- One of the conventional means of constituting such batteries consists in assembling in parallel capacitors with a capacitance as high as possible and capable of supplying for each of them currents of the order of a few tens to a few hundred amps.
- the assembly of a large number of elements poses several technical problems:
- capacitors with large capacitances can lead to possibilities of resonances between two or more capacitors of the battery. Such a phenomenon has the effect, when it occurs, of bringing about the destruction of elements of the battery.
- the battery capacitors are usually placed between two copper plates cooled by water circulation, which entails the obligation to dismantle all or a large part of the battery, if it is necessary to change a capacitor.
- the paralleling of a large number of capacitors has the consequence of producing a large current which must be brought to the output terminals of the battery by means of connections designed to cause a negligible ohmic and inductive voltage drop. These conditions are difficult to achieve.
- the device which is the subject of the present invention makes it possible to solve all of these problems.
- the electrodes (3) of the capacitors (4) are arranged astride two bars (1) provided with tapped holes (9) using fixing screws (8).
- the capacitors (4) can be arranged in any number, either on one side only or on either side of the cooling bars (1).
- the distance between the bus bars cooled by water circulation is reduced to an interval of the order of 1 to 5 mm so as to confine between the bars the magnetic field created by the passage of the currents from each capacitor.
- each bar is fitted with a massive T-shaped part (2).
- This part is intended to be connected by means of copper shims (5) to the high intensity terminals (11) of the battery by means of the fixing holes (10) drilled in the terminals (11).
- the shims (5) make it possible, depending on their position, to connect any of the bars (1) to the high intensity terminals (11).
