Definitions

  • the invention relates to a fan arrangement with an aspirator according to the preamble of patent claim 1, in which the aspirator is arranged on an engine fan shroud and provides a negative pressure for other vehicle components, as is known from EP-A-0 079 399.
  • the air filter system for an internal combustion engine generally includes an inlet port, a prefilter, pipes of various lengths and a main filter.
  • the pre-filter should be exposed to a negative pressure, through which small dirt particles can be extracted from the fresh air entering via the inlet connection.
  • Aspirators or suction devices were used in connection with the exhaust system to provide the negative pressure.
  • these exhaust aspirators result in a narrowing of the engine exhaust, an increase in the noise level and an increase in the cost of the muffler and / or the exhaust pipe.
  • a check valve is also required to prevent back flow of the high temperature gases into the prefilter.
  • the corresponding connecting hoses must be temperature-resistant.
  • fan cladding aspirators are used as a vacuum source for a pre-filter, through which dirt particles are extracted from the cabin air intake system.
  • These aspirators are merely an opening in the fan cladding or the hood surrounding the fan, which can be connected to the pre-filter via a hose.
  • these fan cladding aspirators can also cause a backflow to the prefilter, whereby dirt particles are not removed from the air.
  • the object on which the invention is based is seen in specifying a fan arrangement with an aspirator of the type mentioned at the outset, in which, in particular, constriction of the exhaust system is avoided.
  • the fan arrangement according to the invention should neither result in an increase in the noise level nor in the costs for the silencer and / or exhaust pipe. Furthermore, no check valve should be required. An air backflow, for example to a prefilter, should be excluded.
  • the aspirator according to the invention is arranged on a fan shroud, which usually has at least in some areas a cylindrical wall surrounding the cooling fan of the motor and lying outside the envelope curve described by the fan blade tips.
  • the aspirator contains a housing with at least one inlet opening exposed to the air flow of the fan and a connection connected to this opening, which connects the opening of the aspirator to a vehicle component, for example a prefilter.
  • the part of the aspirator located within the fan cladding is located in front of the fan with respect to the flow direction, that is to say on its windward side.
  • a housing area of the aspirator containing the opening projects into the interior of the fan casing and is exposed to the air flow generated by the fan.
  • the opening is preferably within the envelope curve described by the fan blade tips.
  • the opening is open to the leeward side of the air flow, ie in a direction that is essentially parallel to the fan axis.
  • the opening can immediately before the flow direction lie at the outer ends of the fan blades and face them, so that only a small distance remains between the opening and the fan blades.
  • the air flow of the fan which essentially sweeps past the opening on all sides, creates a negative pressure in the opening in the manner of the ejector principle, which is communicated via the aspirator housing, the connections and connecting lines of the vehicle component.
  • the dimensioning rule specified in claim 2 with regard to the fan blade width and the distance between the front edge of an approaching fan blade and a "near" edge of the opening of the aspirator, which faces the approaching fan blades, has proven particularly useful.
  • the aspirator housing with at least one flange projecting from one side of the opening.
  • the flange extends in the direction of rotation of the fan. It lies with at least one flat section essentially in a plane perpendicular to the fan axis, that is to say in the plane of rotation of the fan blades, and is located on the side of the opening opposite the "near" edge.
  • the cross section of the air duct of the aspirator housing is expediently essentially triangular.
  • the apex of the triangle points in a direction that is directed against the direction of flow.
  • the apex divides the air flow impinging on the aspirator and guides it past the aspirator housing on both sides.
  • the desired negative pressure is set on the downstream side of the aspirator, where the opening is located.
  • the triangular cross section can expediently be formed by two side walls which are oriented at an angle to one another and are connected to one another in a vertex line (ridge).
  • the side walls are connected to one another by an inclined triangular end wall, so that there is a trough-shaped formation of the air duct.
  • This design is covered in the area outside the envelope curve of the fan blades or the fan cladding and also partially within the envelope curve or the fan cladding by a flat plate which extends in a plane perpendicular to the fan axis. In the area of the aspirator that lies within the envelope curve or the fan cladding, the plate leaves the opening already mentioned free. The opening is thus limited by an edge of the plate, the edges of the side walls and an edge of the end wall.
  • the plate has a triangular area radially inside the essentially cylindrical wall of the fan cladding, which adjoins the cylindrical wall, extends in a plane perpendicular to the fan axis and converges in a pointed manner in the direction of rotation of the fan blades.
  • a connection is expediently formed on the end region of the plate lying radially outside of the fan cladding, to which a hose or the like can be connected in order to establish the connection to the vehicle component.
  • a fan shroud 10 (scraper) essentially surrounds a fan 12, which is used to cool a vehicle engine 13, and the area between the fan 12 and a radiator 14.
  • the fan 12 is driven and pointed by the vehicle engine 13 a plurality of fan blades 16 which rotate with respect to the clockwise direction shown in FIG. 2 (arrow R) about an axis and suck air through the cooler 14.
