Definitions
- Such a device is intended for the creation of patterns by means of decorative lances, that is to say of pyrotechnic compositions presented in a tubular envelope or in a stick, which burn by producing colored flames.
- the support is produced by assembling the different wooden battens.
- the realization of the support is delicate especially when one wants to accurately reproduce a pattern made of curves.
- the assembly thus produced is relatively fragile.
- each mesh of the mesh is suitable for receiving a decor lance through the respective base.
- the screened support produced in a standardized manner whatever the reasons envisaged, can offer complete security in terms of robustness and rigidity to ensure a firm connection of the decor lances via the respective bases.
- the support can be constituted by the mesh alone, if the latter is chosen to be rigid enough to be self-supporting and not to bend under the weight of the decor lances and the bases whatever their number, which offers the advantage of allowing the support to be shaped as desired by plastic deformation of the mesh.
- the support can also include a rigid auxiliary support carrying the mesh securely by stiffening it; this auxiliary support can itself have various forms such as a Saint Andrew cross, ladder or espalier shape, but, according to a preferred embodiment in terms of ease and economy of manufacture, robustness and 'Ability to effectively stiffen the mesh, it has the shape of a frame bordering the mesh.
- the fixing of a base in any one of the meshes of the mesh takes place simply and quickly.
- it offers all the security required against an accidental posting, the consequences of which could be serious, and a certain flexibility, mainly due to the presence of the mesh, which avoids inadvertently breaking the decor lances when handling the decor panel.
- the bases thus designed can be produced in large series by simple, reliable and economical processes, from a material chosen from a group comprising metals, metal alloys and plastics.
- the bases so as to give the axis of the decorative lances, at least with a good approximation, any orientation chosen with respect to the grating, whether this orientation is at least approximately perpendicular to the grating or that it is substantially oblique with respect thereto, or even substantially parallel thereto.
- each decorative lance in the respective base can be carried out, for example by gluing and interlocking or simply by force fitting respectively in the spring or in the tubular end piece, before or after integral insertion of the base in a respective mesh, suitably chosen, of the mesh.
- each base thus integrally carries a respective decorative lance
- the latter has, opposite the respective base, a free end of pyrotechnic initiation.
- the free ends of pyrotechnic initiation of the various decorative lances can themselves be connected to each other, by means of pyrotechnic connection means, before or after the connection of the decorative lances with the respective bases, or even before or after insertion. of these bases in the respective meshes of the mesh.
- conventional mutual pyrotechnic connection means comprising a wick enclosed in a conduit which is cut to the right of each lance so that the wick is in contact with the priming surface thereof, using an adhesive tape to keep everything in place by tying.
- the pyrotechnic connection means in the form of an adhesive tape folded in half on itself to coat the free ends of the decoration lances and, between them, a bead of pyrotechnic composition.
- pyrotechnic adhesive tape allows easy installation on the free ends of the lances and ensures good resistance of the connection on the latter, by bonding thereon.
- this ribbon can be composed in such a way that its combustion does not disturb the decor effect, in particular by allowing an almost simultaneous initiation of all the lances.
- the bead of pyrotechnic composition can be produced from black granular powder, the adhesive tape possibly comprising a support made of polypropylene, paper or the like.
- a pyrotechnic adhesive tape makes it possible to prefabricate a string of decorative lances, whether or not provided with their fixing bases in the grating, and thus limits the operations to perform for the realization of a specific pattern. Indeed, these operations are then limited to the insertion of the bases in the respective meshes, suitably chosen, of the mesh and if necessary the insertion of each lance in its base.
- the rosary thus prefabricated can be protected, before the realization of the pattern, by packaging in a plastic sheath.
- a rigid auxiliary support has been designated by 1 here constituted by a rigid and flat frame, for example rectangular, of which only a corner 2 has been illustrated in FIG. 1, defined by the integral connection, at right angles, to two rigid, straight bars 3, 4 which can be made of any suitable material and for example wood, metal, plastic.
- the frame 1 is thus defined by two bars such as the bar 3, mutually parallel, and by two bars such as the bar 4, mutually parallel and each connected, at right angles, to the two bars such as 3.
