexable insert, since the indexable insert is thereby easy to manufacture and saves space.
  • FIG. 1 shows the milling head acting on the workpiece in the working position in the viewing direction normal to the axis of rotation of the milling head.
  • Fig. 2 shows the milling head in the direction of its axis of rotation.
  • Fig. 3 is a section along the line III - III of Fig.2. 4 shows an embodiment variant of FIG. 1.

  • a pocket 11 (FIG. 2, 3) is provided on the side surface 9 of the milling head 10 which is normal to the axis of rotation 5 and which forms a depression in the side surface 9.

  • This cross section is delimited by a flat wall 12 on which the tool 13 acting on the folding edge 3 and the folding corner 3 'of the workpiece 1 is fastened.
  • This wall 12 is inclined to the direction of the axis of rotation 5 of the milling head 10 at an angle ⁇ (FIG. 3), this angle ⁇ preferably being 10 ° to 25 °.

  • This plate-shaped tool 13 lies flat against the flat wall 12 of the pocket 11 and extends with a rounded cutting edge 16 acting on the folding corner 3 'of the workpiece 1 beyond the cylindrical peripheral surface 6 of the milling head 10, but only slightly so that just the desired effect on the folding corner 3 'can be achieved.
