Definitions

  • the invention relates to a tear-off screw according to the preamble of claim 1.
  • tear-off screws with a head and a threaded section are known which, when tightened, shear or tear off at a predetermined breaking point between the head section and the threaded section with a torque that is greater than or equal to a tear-off torque.
  • the optimal screw or thread length depends on the size of the cable connector and the dimension, or on the cross-section or diameter of the cable. It is a major disadvantage of the known tear-off screws that, depending on the connector or cable lug and the respective degree of cable filling, tear-off screws with threaded sections of appropriate length must be selected.
  • the object of the invention is now to describe a tear-off screw which can be used in as many ways as possible and thus overcomes the disadvantages listed above.
  • the tear-off screw comprises a head section, a first and a second threaded section and a first predetermined breaking point between the head section and the first threaded section, and a second predetermined breaking point between the first and the second threaded section.
  • the second and the first threaded section are screwed in and tearing off only takes place at the first predetermined breaking point.
  • the second threaded section can be screwed in to clamp the conductors or cables.
  • the applied torque exceeds the tear-off torque of the first and / or the second predetermined breaking point.
  • the second predetermined breaking point breaks directly, but preferably the tear-off torque of the first breaking point is smaller than that of the second, so that the first predetermined breaking point breaks first and a torque for breaking the second via an attachment piece of the first threaded section to which a tool can be positively attached is transmitted, which is above the tear-off torque of the second predetermined breaking point.
  • the breakaway torques are values with tolerances. So if it has to be ensured that the the first and then the second predetermined breaking point breaks, the tolerance ranges of the two tear-off torques must not overlap, or they must lie next to each other.
  • the use of the multi-stage tear-off screws according to the invention is in no way restricted to the use in cable lugs or connectors.
  • they can also be used to attach security devices, such as grilles installed in front of windows.
  • security devices such as grilles installed in front of windows.
  • an area for the form-fitting attachment of a tool is attached to the attachment of an attachment area, the screw can no longer be unscrewed with a tool after shearing off a predetermined breaking point.
  • the first shearing must take place directly at the last predetermined breaking point, which still protrudes beyond the safety device.
  • the tear torques must therefore decrease from the head section to the foremost threaded section.
  • the tear-off point protrudes by a maximum of one thread section length, so that when selecting small section lengths, the screws always protrude only slightly after tearing off.
  • the contact pressure acting on the cable is determined by the predetermined tear-off torque.
  • the design of the tear-off screw allows the choice of the tear-off torque and thus the choice of the contact pressure.
  • the desired contact pressure must be set depending on the cable material and the number and arrangement of the cables to be connected, as well as on the design of the cable lug or connector, it is necessary to use screws with different tear-off torques to ensure optimal connections. With optimal connections, the cables are pressed together in such a way that on the one hand they are not damaged, but on the other hand there is a sufficiently high, permanent press contact that ensures a good electrical connection. It is now a further essential disadvantage of the screws according to the prior art that different screws must also be used for each tear-off torque.
  • the screws according to the invention with at least two predetermined breaking points have the further advantage that a different tear-off torque can be provided at each predetermined breaking point, and thus there is the possibility of selecting an advantageous contact pressure from at least two different forces.
  • the tear-off torques increase from the head section against the last screw section, so that one predetermined breaking point after the other can be sheared off until the desired pressing force assigned to the tear-off torque is reached.
  • the predetermined breaking point is preferably constructed as an annular connecting section, the ring thickness of which varies along the screw axis.
  • the connecting section with the smallest ring thickness preferably adjoins the subsequent threaded section, so that the breakage takes place directly in the area of the released threaded section end face.
  • the end pieces of the threaded sections which are designed for the form-fitting reception of a tool, are preferably designed as polygonal inner recesses, in particular hexagon recesses.
  • connection elements that are accessible from the outside, such as two parallel surfaces attached on both sides, can also be provided in the thread area, to which a tool for generating a torque can be applied.
  • FIG. 1 shows a tear-off screw 1 with a head section 2, a first threaded section 3, which adjoins the head section 2, and with a second threaded section 4, which adjoins the first threaded section 3.
  • the transition from the head section 2 to the first threaded section 3 or from the first threaded section 3 to the second threaded section 4 is formed by a first connecting section 5 or a second connecting section 6.
  • An inner recess 8 is preferably provided along a central screw axis 7 from the head section 2 through the first connecting section 5, the first threaded section 3 and the second connecting section 6. This recess in particular also extends at least partially into the second threaded section 4, which is terminated with a contact area 9 arranged at the free end.
  • the second thread 4 'and the first thread 3' are formed as sections of a single thread, so that they can be screwed into a common internal thread.
  • the first predetermined breaking point 10 is arranged in the first connecting section 5, preferably at its transition area to the first threaded section 3.
  • the second predetermined breaking point 11 is arranged in the transition area from the second connecting section 6 to the second threaded section 4.
  • This position of the predetermined breaking points 10, 11 results preferably from the outer edges of the respective connecting sections 5, 6 tapering towards the predetermined breaking points.
  • the inner recess 8 is designed, at least in sections, for the positive reception of tool heads, such as polygonal heads, in particular with a hexagonal cross section.
  • the cross section of the inner recess 8 is constant in the head section and in the first connecting section. In the subsequent first thread section it is smaller and in turn remains constant up to the second thread section. In the second threaded section, the cross section is even smaller, so that the tool that can be inserted into the various sections in a coherent manner has a smaller external dimension from section to section.
  • the decreasing cross-section was chosen to vary the tear-off torque. However, the desired different tear-off torques can optionally also be achieved with a cross section that is constant over the entire inner recess 8, for example by varying the extent of the outer surfaces in the area of the predetermined breaking points.
  • the invention is in no way limited to the preferred tear-off screws with internal recesses.
  • the inner recess 8 can be dispensed with.
  • FIG. 2 shows a tear-off screw with a head section 2, a first threaded section 3 and four further threaded sections 4a, 4b, 4c, 4d. Further predetermined breaking points are provided between each two thread sections 3, 4a-d, so that the screw 1 is screwed into threads of different lengths can and protrudes little at the first predetermined breaking point above the thread end.
  • 3a and 3b show the optimal usability of tear-off screws according to the invention in cable lugs and connectors with somewhat different dimensions and with different degrees of cable filling.
  • 3a two threaded sections 3, 4 are screwed into a thread 14 of a cable lug or connector 15.
  • the contact area 9 protrudes far into the cable area 17 provided for receiving the cables 16 because a multi-core cable 16 with only a small cross section is inserted.
  • the head section originally protruding over the cable lug or connector was sheared off at the first predetermined breaking point 10 by applying a sufficiently large torque.
  • a cable lug or connector 15 ' is equipped with a cable of larger cross-section, so that only the second threaded section 4 can be accommodated in the thread 14. After tearing off at the second predetermined breaking point 11, no screw section protrudes beyond the cable connector.
  • the contact pressure in FIG. 3a is lower than that in FIG. 3b.
  • the contact pressure for optimally connecting cables or conductors with smaller cross-sections should be chosen smaller than that for connecting cables or conductors with larger cross-sections. This need was taken into account by the choice of the different tear-off torques of the two predetermined breaking points 10, 11.
  • the tear-off screw according to the invention can be designed in a large number of embodiments.
  • the head section 2 can already be designed as a threaded section.
  • the tear-off screws are at least partially made of metal, in particular electrically conductive metal, such as brass, and / or plastic.
