Definitions

  • the invention relates to a device for capping a bottle, can be opened by simple manual user operation without any instrument such as corkscrew or bottle opener.
  • One of the aims of the invention is to remedy these drawbacks, by proposing a closure device that does not require opening no accessories, and which is particularly economical to produce.
  • the device for the invention can make use of a cork, generally perceived by the public as reserved for quality products.
  • the invention nevertheless allows the use of a cork lower cost than conventional closures, thus avoiding burdening the final cost of the product.
  • the closure device of the invention is of the generic type disclosed by FR-A-2 687 376, that is to say comprising basically an outer sleeve and a tube hollow cylindrical interior, these two elements being coaxial and integral at their top by a common partition covering the neck of the bottle, the inner surface of the sleeve being pressed against the outer surface of the bottle neck wall and the outer surface of the tube being applied against the inner surface of this same wall.
  • the tube traps a plug in the volume inside it defines, the plug protruding from the tube in an axial direction so as to be applied sealingly against the interior surface of the neck wall, the radial and axial dimensions of the part protruding from the trapped part of the plug and tube, as well that their respective coefficients of friction with respect to the wall inside of the neck, being chosen such that a combined tensile force and of rotation exerted on the sleeve by taking hold of the latter and transmitted to the tube causes a correlative drive in tension and rotation of the plug in the neck, plug and tube essentially remaining united in this movement.
  • the stopper is a cork or agglomerated stopper of cork, the material and the dimensions of the cap being able in particular be chosen so that the natural expansion of the protruding part after removing the cap prevents the latter from being replaced in the neck.
  • the tube and the sleeve can be made of a plastic, in particular a recyclable plastic such as recyclable PVC.
  • the partition is open in the central part so as to allow the plug to be inserted by force from above on a bottle previously provided with a device without its cap.
  • the tube, the sleeve and their common partition can constitute a one-piece assembly.
  • the sleeve may include a primer peripheral rupture between an upper part secured to the sleeve and an elongated bottom skirt covering the neck of the bottle.
  • Figure 1 shows the appearance of a bottle 1 whose neck 2 has been blocked by a device according to the invention. As we can see, this appearance is substantially identical to that of a bottle closed by a classic cork stopper, making the device commercially suitable for traditional products such as quality wines.
  • the closure device comprises an upper part 3, below designated “sleeve”, intended to be entered by hand by the user, and extended along the neck 2 of the bottle by a part adjoining 4 in the form of a skirt from which it is separated by caps break 5 to ensure the inviolability of the closure.
  • Figure 2 shows the internal structure of the device: the sleeve 3 is integral with an inner tube 6 penetrating into the neck of the bottle and connected to the sleeve by a horizontal partition 7 in the form of disc; all elements 3, 6 and 7 are preferably made of in one piece, for example by injection molding of a plastic material suitable such as PVC, preferably recyclable PVC.
  • Element 6 is a cylindrical tube forming a ferrule, trapping a stopper 8, preferably a cork stopper. Typically, in the axial direction, only an upper part 9 of the plug is trapped by the tube 6, the projecting lower part 10 coming in contact with the inside of the neck of the bottle so as to ensure the desired shutter.
  • the opening of the bottle is done as follows.
  • the user grasps the sleeve 3 with one hand and drags it into a combined movement of rotation and traction upwards, which has the effect of breaking the starting point of rupture 5 and of entraining in this same movement of the inner tube 6, integral with the sleeve, and the plug 8, integral with the tube 7 (the dimensions of the plug and the inner tube and the relative coefficients of friction of the plug with this tube and with the neck of the bottle are chosen so that cap 8 and tube 6 remain essentially united in this movement, while the protruding part 10 of the plug 9 slides on the inner surface of the neck of the bottle).
  • this closure method can be made irreversible not only by the primers of rupture 5 which reveal any attempt to open, but also by choosing for the stopper 10, a quality of cork and dimensions such that, a few moments after opening, the projecting part 10 has natural expansion preventing any replacement of the plug in the neck.
  • the closure device of the invention has many advantages.
  • cork stoppers or cork
  • it allows the use of cork stoppers (or cork) of small dimensions, shorter than the corks traditional to be extracted with a corkscrew and therefore more economic.
  • corking of the bottles can be carried out on conventional bottling lines, much less expensive to set up work that the bottling lines placing screw caps metallic.
  • the partition 7 is open upwards in the central part, it is possible to insert the plug into it by a similar operation than inserting a cork into the neck of a bottle.
  • the bottling is then done in two stages, namely first of all the fitting or overmolding, on the neck of the bottle, the plastic part monobloc comprising the sleeve 3, the skirt 4, the tube 6 and the partition 7 then, in a second step, the vertical insertion of the plug 8 by force in the central opening of the partition 7, which results in the configuration of Figure 2; the upper part can be optionally hidden by sticking a circular label on top of the set thus constituted.