- a grid 6 which preferably has square meshes 7, mutually identical, defined by substantially straight wires 8 parallel to bars such as 3 and by substantially straight wires 9 parallel to bars such as 4.
- Two neighboring wires 8, as well as two neighboring wires 9, are mutually spaced by the same distance 1, for example around 6.5 to 15 mm, defining the width of a mesh 7.
- the wires 8 and 9 can be made of any suitable material, substantially inextensible under the stress conditions to which the mesh 6 can be subjected during the use of the firework decor panel; they are preferably metallic.
- the mesh 6 can also be fixed on the aforementioned spacers, in a manner not shown but easily understandable by a Tradesman.
- Each of the meshes 7 of the mesh 6 is capable of receiving a respective base 10 for receiving a respective decorative lance 11 so that, by the choice of the meshes 7 in which these bases 10 are engaged, any desired pattern can be produced, on a flat face 14 of the grid 6 opposite the frame 1, by means of decorative lances 11.
- each base 10 is constituted by a helical spring 12 with contiguous turns, for example metallic or plastic, having an axis 13 which, when the base thus formed is secured to the grid 6, is oriented perpendicular to the face 14 thereof.
- the spring 12 has, with reference to its axis 13, an outside diameter, not referenced, slightly greater than the dimension 1 so that each spring 12 can be screwed into the desired mesh 7, applying elastically a pinch between two of its turns with wires 8 and 9 which delimit this mesh 7. A screwing over two or three turns is sufficient, starting from the face 14 of the mesh 6.
- the spring 12 preferably has at one of its ends, by which it is intended to be screwed into the mesh 6, or at its two ends to be reversible, a straight tab 15 consisting of a straight area of the wire which constitutes it, tangentially extending the last turn over a distance just sufficient to facilitate the engagement of this wire with the wires 8 and 9 delimiting the mesh 7 in which it is desired to screw the spring 12.
- the bases 10 thus formed are mounted in the meshes 7 of the mesh 6 which are respectively allocated to them before a decorative lance 11 is mounted in each of the bases 10, by coaxial fitting of each decor lance 11 into the respective spring 12.
- the decorative lances 11 usually have a rectilinear shape and are delimited by an outer peripheral face 16 of cylindrical revolution around an axis which will be considered to coincide with the axis 13, which corresponds in its position when a decor lance 11 is engaged in the spring 12 respectively associated.
- This face 16 has a non-referenced, determined diameter, which itself determines an internal diameter, also not referenced, of the spring 12 so that the interlocking of an end zone 17 of the decor lance 11 in the spring 12 s 'performs without play between the face 16 and the inner periphery of the spring 12.
- this interlocking can be preceded by gluing of the end zone 17 of the decor lance 11, in which case there is no need for a tight adjustment between the face 16 and the inner periphery of the spring. 12, or else provide for a mutual securing of the decor lance 11 with the spring 12 by force fitting into the latter, which requires a tight fit between the face 16 and the spring 12.
- the internal diameter of the spring 12 in the rest state that is to say when no stress is applied to it and in particular before the decoration lance is force-fitted, or slightly less than the diameter of the face 16 of the decor lance 11 respectively associated.
- the internal diameter can be temporarily increased in an extreme zone of the spring 12 axially opposite its extreme zone of screwing in the mesh 6 up to a value at less equal to that of the diameter of the face 16, by applying to the spring 12 an elastic torsional moment in the direction of unwinding, for example over a quarter turn; the present of a rectilinear tab 15 also at the end of the spring 12 opposite its screwing end in the mesh 6 facilitates the application of such a moment, by hand; as soon as the end zone 17 of the decor lance 11 is considered to be sufficiently engaged in the spring 12, the above-mentioned moment is stopped and the spring 12, tending elastically to return to the state of rest, elastically applies a radial stress clamping area 17 of the decor lance 11, so as to hold it together.
