Abstract
Verfahren zur Herstellung von Carbonsäuren oder deren Estern aus Olefinen und Kohlenmonoxid in Gegenwart von Wasser oder Alkoholen bei Temperaturen von 100 bis 270 °C und Drücken von 30 bis 100 bar dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß man als halogenfreies Katalysatorsystem eine Mischung aus a) Nickel oder einer Nickelverbindung, b) mindestens einem der Metalle der Gruppe Chrom, Molybdän, Wolfram, Rhenium, Ruthenium, Osmium, Rhodium, Iridium Palladium, Platin, Silber, Gold oder einer Verbindung dieser Metalle und c) mindestens einer nichtmetallischen Verbindung aus der Gruppe der tertiären oder quartären Stickstoff-, Phosphor- oder Arsenverbindungen und der stickstoffhaltigen heterocyclischen Verbindungen, einsetzt.

Verfahren zur Herstellung von Carbonsäuren oder deren Estern durch Carbonylierung von Olefinen
Beschreibung
Die vorliegende Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren zur Herstellung von Carbonsäuren oder deren Estern durch Umsetzung eines Olefins mit Kohlenmonoxid in Gegenwart von Wasser oder Alkoholen und eines halogenfreien Katalysatorsystems, einer Mischung aus Nickel oder einer Nickelverbindung, mindestens einem Edelmetall oder dessen Verbindung sowie einer nichtmetallischen Stickstoff-, Arsen- oder Phosphorverbindung, bei einem Druck von 30 bis 100 bar und 100 bis 270°C.
Weissermel et al. beschreiben in Industrielle Organische Chemie, 1978, 2. Auflage, Verlag Chemie, S. 132 die Carbonylierung von Olefinen nach dem Reppe-Verfahren, beispielsweise die Herstellung von Propionsäure aus Ethylen, Kohlenmonoxid und Wasser in Gegen- wart von Katalysatoren. Als Katalysator wird Nickelpropionat eingesetzt, das sich unter Reaktionsbedingungen zu Nickelcarbonyl umsetzt. Ein hoher Umsatz des Ethylens wird nur bei hohen Drücken (200-240 bar) erzielt. Diese Reaktionsbedingungen erfordern einen hohen technischen Aufwand beim Bau geeigneter Reaktoren sowie - bedingt durch die Korrosivit t des Produktes unter den Reaktionbedingungen - besondere und teure Werkstoffe.
Die GB-A 1 063 617 lehrt die Carbonylierung von Olefinen mit Nickel- und Cobaltkatalysatoren in Gegenwart von Borsäure. Auch hierzu sind hohe Drücke und Temperaturen erforderlich.
Carbonylierungen von Olefinen können mit Edelmetallkatalysatoren bei Drücken von ca. 100 bar durchgeführt werden. So lehrt die EP-A 495 547 Katalysatoren, die aus einer Palladiumquelle und zweizähnigen Phosphinliganden bestehen. Solche Katalysatoren werden aber häufig nach kurzer Reaktionsdauer durch Abscheidung metallischen Palladiums desaktiviert; insbesondere sind die eingesetzten Phosphinliganden unter den gewünschten Reaktions- bedingungen nicht thermostabil.
Die DE-A 4 424 710 beschreibt die Carbonylierung von Olefinen mit einer Mischung aus Nickel oder einer NickelVerbindung und einem Edelmetall oder einer Edelmetallverbindung als Katalysatorsystem. Das beschriebene Verfahren ist jedoch in Hinsicht auf die Selektivität und Aktivität bezüglich der herzustellenden Pro-
dukte, insbesondere bei Drücken unter 100 bar, noch nicht befriedigend.
Es stellte sich daher die Aufgabe, ein Verfahren zur Carbony- lierung von Olefinen bereitzustellen, das die oben angegebenen Nachteile vermeidet und bezüglich seiner Selektivität und Aktivität, bei Drücken bis zu 100 bar, verbessert ist.