  • the outer ends of the fan blades 16 describe a cylindrical envelope curve 17.
  • the fan casing 10 contains an essentially cylindrical wall 18 which is supported by a rectangular base plate 20.
  • the wall 18 surrounds
  • the fan 12 is concentric and lies radially outside of the envelope curve 17.
  • the aspirator 22 is spaced apart from the fan blades 16 and is upstream of the fan 12 with respect to the direction of air flow.
  • the aspirator 22 (suction device) provides a vacuum source for a pre-cleaner 24 or a pre-filter, through which dirt is sucked out of the cabin air inlet 26 before it reaches an engine air filter 28.
  • the aspirator 22 contains a base housing part 30 and a cover housing part 32, which can be joined together and with a corner of the fan shroud 10.
  • the housing parts 30 and 32 together form an opening 33, which lies in the air flow moved by the fan 12.
  • the basic housing part 30 contains a connection 34 which extends through a recess 35 in the fan casing 10 and is connected to the precleaner 24 via hoses and the like.
  • the housing parts 30 and 32 together form an air duct 36 which extends from the opening 33 to the connection 34.
  • the air duct 36 has a triangular cross-sectional shape with a vertex 52 which points in a direction which is upstream with respect to the direction of flow of the air moved by the fan.
  • the cover housing part 32 contains a rear edge zone 40 which is connected to a projecting edge zone 42 via shoulders 44 and 45.
  • a first side wall 46, a second side wall 48 and a triangular end part 50 protrude from the edge zones 40 and 42.
  • the side walls 46 and 48 are joined together to form a protruding apex or ridge 52 which faces away from the fan 12 in a direction opposite to the air flow direction.
  • a part of the projecting edge zone 42 of the deck housing part 32 is designed as an essentially triangular flange 54 (projecting edge region), the flat region of which is basically in Direction of rotation of the fan blades 16 is aligned and protrudes from the opening 33 substantially parallel to a rotational plane of the fan 12.
  • the radially outer ends of the side walls 46 and 48 with respect to the fan axis are continuously curved and connected to one another and to the inner edge zone 40, so that they form an edge-free curved, aerodynamic and continuous surface up to the inner edge zone 40.
  • the surface is closed in the direction that is upstream with respect to the air flow moved by the fan 12.
  • the base housing part 30 contains a flat plate 60 from which an arm 62 protrudes.
  • the base housing portion 30 is attached to the deck housing portion 32 so that a portion of an edge 63 of the plate 60 engages the shoulder 44 and the arm 62 engages the shoulder 45.
  • the outer edge zone 42 and the edge 63 of the plate 60 delimit the opening 33 mentioned above.
  • the plate 60 thus serves as a cover plate for the side walls 46, 48.
  • the plate 60 of the base housing part 30 and the cover housing part 32 together form the air duct 36, which is formed extends from the opening 33 to the connection 34.
  • the aspirator can also be made in one piece instead of the two-part design described.
  • the aspirator 22 extends from a substantially outer end, which lies radially outside the cylindrical wall 18 of the fan shroud 10, to a radially inner end, which lies within the cylindrical envelope curve 17 defined by the fan blades 16.
  • the aspirator 22 has a longitudinal center line 4-4 running parallel to the ridge 52, which includes an acute angle A with a plane P which contacts the cylindrical wall 18 of the fan shroud 10 at the point where the longitudinal center line 4-4 of the aspirator 22 cuts the wall 18.
  • Each fan blade 16 has a front edge 68, which points essentially in the direction of fan rotation (arrow R), and a rear edge 70 opposite this. These edges 68 and 70 lie essentially parallel to one another.
  • the projections of the edges 68, 70 in a plane that is perpendicular to the axis of rotation of the vanes 16 are at a distance B from one another.
  • the aspirator 22 is oriented such that the projection of its leading edge 64 in the plane perpendicular to the axis of rotation of the blades is parallel to the projection of the leading edge 68 of the adjacent fan blade 16, provided the projections of the leading edge 64 of the aspirator 22 and the leading edges 68 of the next fan blade 16 are at a distance C from one another which is somewhat larger than B.
  • the plate 60 further includes an essentially triangular triangular region 66 that extends radially freely within the cylindrical wall 18.
  • a preferred distance C depends on the fan blade diameter. Provided that the projected width B of the fan blades 16 and other shapes and relationships of the arrangement remain the same, the "parallel" distance C should decrease as long as the fan diameter and the diameter of the wall 18 are reduced.
  • the performance can be optimized if the distance C is approximately 154 mm or approximately 1.15 times the width B is the fan blade 16.
  • an optimal performance was found for a fan diameter of 582 mm if the distance C was approximately 87 mm or approximately 0.67 times the width B is the fan blades.
  • the ratio of C to B is preferably between 1.15 and 0.67.
  • the closest was also found axial distance between the fan 12 and the aspirator 22 should be substantially the same as the radial distance between the cladding wall 18 and the outer end of the fan blades 16.
