Definitions
- the present invention relates to a device for limitation of the mechanical power likely to be supplied by an oscillating weight rotating in a cage and eccentrically mounted on a holding mobile for drive an energy generator operating an instrument small volume.
- the invention relates to such device arranged in a wristwatch to wind up a mechanical movement or to power a circuit electronic.
- the invention may relate to a unit electronics associated with reception means and / or transmission of electromagnetic signals.
- the timepiece includes a mass oscillating winding supported by an elastic arm thin, intended to absorb the axial shocks that can undergo the mass.
- This arm is integral with a pinion meshing with a toothed sector.
- the latter carries a cooperating pawl with the ratchet of the barrel.
- Two shock absorbing springs limit mass oscillations.
- the elastic arm is not rectilinear, but extends in a zigzag so as to absorb the radial shocks to which the mass is subjected. In this document, there is no suggestion that the mass should come touch the cage in which it moves to brake this if the mechanical power developed by it exceeds those supplied in normal use of the watch.
- the friction is calculated so that the wheel slips on the tree when a shock is applied to the mass or, if we prefer, when the torque applied to the rotor exceeds one admissible value. This avoids any breakage of the mechanism. Note however that in manufacturing in large series, friction of constant value is difficult to insure and therefore requires adjustments which take time.
- the present invention is remarkable in that the cage has a path support part of the housing that includes the instrument, this support path being arranged at low distance of the path traveled by the oscillating mass and that the oscillating mass is elastically mounted on said holding mobile so as to come into contact with said path to support and brake said mass when it provides a mechanical power significantly exceeding those supplied in normal use of said instrument.
- the power limitation device according to the invention is shown in section in FIG. 1.
- a watch case comprising a middle part 15, a notched base 17 and a crystal 23.
- This box encloses a movement 20 surmounted by a dial 22.
- movement 20 could be an electronic unit used for example for a looking for people called pager.
- this unit could be combined with a movement of shows as described in the document EP-A-0 569 868.
- Figure 1 shows an oscillating weight 1 rotating in a cage formed by the box, this mass being mounted eccentrically on a holding mobile 4 (see also figure 2).
- the holding mobile 4 drives an energy generator suitable for operating a small volume instrument which can be a timepiece or a pager, or the combinations of the two, as expressed above.
- the energy generator can be a mounted spring in a barrel as is well known from watches to automatic winding.
- the mechanical connection existing between the oscillating mass and the barrel can be performed, for example, as described in the document CH-A-143 763.
- the energy generator can be a generator producing an electrical voltage as described for example in document EP-B-0 547 083 where the connection mechanics between the mass and the generator is explained.
- the cage formed by the box has a support path 2, this path being placed a short distance from the path traveled by the mass oscillating 1.
- this mass will come touch support path 2 and will be braked by said support path when it provides mechanical power significantly exceeding those supplied in normal use of the instrument.
- the mechanical power susceptible to be supplied by the oscillating mass is limited to a value above which the mechanism would be inevitably deteriorated either by breaking the tree supporting the mass, either by breaking the teeth of the gear train transmission, as we said in the preamble to this description.
- the holding mobile 4 is a ring 5 at the periphery of which are formed or cut two opposite arms 6 and 7.
- a nipple 8 is disposed at the birth 9 of arms 6 and 7, nipple on which is likely to rotate the mass 1.
- the mass 1 is held in place by nipples 10 and 11, the nipple 10 being disposed at the end 12 of the arm 6 and the stud 11 being disposed at the end 13 of the arm 7.
- a wheel (not shown) which meshes in a known manner with the mechanism driving the energy generator, whether it's a spring winding a barrel or generator producing an electrical voltage.
- the oscillating mass 1 is made of heavy material, for example in cast iron.
- the retaining ring 5 can be made of plastic, as well as arms 6 and 7 which are attached to it.
- Nipples 8, 10 and 11 can be come together with the ring 5. If they are made in plastic material, it will be understood that once the mass 1 placed on the ring 5, it will suffice to heat the end nipples 10 and 11 for riveting the mass 1 on the ring 5.
- the area 32 of the end 31 of the mass 1 comes to touch the path support 2 and brakes mass 1.
- the end 31 of the mass 1 approaches the center of the ring in the direction of arrow B2
- the end 30 deviates from it in the direction of the arrow A2 and it is the zone 33 of the end 30 of the mass 1 which comes to touch the support path 2 to brake the mass.
- the way to resiliently mount the mass 1 on the retaining ring 5 is not limited to the execution shown in Figures 2 and 3.
- the constant elastic of the arm or spring will be chosen so that the braking of the mass occurs as soon as the power mechanics provided by the oscillating mass exceeds those supplied in normal use, therefore exceeds a certain limit.
- a mass acceleration of 500 g as a limit value.
- the support path forming part of the cage the instrument can be performed in different ways.
- a first way is shown in figure 1.
- the path support 2 comprises a first support ring 14 making part of the middle 15 that has the box 5 and a second ring 16 forming part of the bottom 17 of the same box. It is observed that a space 18 is provided between the two rings, space in which a bead can rotate 19 in the form of a niche, this bead being disposed on the outer edge of the mass 1.
- the mass 1 On either side of the bead 19, the mass 1 has a first arcuate zone 40 likely to come into contact with the first support ring 14 and a second arcuate zone 41 likely to come touch the second support ring 16 to ensure the effect brake system claimed.
- the bead 19 in the form of niche inserted between the two rings is intended to limit the impact that the mass could take during shocks axial, i.e. directed in the direction of the shaft around which the mass revolves, these shocks can lead at the rupture of the mass-bearing tree if this limitation did not exist.
- Figure 1 also shows that the first ring 14 can also be used as a casing circle at movement 20 that the instrument comprises.
- FIG. 4 A second way of making support path 2 is shown in figure 4.
- this support path presents the shape of a stirrup 25 inside which can oscillate the mass 1.
- mass 1 is devoid of bead and its outer edge is straight. During radial shocks, this edge touches the bottom of the caliper 25 to brake the mass.
- Wings 42 and 43 of the stirrup 25 are intended to limit the amount of time the mass 1 during axial shocks, as explained upper. Note that to facilitate the mounting of the mass in the stirrup, the wing 43 can be attached to the caliper afterwards or be part of the bottom 17 of the box.