Demgemäß wurde ein neues und verbessertes Verfahren zur Her- Stellung von Carbonsäuren oder deren Estern aus Olefinen und Kohlenmonoxid in Gegenwart von Wasser oder Alkoholen und eines halogenfreien Katalysatorsystems bei Temperaturen von 100 bis 270°C und Drücken von 30 bis 100 bar, bevorzugt 30 bis 80 bar, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß man als Katalysatorsystem eine Mischung aus
a) Nickel oder einer Nickelverbindung,
b) mindestens einem der Metalle der Gruppe Chrom, Molybdän, Wolfram, Rhenium, Ruthenium, Osmium, Rhodium, Iridium,
Palladium, Platin, Silber, Gold oder einer Verbindung dieser Metalle und
c) mindestens einer nichtmetallischen Verbindung aus der Gruppe der tertiären oder quartären Stickstoff-, Phosphor- oder Arsenverbindungen und der stickstoffhaltigen heterocyclischen Verbindungen, eingesetzt
Durch das erfindungsgemäße Verfahren konnte die Aktivität und die Selektivität gegenüber dem in der DE-A 4 424 710 beschriebenen Katalysatorsystem, insbesondere bei niedrigen Drücken bis zu 100 bar, erheblich verbessert werden. Zudem ist das in dem erfindungsgemäßen Verfahren verwendete Katalysatorsystem auch bei niedrigen Wasserkonzentrationen von 0,5 bis 5 mol Wasser pro Mol Olefin so aktiv, daß die Herstellung von Carbonsäuren ermöglicht wird, die bereits im Reaktionsaustrag einen Wassergehalt von unter 1 % aufweisen, wodurch die Aufarbeitung des Reaktionsproduktes erheblich vereinfacht wird.
Die folgende Reaktionsgleichung verdeutlicht das erfindungsgemäße Verfahren am Beispiel der Umsetzung von Ethylen zu Propionsäure:
Als Ausgangsstoffe für das erfindungsgemäße Verfahren kommen aliphatische und cycloaliphatische Alkene mit vorzugsweise 2 bis 20, besonders bevorzugt 2 bis 7 Kohlenstoffatomen in Betracht. Beispielhaft sind Ethylen, Propylen, iso-Buten, 1-Buten, 2 -Buten und die Isomeren des Pentens und Hexens sowie Cyclohexen zu nennen, von denen Ethylen bevorzugt ist.
Diese Olefine werden zur Herstellung von Carbonsäuren mit Wasser oder zur Herstellung von Carbonsäureestern mit Alkoholen umge- setzt. Diese Alkohole umfassen aliphatische und cycloaliphatische Verbindungen mit bevorzugt 1 bis 20 Kohlenstoffatomen, besonders bevorzugt mit 1 bis 6 Kohlenstoffatomen, wie Methanol, Ethanol, n-Propanol, iso-Propanol, tert . -Butanol, Stearylalkohol, Diole wie Ethylenglykol, 1, 2 -Propandiol und 1, 6 -Hexandiol sowie Cyclo- hexanol. Werden Diole umgesetzt, können je nach den gewählten stöchiometrischen Verhältnissen Mono- und Diester erhalten werden, wobei zur Herstellung von Diestern das Diol und das Olefin im molaren Verhältnis von etwa 1:2 und zur Herstellung der Monoester das Diol im Überschuß eingesetzt werden.
Die genannten Ausgangsverbindungen werden mit Kohlenmonoxid umgesetzt, wobei dieses in reiner Form oder verdünnt mit inerten Gasen wie Stickstoff oder Argon eingesetzt werden kann.
Die molaren Verhältnisse der Ausgangsverbindungen Olefin und Wasser oder Alkohol können in weiten Grenzen variieren, jedoch wird in der Regel mindestens eine äquimolare Menge an Wasser bzw. Alkohol eingesetzt. Bei der Herstellung von Carbonsäuren können 0,5 bis 10 mol Wasser pro mol Olefin, bevorzugt 0,5 bis 5 mol, eingesetzt werden.
