It is mentioned that carbon black can also be used as powdered carbon. However, a material in which both the carbon powder and the carbon fibers consist of graphite should behave most favorably.
- US Pat. No. 2,319,240 describes a silver-carbon material for electrical contacts in which other carbon besides graphite can also be used. No information is given about the type of carbon and the size of these carbon particles. These materials are manufactured by mixing appropriate powders, pressing the powder into a semi-finished product and sintering.
