Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a smoking article designed to reduce the amount of smoke emitted by a cigarette, in particular reducing the amount of so-called smoke side stream smoke.
  • This last smoke is the smoke emitted by the hot end cigarettes. It is particularly visible between two aspirations of the smoker, for example when the cigarette rests on an ashtray.
  • the sleeve is in the form of a pipe segment , preferably rigid, of internal diameter approximately equal to the diameter of a cigarette.
  • This sleeve is made of metal, plastic or comes under the in the form of a thin layer of coiled inorganic paper.
  • Document US 4,703,766 describes a cylinder covering the most of a cigarette, intended to put out this in the absence of suction from the smoker during a certain period of time (from 10 to 30 seconds). It is a very long cylinder, preferably in tetrafluoroethylene, capable of covering the whole of a cigarette and which therefore also leads to condensation and taste alteration problems.
  • Patent document GB 928.089 describes a cigarette surrounded by a sleeve made from a sheet of cardboard or paper covered with metal foil.
  • the combustion of cigarettes is controlled by sliding or rotation of or of a sleeve element thus formed. It is therefore an impractical article because incorporating tobacco and not an article capable of accepting a store-bought cigarette.
  • a ring is proposed essentially cylindrical with the central part however domed.
  • the end to the hot end can be detached and replaced when the heat from the a lit cigarette damaged it.
  • the present invention consists in making improvements sensitive to this type of device by facilitating its handling by the smoker who uses it and facilitating daily and hygienic use.
  • the invention thus aims to propose a article to reduce the amount of smoke emanating from the tip burning from a cigarette, said article being constituted an elongated ring whose circular orifice allows said ring sliding with friction along said cigarette, under the influence of the user's fingers.
  • the ring includes at least one proximal part to be oriented from side to be sucked from the cigarette, made of material dimensionally stable, and a distal part intended for receive or approach the burning end of the cigarette.
  • the distal part is produced in a different material, said material being wood, scum seafood or terracotta.
  • the present invention consists in making improvements sensitive to this type of device by facilitating its handling by the smoker who uses it and facilitating daily and hygienic use.
  • a device comprising at least one part covering or approaching the burning end of the cigarette (distal part) and a separate grip part which is used for manipulation (proximal part).
  • the part covering or approaching the burning cigarette tip is made of a material used for the traditional pipe stove, plus particularly briar wood or sea foam.
  • the above-mentioned parts are preferably presented in the form of separate longitudinal segments secured by friction, screwing or gluing.
  • the article therefore includes a grip part in a more stable and more material economical, for example another wood or plastic.
  • This aspect of the invention allows industrial manufacturing.
  • the sleeve works as an effect extinguisher control. It can be pushed to the hot end and brought to a more proximal position, usually with fingers of the smoker's free hand. Manipulation can also, advantageously, to be done with the fingers of the hand who holds the cigarette, for example with the thumb to push the cigarette on the one hand and the thumb and ring finger to remove the cigarette. We can still, to make slide a very light sleeve, use only the index finger.
  • Moving the sleeve along the cigarette can also be done by holding the cigarette between lips, index and middle fingers grabbing the article as grabbing a cigarette in the conventional way and making it slide.
  • the user can easily acquire some dexterity to move the sleeve along the cigarette and thus control the emission of second-hand smoke. If at beginning of accidental extinctions can occur, very quickly this dexterity becomes effective and natural and even instinctive.
  • the invention can also provide many advantages due to slower combustion.
  • the article allows extinction and re-ignition an unlimited cigarette without the need for a ashtray, and without substantial taste alteration, unsightly crushing of the tip of the cigarette, or emission of smoke upon extinction.
  • slowing combustion may be desired in environments where it is too fast, e.g. outdoors and in the presence of wind.
  • the article according to the invention can be deposited horizontally on a table with the cigarette lit y inserted.
  • the distance between the laying surface and the container burning prevents any burning of said surface and if the cigarette is forgotten, it will turn off automatically.
  • the sleeve is a short sleeve of a non-flammable material at hot end temperature cigarette.
  • the sleeve comprises at least two parts functionally different namely a proximal part gripping and a distal part forming a combustion with controlled ventilation.
  • the device according to the invention will be made a wood, more preferably a wood that can be used to make traditional pipes, in particular pipe stoves. This will be for example heather or boxwood.
  • woods are a particularly material advantageous, among other things because the taste of the smoke sucked is little or not altered.
  • the sleeves can be formed by turning.
  • woods food such as beech
  • economical materials known for making pipes corn.
  • Heat stability is important in order to allow a constant friction between the cigarette and the device according to the invention. If the diameter of the sleeve increases by too much under the effect of heat, it may slip and fall out of the body of the cigarette.
  • the sleeve is made of at least two separable parts.
  • the two parts can be of different materials, for example wood of different species.
  • the part proximal, gripping can then be designed as a more worked and decorative element, and the distal part fitting by friction would be wooden and, according to a variant, replaceable like a cartridge after smoking a number of cigarettes.
  • these two parts can therefore be made of different materials, for example heather for the distal part and plastic for the part proximal.
  • the length of the sleeve is preferably such that the two fingers now the cigarette should be able to easily grip the sleeve at its proximal part, the distal part being alone intended to cover or approach the end hot and generally noticeably warmer.
  • the the proximal part advantageously comprises at least one hollow or an annular groove intended to receive the fingers of the user holding the sleeve with the cigarette there inserted.