Auch das molare Verhältnis von Olefin zu Kohlenmonoxid kann stark variiert werden, wobei ein molares Verhältnis von 5:1 bis 1:5 mol Olefin pro mol Kohlenmonoxid bevorzugt ist.
In dem erfindungsgemäßen Verfahren wird als halogenfreies Katalysatorsystem eine Mischung aus
a) Nickel oder einer Nickelverbindung,
b) mindestens einem der Metalle der Gruppe Chrom, Molybdän, Wolfram, Rhenium, Ruthenium, Osmium, Rhodium, Iridium, Palladium, Platin, Silber, Gold oder einer Verbindung dieser Metalle und
c) mindestens einer nichtmetallischen Verbindung aus der Gruppe der tertiären oder quartären Stickstoff-, Phosphor- oder Arsenverbindungen und der stickstoffhaltigen heterocyclischen Verbindungen, eingesetzt.
Damit sich die aktiven Nickel -Verbindungen bilden können, werden dem Reaktionsgemisch zweckmäßigerweise darin lösliche Verbindungen, wie beispielsweise Acetate, Propionate, Acetyl- acetonate, Hydroxide und Carbonate oder Mischungen dieser Verbindungen zugesetzt. Es ist aber auch möglich, Ni(CO) sowie Nickelmetall in das Reaktionsgemisch einzutragen. Besonders bevorzugt ist es, die Nickelkomponente in Form von Salzen der bei der Reaktion gebildeten Carbonsäuren einzutragen.
Als zweite Katalysatorkomponente dient mindestens eines der
Metalle oder eine Verbindung dieser Metalle aus der Gruppe Chrom, Molybdän, Wolfram, Rhenium, Ruthenium, Osmium, Rhodium, Iridium, Palladium, Platin, Silber, Gold, von denen Rhodium und Palladium bevorzugt, Ruthenium und Platin besonders bevorzugt sind. Diese Metalle können beispielsweise als Salze, wie sie vorstehend für Nickel angegeben sind, in die Reaktionslösung eingebracht werden, das heißt als Acetate, Propionate, Acetylacetonate, Hydroxide oder Carbonate. Weiterhin kommen CarbonylVerbindungen in Betracht, insbesondere Chromhexacarbonyl , Molybdänhexacarbonyl, Wolframhexacarbonyl, Dirheniumdecacarbonyl, Trirutheniumdodeca- carbonyl, Triosmiumdodecacarbonyl und Carbonylverbindungen, die weitere Liganden tragen wie Rhodiumdicarbonylacetylacetonat oder durch Donorliganden wie Phosphine, Arsine und Stickstoffbasen sowie Olefine stabilisierte Metallverbindungen. Platin kann auch als Dibenzalacetonplatin eingesetzt werden. Ruthenium wird vorzugsweise als Acetylacetonat eingesetzt. Die Metalle liegen in der Reaktionsmischung je nach den Löslichkeitsverhältnissen gelöst oder suspendiert vor. Die Metalle oder Verbindungen dieser Metalle der Katalysatorkomponente b) önnen auch auf organischen oder anorganischen inerten Trägern, wie zum Beispiel Aktivkohle, Graphit, Aluminiumoxid, Zirkonoxid und Siliciumoxid, verwendet werden .
Als dritte Katalysatorkomponente dient mindestens eine nichtme- tallische Verbindung aus der Gruppe der tertiären oder quartären Stickstoff-, Phosphor- oder Arsenverbindungen und der stickstoffhaltigen heterocyclischen Verbindungen.
Unter quartären Stickstoff-, Phosphor- oder Arsenverbindungen werden, die quatären Ammonium-, Arsonium und Phosphoniumsalze verstanden.