- the spring 12 internally as externally, a slightly frustoconical shape of revolution around the axis 13 instead of being cylindrical of revolution as is the case in the example illustrated in FIGS. 1 and 2, this frustoconical shape widening from a screwing end in the mesh 6, with an outside diameter slightly greater than the mesh width 1 of the mesh 6 and with an inner diameter less than diameter of the external face 16 of a respective decor lance 11, at one end for receiving the end zone 17 of this decor lance 11, of internal diameter slightly greater than the diameter of the external face 16 thereof.
- the end zone 17 of the decor lance 11 is secured to the spring 12 in inserting it coaxially, freely, into the corresponding end of the latter until this end zone 17 abuts therein, then by printing with the decor lance 11 a screwing movement in the spring 12, for example on a quarter turn. It is then possible to dispense with the rectilinear legs 15, the insertion of the spring 12 into the respective mesh 7 of the mesh 6 being facilitated by the generally frustoconical exterior shape of the spring 12 and the generally frustoconical interior shape of the latter making its temporary widening unnecessary. when inserting the respective decor lance 11.
- each decor lance 11 has an end zone 18 which, thus, is projecting on the face 14 and constitutes the zone of the decor lance 11 furthest from the mesh 6 and frame 1.
- this free end zone 18 of the lance 11 contains a pyrotechnic initiation composition and the free ends 18 thus formed are connected to each other by pyrotechnic connection means 19 which can be of any known type and can be put in place either after fixing the different decorative lances 11 in the bases 10, before or after fixing the latter in the meshes 7 of the mesh 6, or, preferably, before inserting the decorative lances 11 in the bases 10 in order to facilitate handling and to rationalize the mutual pyrotechnic connection of the free priming ends 18.
- one carries out beforehand inserting the decoration lances 11 into the bases 10 a chain 20 of decoration lances 11 connected to each other by the pyrotechnic connection means 19.
- a chain 20 is also illustrated in FIG. 6, and FIG. 5 illustrates a preferred embodiment of this chain, and more precisely of the means 19 for mutual pyrotechnic connection of the free priming ends 18.
- the means 19 are produced in the form of a ribbon 21, for example made of polypropylene or paper, advantageously having a width L of the order of 25 to 50 mm.
- One side 22 of this adhesive tape 21 is made by any suitable means and a line 23 of a pyrotechnic composition of the black powder type in grain form, of a width, is deposited along a median line of this side 22 ⁇ of the order of 8 to 12 mm, at a rate of 2 g per meter; it is understood that these figures are given only by way of nonlimiting example, as is this composition.
- the cord 23 thus produced is continuous, and adheres to the face 22 of the ribbon 21.
- the pyrotechnic priming ends 18 of decorative lances 11 are applied to the cord 23 and on the face 22 around it, orienting the axes 13 perpendicularly to this face 22 here considered as axes of the decoration lances 11, as illustrated, or else each decoration lance 11 is pressed by a zone of its face 16 corresponding to its end 18, on the face 22 of the ribbon 21, of a side of the cord 23, by placing the respective end 18 in the immediate vicinity thereof, in a manner not illustrated but easily understandable by a person skilled in the art, which places the pyrotechnic composition of the cord 23 in contact and therefore in relation to transmission of fire with the pyrotechnic ignition composition of each decor lance 11.
- the ribbon 21 is folded on itself, around the cord 23, so that its face 22 adheres on itself between the decorative lances 11, enclosing the cord 23, and adheres around the end zone 18 of each decor lance 11 by coating this end zone 18 and ensuring the permanence of its fire transmission relationship with the cord 23.
- a rosary 20 thus formed can be wound because of the flexibility of the ribbon 21 and easily packaged in sealed packaging, such as a plastic sheath, which makes it possible to protect it until it is used, that is to say until what we wish to use to make a pattern on the assembly formed by the frame 1 and the mesh 6.
- we unpack this chain and, preferably after having set up the bases 10 in the meshes 7 suitably chosen from the grid 6, the end zones 17 of the different lances 11 are engaged in a solid manner in the bases 10 which are respectively allocated to them.
