- the present invention relates to a device and a method for fixing a metering member inside a container containing a product to be dispensed, and applies more particularly to dispensers at low doses, such as perfume samples, cosmetics or pharmaceuticals. It is known, for example, from documents EP-0 408 421 and EP-0 583 193 to use a ring for mounting the pump body on the container. This system has certain drawbacks and in particular requires a relatively expensive assembly operation taking into account the nature of the containers (samples).
- the diameters of the necks of the containers may vary slightly due to their manufacture, which can prevent correct fixing of the pump body in said neck of the container.
- a press fit of the pump body itself can in certain cases cause a tightening of said pump body and thus cause friction inside the pump which can impair its operation.
- Another device disclosed in document DE-31 22 982, provides for a snap-fastening of the pump body on a bead of the neck of the container.
- This device has the drawback of requiring special container necks and of not being adaptable to a standard neck.
- the object of the present invention is to avoid the abovementioned drawbacks by providing a simple and inexpensive fixing device making it possible to fix the body of a metering in a neck of a container, the radial dimensions of the body of the metering member and the neck of the container may vary slightly without affecting the possibility and / or the quality of the attachment.
- the present invention therefore relates to a fixing device for fixing a metering member comprising a cylindrical body, the upper part of which ends in a collar, in a cylindrical neck of a container containing a product to be dispensed, characterized in that said body of the metering member has an outside diameter slightly smaller than the inside diameter of said cylindrical neck of the container and abuts on the upper end of said neck of the container with said collar, said device comprising a cylindrical ferrule whose outside diameter is slightly greater than the inside diameter of said body of the metering member over at least part of its length, said ferrule being force-fitted into said body of the metering member at said neck of the container.
- the device of the invention has many advantages: the pump body can be of very simple general configuration and no longer requires a complex external shape and very precise dimensions. The manufacturing cost is therefore reduced. On the other hand, the device of the invention adapts to standard collars and does not require any particular additional structure. Finally, the pump body is fixed directly in the neck, which avoids the use of a screwed or crimped ring.
- the body of the metering member has at its upper end a portion of slightly larger internal diameter to allow pre-engagement of the ferrule before it is force-fitted. It is thus possible to deliver the assembly with the ferrule already pre-engaged, the customer only having to fit the latter.
- said ferrule is chamfered at its lower end to facilitate its fitting into the body of the metering member.

According to another embodiment, said ferrule has a length greater than that of the neck of the container, the press fitting of the ferrule being carried out at the lower end of said neck, thus causing under the wall of the container flaring from said neck a displacement of material which blocks the body of the metering member in said container and seals the device.

This makes it possible to pre-engage the ferrule 6 in the body of the metering member before delivery of the assembly, the press fitting is then carried out at the customer, for example, after filling the container.
- the length of the ferrule 6 can be variable. In an embodiment shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, it has a length approximately equal to that of the neck 2 of the container 1 the press fitting being produced in the neck 2 of the container itself. In another embodiment, shown in FIGS. 3 and 4, the ferrule 6 has a greater length than that of the neck 2 of the container 1 and the part of the body of the member metering device of reduced internal diameter is located at the lower extremity of said neck 2.
- the press fit of the ferrule 6 causes a displacement of material 9 under the wall of the container 1 flaring from said neck 2. This displacement of material blocks the body of the metering member in the neck of the container and also seals the device.
- the ferrule 6 is chamfered at its lower end 17 to facilitate its introduction into the body 4 of the metering member 3, and comprises at its upper end a head 8 which abuts with said flange 5 of the body of the metering member when the ferrule is completely inserted into said body of the metering member.
- said head 8 of the ferrule 6 is produced so as to cooperate with the flange 5 of the body of the metering member 3 so as not to create any additional thickness on said flange 5 after complete fitting of the ferrule.
- the material in which the body 4 of the metering member 3 is made may be more flexible than that of the ferrule 6.
- the press fitting is facilitated and a possible blockage is avoided, due to deformation of the ferrule 6, of the valve of the metering member if the latter is a pump.
- the deformation of the material of the body of the metering member makes it possible to compensate for the manufacturing tolerances of the neck 2 of the container 1.
- the establishment of the ferrule 6, that is to say say its press fit can be performed either using a tool pressing the head 8 of said ferrule 6, or by exerting a pushing force on a dispensing element, for example a pusher, previously fixed on the metering unit 3.
