  • the props 15 can be blocked in their slots 21 in any position whatever by means of dowel screws 22 which are screwed into one side of the second plate 14 and can be reached with a spanner through corresponding holes made in the stock.
  • the dowel screws 22 can be tightened directly against the side of the props, but, in order to avoid wear of the prop surfaces, it is preferable that they block the props through an interposed plate 23 - Figs 1 and 7. This small plate is held in the cavity of the second plate by a screw 24, for example, and allows the blocking force to be distributed over a wider surface area of the props, than if the dowel screws were tightened directly against the props themselves.
  • the slotted holes 17 allow the cheek-rest to move sideways, both to left and to right, with respect to the gunstock. Furthermore, once the dowel screws 22 have been loosened, the props 15 allow the height of the cheek-rest above the gunstock to be varied at will, as well as allowing the cheek-rest to be angled backward and forward as required, thanks to the shape of the props and their being fixed with enough play in their respective slots in the second plate.
  • Scales which are mounted on several parts of the device indicate visually the sideways positioning, the height and the angle of the cheek-rest above the gunstock.