Als quartäre Stickstoff-, Arsen- oder PhosphorVerbindung enthält die dritte Katalysatorkomponente c) bevorzugt eine Verbindung der allgemeinen Formel (I)
worin E Stickstoff, Phosphor oder Arsen bedeutet, X" ein halogen- freies Anion wie ein Nitration oder ein Hydroxydion, besonders bevorzugt jedoch ein Anion der bei der Reaktion gebildeten Carbonsäure, darstellt, und R1, R2, R3 und R4 aliphatische Reste wie Alkylgruppen, die bevorzugt 1 bis 18 Kohlenstoffatome tragen und geradkettig oder verzweigt sind, besonders bevorzugt Ci bis C8 -Alkylgruppen wie Methyl, Ethyl, n-Propyl, n-Butyl und Octyl, darstellen.
R1, R2, R3 und R4 können auch für einen cycloaliphatischen Rest wie Cyclopentyl oder Cyclohexyl, einen aromatischen Rest wie Phenyl oder einen durch Alkylgruppen substituierten aromatischen Rest wie Tolyl oder einen araliphatischen Rest wie Benzyl stehen.
Als tertiäre Stickstoff-, Phosphor- oder Arsenverbindung enthält die dritte Katalysatorkomponente c) bevorzugt eine Verbindung der allgemeinen Formel (II)

Als stickstoff altige heterocyclische Verbindung eignen sich als dritte Katalysatorkomponente c) Pyridin, durch Cι_- bis C4-Alkyl ein- bis dreifach substituiertes Pyridin , Chinolin, Isochinolin, Pyrimidin, Pyridazin, Pyrazin, Pyrazol, Imidazol, Thiazol und Oxazol, bevorzugt gegebenenfalls durch Ci- bis C -Alkyl einfach substituiertes Pyridin, Chinolin, Isochinolin, Pyrimidin,
Pyridazin, Pyrazin, Pyrazol, Imidazol, Thiazol und Oxazol sowie deren am Stickstoff N-Ci- bis C -alkylierten oder N,N-Cι- bis C -dialkylierten Salze mit halogenfreien Anionen X", wobei X" die vorstehend genannte Bedeutung zukommt, bevorzugt Pyridin, N-Me- thylpyridiniumsalze, Imidazol und N,N-Dimethylimidazoliniumsalze.
Das Molverhältnis des in der ersten Komponente a) des Katalysatorsystems enthaltenen Nickels zur zweiten Katalysator - komponente b) liegt bei 1:1 bis 100 000:1, bevorzugt bei 100:1 bis 50 000:1. Der Gehalt der Reaktionslösung an den katalytisch aktiven Metallen der Komponenten a) und b) beträgt insgesamt 0,1 bis 5 Gew.-%, berechnet als Metall. Das Molverhältnis des Nickels der Komponente a) zur dritten nichtmetallischen Katalysator - komponente c) liegt im allgemeinen bei 2:1 bis 1:20, bevorzugt bei 1:1 bis 1:10. Der Gehalt der Reaktionslösung an der nicht - metallischen Katalysatorkomponente c) beträgt 1 bis 50 Gew.-%.
Die Umsetzung kann ohne oder mit einem Lösungsmittel durchgeführt werden. Dazu kommen Lösungsmittel wie Aceton, Ether, Dioxan, Dirnethoxyethan, Tetraethylenglykoldimethylether, aprotische polare Lösungsmittel wie N-Methylpyrrolidon und aromatische Kohlenwasserstoffe wie Toluol in Betracht. Es ist bevorzugt, die Umsetzung zur Herstellung von Carbonsäuren in der 20 bis 95 Gew. -%igen, bevorzugt 50 bis 80 Gew. -%igen, wäßrigen Carbonsäure durchzuführen.
Die Herstellung der Carbonsäureester nach dem erfindungsgemäßen Verfahren wird bevorzugt in dem jeweiligen Alkohol, der 1 bis 5 Gew. -% Wasser enthalten kann, als Lösungsmittel durchgeführt.
