- the compressed air supplied to the paint spray gun 1 is guided to an annular gap 21 surrounding the paint outlet opening and is blown out under pressure, the paint being sucked out of the outlet opening, atomized and entrained by the resulting vacuum.
- the compressed air distributors 3 of these known paint spray guns 1 have a setting valve, upon actuation of which a plug 7 closes or partially closes off the branching horn air supply line 5 or opens completely. When this valve is completely closed, no air flows out of the horns 20 and there is a pure omnidirectional jet; the more this valve is opened, the more the omnidirectional jet is deformed into a flat jet.
- US-A-5,090,623 relates to a paint spray gun in which the amount of air supplied to the annular gap is also reduced while reducing the amount of horn air.
- the arrangement shown therein comprises a perforated disc which the Separates air channels in their course and which has different bores that can be introduced into the air channels by rotating the disc.
- the arrangement is very complicated and can hardly be reassembled after disassembly for cleaning the paint spray gun. In addition, it cannot be retrofitted to existing paint spray guns.

- a compressed air distributor insert is screwed into this housing bore, which supplements the arrangement to form a compressed air distributor 3.
- a plug 7 can be adjusted perpendicular to the wall of the housing 2, as a result of which a sealing cone 8 attached to the plug 7 can be pressed onto the inlet of the horn air supply line 5. Since the suppository 8 is conical, the horn air supply line 5 is thus sealed. If the knurled knob 14 is turned back, the horn air supply line 5 is released by the suppository 8 and acted upon by horn air. In contrast, the omnidirectional supply line 6 lying in front of the horn air supply line 5, viewed in the screwing-in direction of the plug 7, is always pressurized with compressed air from the compressed air supply line 4 (not shown in FIG.

- the plate 9 can also be placed on a plug 7, as shown in FIG. 2.
- the subject of the invention is also a compressed air distributor unit per se, the term compressed air distributor unit being understood to mean only the structural unit made from plug 7, plate 9, sealing cone 8 and knurled knob 14, which can be screwed into the housing 2 of the paint spray gun 1 via the external thread 12. This unit only becomes a compressed air distributor in cooperation with the bores 4, 5 and 6 within the housing 2.
