- the sequencer 13 controls the blocking sampler 10, the analog-digital converter 11, the memory read cycles 12 as well as a switch or relay 17 placed in series between the output of the attenuator 5 and the input of the filter 6 .
- the operation is as follows. At each request for positioning in a determined frequency band of the receiver 2 by the processing block 14, a control word is applied, at a time t1, to the data line 16 to control the sequencer 13. Upon receipt of this word the sequencer 13 invalidates the analog-to-digital converter 11 and controls the switch 17 to open the link between the output of the attenuator 5 and the input of the filter 6. At time t1, the value of the attenuation in the attenuator 5 is adjusted so that the signal level between the input of the HF head and the output of the modulation chain 7 is approximately the same. At a time following t2, the switch 17 is controlled to connect the output of the attenuator 5 with the input of the filter 6.
- the value memorized in the blocking sampler 10 is first set to zero before memorizing the amplitude again peak of the signal leaving the filter 6.
- the peak value of the signal memorized by the blocking sampler 10 is converted by the analog-to-digital converter 11, and the binary value obtained is applied to address lines of the memory 12.
- each address line of the memory 12 is stored an attenuation value of the attenuator 5, each binary value obtained at the output of the analog-digital converter 11 selects an attenuation value in the memory 12, and this attenuation value is applied to corresponding control inputs of the attenuator 5.
- the control of the attenuator takes place only after opening of the switch 17, so that no signal can be tr ansmis to the processing block 14 during the programming of the attenuator.
- the switch 17 is again closed, and the control of the sequencer on the line 16 is removed, so as not to disturb the reception of the signals at low level.
- the attenuation value of the attenuator 5 is transmitted on the bus 15 to the processing block 14, which can thus use this value for the analysis and processing of the signals from identical receivers in the acquisition phase of signal in multi-channel direction finders connected to the same antenna assembly.
