Definitions

  • the invention relates to a method for regulating the composition and the viscosity of ink circulating in a printing press.
  • composition and viscosity of the printing ink must be printed on a suitable Value should be kept, otherwise the paint is applied too thin or too thick becomes. If a high quality print is to be obtained, the composition must and viscosity are regulated very precisely. Without special measures, changes the composition and the viscosity increases as solvent evaporates. On Another reason why the viscosity increases is that the color keeps coming back goes through the cycle, which also leads to a change in viscosity over time leads. The reason for this is not fully understood, but is probably due to the fact that the color pigments become electrostatically charged. Finally, the viscosity changes too with the temperature. It therefore requires a high level of skill or complex technical facilities, continuously monitor and regulate the composition and viscosity, so that the printed image does not deteriorate.
  • the paint in the paint container is stirred with a motor, the torque to be applied by the motor as a measure of the viscosity is used.
  • the corresponding torque absorption is e.g. from the height the surface of the liquid paint and other factors determined so that an accurate Viscosity control is not possible.
  • the agitator that is used to stir the paint. This is very time-consuming.
  • the object of the invention is to create a method of the aforementioned Kind that is reliable, delivers accurate values and easy machine cleaning enables.
  • the initial desired viscosity can first be set in a conventional manner in which the specialist has his or her experience to achieve an optimal printing result can fully use. He can e.g. also make a test print to determine whether the viscosity has the right value or not. By this conventional Determining the viscosity will be a very accurate and reliable starting point for that Process created.
  • the initial viscosity can be measured using a measuring cup or another known method can be set.
  • the composition and the viscosity can also be entered previously by the method Value to be regulated automatically.
  • the temperature in the measuring chamber and the speed of sound using ultrasound measured in color can have a smooth-walled tube, attached to the ultrasonic transmitter and receiver and the temperature sensor are so that it is easy to clean when changing colors or soiling. This can by passing solvent through it. Only in the case of incrustations the measuring chamber can be taken apart, but can then also be easily cleaned become.
  • the speed of sound the chemical composition be determined. If here and in the following we speak of the speed of sound, then so it should be noted that this speed of sound is not measured directly and then is further evaluated, but the transit time of ultrasonic pulses through the color. This Runtime or the speed of sound changes with the chemical composition, whether a lot or little solvent is added. It will be ongoing for Temperature changes as well as changes in the speed of sound due to progressive Machine runtime corrections when determining the composition performed based on known parameter values.
  • the determination described alternates the composition measured the viscosity. This happens because you let the color run out of the measuring chamber and thereby the flow rate determined with the help of an ultrasonic echo method in which the transit time of ultrasonic pulses is measured, which reflects from the surface of the color liquid in the measuring chamber.
  • composition and viscosity are then added regulated by paint or solvent. This is a precise regulation of the Composition and viscosity and thus also pigment density and print quality possible.
  • the method according to the invention enables viscosity and composition can be set and controlled separately, so that a previously unattainable print quality can be achieved.
  • An advantageous embodiment is characterized in that according to a predetermined Cycle with the help of ultrasound measurements determined values for the composition be saved as a new setpoint.
  • Another advantageous embodiment is characterized in that solvents is added discontinuously and then with the addition of solvent wait until the color of the composition before adding the solvent has reached.
  • the composition and viscosity do not go through a continuous curve, but more or less a sawtooth curve, what has proven to be more favorable for the regulation. Especially when the setpoint set to what is absolutely necessary is during most of the cycle Printed with lower viscosity, which saves color in the long term can.
  • a particularly simple embodiment is characterized in that for the measurement the composition and viscosity of the same ultrasonic transmitter / receiver be used.
  • the switchover can take place automatically. If the color level in the measuring chamber drops from, so that ultrasound transmitter and ultrasound receiver no longer by an uninterrupted Color range are connected, so there is a switchover automatically Echo operation to measure and track the level of the liquid. This can both happen that the lower and the upper element of the ultrasonic measuring section can be switched as encoder / receiver.
  • the strength of the feedback is expediently adjustable. That way the control behavior can be optimally adapted to the given conditions.
  • the temperature coefficient is determined based on an empirical value for colors. Because of this Temperature coefficient can be different for different colors, can be provided be that the temperature coefficient is adjustable, depending on the color used is set accordingly. In this way, the optimal result for each color receive.
  • the extent of the change in viscosity in the step of adding solvent be adjustable. In other words, you can set how much solvent each time is added or how strong the viscosity with this addition of solvent is lowered. The same applies to the addition of color.
  • the actual value is obtained after each cycle the composition and viscosity selected and saved as a new setpoint.
  • this new setpoint changes in temperature and changes in Speed of sound due to the machine running time already taken into account, so that the corresponding correction values are not stored in the computer as a long series of numbers Need to become. Rather, you always work with a current setpoint, and then the corrections due to temperature changes and machine runtime have already been carried out are. Practical tests have shown that these are proportionate short control cycles with readjustment of the setpoint much better and more precise Get results.
  • the inventive method of measuring and controlling the composition and the viscosity can be done for multiple colors at the same time.
  • the electronic control can be carried out by a suitable device so that the control all channels is possible with the help of a single control unit. Even the regulation is done by this one device for all channels together.
  • Fig. 1 the schematic structure of a printing press is shown, which according to the invention Process works.
  • the paint 2 is in a paint tray (paint container) 1, in which immerses a dipping roller 3 rotating in the direction of the arrow. This transmits the Color on the cliché cylinder 4 on which the cliché is arranged. With this cliché cylinder the continuous film 5 is printed, with an impression cylinder 6 ensures that the film 5 is sufficiently strong against the plate cylinder.
  • the paint 2, which is located in the paint tray 1, is shown with the help of a Paint pump constantly renewed.
  • a mixing container 7 and a measuring chamber 8 are arranged in the paint circuit, which are shown in FIG are shown.
  • the paint passes through the tube 9 from the paint container 1 via an initially opened first valve 10 in the measuring chamber 8 and passes through it to then in to reach the mixing container 7. Excess paint, especially if the first Valve 10, as described below, is closed by an overflow pipe 11 in drain the mixing tank 7.
  • a temperature sensor is located in the measuring chamber 8 12 and ultrasound transmitter / receiver 13. With the aid of the ultrasound transmitter / receiver 13 is the running time of ultrasonic pulses and thus the speed of sound in the color measured from which the composition can be determined, since the speed of sound is known to depend on the composition.
  • the first valve 10 After a certain Time the first valve 10 is closed and a vent valve 14 is opened, so that the color can leak out of the measuring chamber 8.
  • a vent valve 14 After a certain Time the first valve 10 is closed and a vent valve 14 is opened, so that the color can leak out of the measuring chamber 8.
  • the outflow speed can then be determined from this and thus the viscosity can be determined. It will be useful At the outlet of the measuring chamber 8, a defined constriction, not shown in FIG. 2, is provided his.
  • valves 17, 18 paint or dilution.
  • the first valve 10, the vent valve 14, the valves 17 and 18 and the temperature sensor 12 and the ultrasonic transmitter / receiver 13 are what is not shown in the figure is, with suitable control devices, in particular a microprocessor or Computer connected so that the regulation can run accordingly.