- Such an embodiment of a chain 20 of decorative lances 11 mutually connected by the means 19 of pyrotechnic connection of their end zones 18 of pyrotechnic initiation is compatible with a mode embodiment of the bases 10 different from that which has been illustrated in FIGS. 1 and 2, for example with the embodiment of the bases 10 which has been illustrated in FIGS. 3 and 4 to which reference will now be made.
- bases 10 each of which can be hung integrally in a mesh 7 freely chosen from the mesh 6, but each of these bases 10 is made, for example of plastic, metal or metal alloy, preferably in a single piece 24, in a manner which will now be described.
- Each base 10 or part 24 in this case comprises a tubular end piece 23 having an axis oriented as was said of the axis 13 and common to the respective decor lance 11, so that the numerical reference 13 has been kept for this axis.
- the tubular end piece 23 has for example internally and externally a cylindrical shape of revolution around the axis 13, with a diameter not referenced, substantially equal respectively to the diameter of the outer peripheral face 16 of the decor lance 11 respectively associated, in order to allow the coaxial fitting of the latter in the endpiece 23, by its end zone 17, and its connection with this endpiece by any of the means described above in connection with the base 10 in the form of a spring 12, and at the width 1 of a mesh 7 between two neighboring wires 8 or between two neighboring wires 9, so that the tubular end piece 23 can fit into any one of the meshes 7 via the face 14 of the mesh 6.
- the tubular end piece 23 can open on either side along the axis 13. It can also be open only on one side, namely its side oriented like the face 14, through which it receives the end zone 17 of the respective decor lance 11, and be closed on the opposite side, in which case this end piece 23 has the shape of a bowl, as appears from the examination of FIG. 4, which provides the certainty of a precise positioning of the respective decoration lance 11 along the axis 13, relative to the base 10, by coming from the end zone 17 abutting the bottom of the bowl along the axis 13.
- the part 24 further comprises a pair of tongues 25 diametrically opposite with reference to the axis 13 and integral with the end piece 23 in the region thereof through which the end zone 17 of the respective decor lance 11 enters.
- Each of these tongues 25 has a flat, substantially rectangular shape, and is oriented perpendicular to the axis 13 in a position not shown which it tends to occupy naturally.
- the tongues 25 can also flex parallel to the axis 13, in particular to occupy a state of elastic bending illustrated in FIG. 4, from which they tend elastically to return to a coplanar conformation, perpendicular to the axis 13.
- Each of the tabs 25, considered not bent, presents from the tubular end piece 23 a respective length slightly greater than the width 1 of a mesh 7, with a width at most equal to this width 1 and preferably substantially equal to the latter.
- each tongue 25 from the tubular endpiece 25 must not be too great a value greater than the width 1 of a mesh, in order to avoid any difficulty in positioning of the base 10 on the mesh 6 and taking into account the low flexibility that the wires 8 and 9 constituting the latter can have when it is fixed to the frame 1.
- a difference of the order of a few millimeters between the length of each tab 25 and the dimension 1 is sufficient to ensure effective anchoring of the base 10 in the mesh 6 while allowing easy insertion of the tabs 25 inside the meshes 7 close to that in which the tip 23.
- this embodiment of the bases 10 is better compatible with an integral insertion of the decoration lances 11 in these bases before the latter are fixed in meshes 7 of the mesh 6 than the embodiment described with reference to FIGS. 1 and 2, the fact that the fixing of the bases 10 in the meshes of the mesh 6 is then carried out by simple snap-fastening, that is to say without screwing rotation.
- the same axis 13 constitutes both the axis common to each decoration lance 11 and to the part of the base 10 which receives the end zone 17 and the axis thereof, perpendicular to the grid 6, along which this base 10 is inserted into a mesh 7 thereof, so that the decoration lances are themselves oriented at least approximately perpendicular to the fence.
- the bases 10 it would not, however, depart from the scope of the present invention to give the bases 10 an angled configuration, easily conceivable by a person skilled in the art on reading the present description, so as to give the axis of the respective decor lance 11 a oblique orientation, or even approximately at right angles to the axis of insertion of the base 10 in a mesh 7 of the mesh 6, that is to say an orientation different from an orientation at right angles to to the grill 6.