  • the total length will typically be between 2 and 5 cm, from preferably 2.8 to 4.0 cm. A length of 3.2 cm is satisfactory for a large number of models different.
  • the percentage of the area airy can exceed 40%.
  • the inner face of this proximal part can also have longitudinal grooves which alone take friction support on the body of the cigarette and thus further facilitate ventilation of the paper.
  • the distal portion of the device may include fins, longitudinal or transverse, which dissipate the heat transmitted by the hot end. This avoids involuntary burns at the touch of a finger on this part which, depending on the material used, can be actually very hot.
  • the end of the distal part however includes an interior annular housing (counterbore) in which is fixed by friction a ring of a better adapted material and more resistant to heat, in particularly in heather, sea foam or terracotta.
  • the wall of the ring advantageously has a thickness greater than 1 mm (usually 0.5 mm to 4.5 mm). The ring can be easily replaced or simply removed and returned, returned, in the annular housing for thus offer a new annular focus area.
  • the cap is a cap cleaner with an abrasive wall susceptible remove any deposit from the inner wall of the tube at its distal end.
  • the cap can advantageously be suitable for also covering part of the wall the distal part of the sleeve.
  • the cap is screwed onto a thread present at the outer surface of the distal part of the sleeve, no screws which can act as cooling "fins", as mentioned above.
  • an independent abrasive element in the form of a tube or rod whose surface outer is abrasive, the tube being slightly conical and able to be introduced through the distal part of the sleeve.
  • the sleeve according to the invention is present in a container, for example in the form of a case, preferably rigid.
  • This case includes both complementary parts, integral or adaptable by friction.
  • a stopper, abrasive stopper or abrasive rod can be attached to the case which thus constitutes a kit.
  • This kit can include several sleeves or sleeve parts according to the invention.
  • the user can have several articles according to the invention in order to be able to smoke in circumstances and with slightly tastes different, and thus amplify the fun aspect of the invention. You can let a sleeve cool down or "rest", using another copy. The practice will be quite close to that of pipe smokers.
  • a guard at the end of the sleeve, or preferably at the end of the abovementioned proximal part of the sleeve in the form of a annular bead extending more or less perpendicular to the axis of the sleeve and surrounding it.
  • An ergonomic shape for gripping between the fingers of the user can be advantageously adopted in providing, in combination or not with the aforementioned bead, a second bead at the proximal end, the fingers thus fitting into a well-formed annular groove.
  • the proximal end of the article may have a beveled edge opening or a flared opening for facilitate the introduction of the cigarette into the sleeve, usually before the cigarette is lit.
  • Fig. 1 is a representation of a simple sleeve 1 according to the prior art.
  • Fig. 2 is a representation of a sleeve according to art anterior with a proximal part 2 pierced mouth side circular holes 3.
  • Fig. 3 is a representation of a sleeve having a bevelled edge 4 and internal grooving 5 favoring the aeration of the paper, the grooving extending only over the proximal part A of the sleeve.
  • This embodiment can also include openings according to fig. 2.
  • Fig. 4 shows a sleeve according to the invention with a gripping part with end beads 6 favoring the grip or the manipulation of the sleeve between the user's fingers.
  • the distal part is at left.
  • Fig. 5 shows an article according to FIG. 4 which is associated with a cigarette 7 in the waiting position, say without aspiration.
  • the glowing ashes 8 do have little or no smoke when inside distal part of the sleeve. The end of this part is found at the level of unburnt paper.
  • Fig. 6 is a perspective figure of the article according to figs. 4 and 5.
  • Figs. 7 and 8 show longitudinal views of devices according to the invention in which the orifices of the proximal part are elongated and cross.
  • the distal part of the device illustrated in fig. 8 includes a housing in which a ring can be fixed by friction, ring which will be in a more material heat resistant than the main body of the object.
  • a plug adaptable by friction comprising a conical part 16, a cylindrical part abrasive 17 allowing to eliminate possible deposits which interfere with the proper sliding of the cigarette or readjust the hearth diameter if it is made of material likely to "move” (eg heather, in particular in “running in”).
  • the head of the plug 18 can include a peripheral flap portion (not shown) partially extending over the outer surface of the sleeve.
  • FIG. 9 illustrates an article according to the invention currently preferred.
  • the middle part is integral and integral with the distal part which is made of a material 37 which can be briar wood.
  • the length of the intermediate part can vary e.g. from 2 to 5mm.
  • two beads 35 integrated into the part proximal and cooling fins (36 in chopped off).
  • Figure 10 illustrates the same article, at full scale this time (3 cm in length), dissociated in these two components normally joined together by friction or gluing.
  • the cavity 39 in which the part intermediate 32 with a diameter of 8.0 mm extended by the distal part is housed.
  • the distal part is provided of transverse fins, the outside diameter being 14 mm and the inner diameter 8.07 mm.
  • Figure 11 illustrates another embodiment in which the distal part 41 comes to be housed entirely, for example by friction, in the proximal part 42 extending towards its end in a support structure 43 sufficiently perforated.
  • the throttle part 42 is integrated into the part proximal.
  • the invention relates to any aspect, taken in isolation or in any combination, new and inventive, and disclosed in this description.
  • the invention therefore provides an article for a simple smoker, economical, compact, hygienic, very significantly limiting lateral current smoke emission, allowing the easy re-lighting of a cigarette, having an appearance fun with multiple modes of use and combining the qualities of taste for safety and ease use.