Bei der Herstellung von Propionsäure ist die Verwendung von wässriger Propionsäure als Lösungsmittel bevorzugt.
Die Reaktion wird in der Regel bei 100 bis 270°C, vorzugsweise 170 bis 250°C und Drücken von 30 bis 100 bar, vorzugsweise 30 bis 80 bar, besonders bevorzugt 40 bis 60 bar, durchgeführt.
Die AusgangsVerbindungen Olefin, Wasser und das Katalysatorsystem können vor der Umsetzung gegebenenfalls in einem Lösungsmittel in einem Reaktor vermischt werden. Sie können dann auf die
Reaktionstemperatur erhitzt werden, wobei der Reaktionsdruck durch Aufpressen von Kohlenmonoxid oder bei Verwendung kurz - kettiger Olefine durch Aufpressen eines Gemisches aus diesem Olefin und Kohlenmonoxid eingestellt wird.
In der Regel ist die Umsetzung nach 0,5 bis 3 h beendet. Sie kann kontinuierlich oder diskontinuierlich in Reaktoren wie Kesseln, Blasensäulen, Rohrreaktoren oder Umlaufreaktoren ausgeführt werden.
Zur Isolierung der Verfahrensprodukte wird der Reaktionsaustrag in einer bevorzugten Ausführungsform entspannt. Sodann wird Nickelcarbonyl durch Durchleiten von Gasen wie Luft oder Stickstoff aus der Flüssigkeit ausgetragen. Nickelcarbonyl kann vom Inertgas abgetrennt und zu einer Nickelverbindung aufgearbeitet werden, welche dann in die Reaktion zurückgeführt werden kann. Die Flüssigphase des Reaktionsaustrags, die neben dem Verfahrens - produkt löslichen oder suspendierten Katalysator enthält, wird destillativ aufgearbeitet, wobei das Verfahrensprodukt, gegebe- nenfalls nach einer anschließenden Feindestillation, isoliert wird. Der katalysatorhaltige Destillationssumpf wird in die Reaktion zurückgeführt. Ebenso können gegebenenfalls vor der Destillation abgetrennte Katalysatorbestandteile sowie als Leichtsieder oder als Seitenstrom einer Destillation abgetrennte flüchtige Katalysatorbestandteile nach entsprechender Aufarbeitung zurückgeführt werden.
Das erfindungsgemäße Verfahren erlaubt die Herstellung der Verfahrensprodukte in hoher Raum-Zeit -Ausbeute mit hoher Selektivität.
Beispiele
Beispiel 1: Diskontinuierliche Versuche zur Herstellung von Propionsäure
In einem 300 ml -Autoklaven mit Magnetrührstab wurde eine Lösung aus 2,13 g basischem Nickelcarbonat und 12 mg Rutheniumacetyl- acetonat in einem Gemisch aus 90 g Propionsäure und 10 g Wasser vorgelegt. Anschließend wurden 20 g einer 40%igen wässrigen Te- trabutylammoniumhydroxid-Lösung ([NBu ]OH) zugefügt. Danach wurde mit einem Gasgemisch aus 50 Vol.-% CO und 50 Vol.-% Ethylen ein Vordruck von 30 bar eingestellt und die Reaktionslösung auf 200°C erwärmt. Nach Erreichen der Reaktionstemperatur wurde der End- druck von 60 bar eingestellt und durch viertelstündliches Nachpressen des CO/Ethen-Gasgemischs gehalten. Nach einer Stunde wurde auf Raumtemperatur abgekühlt, entspannt und der Reaktionsaustrag titrimetrisch und gasanalytisch untersucht. Das Ergebnis ist in Tabelle 1 zusammengefaßt.
Beispiel 2
Der Versuch wurde wie in Beispiel 1 beschrieben durchgeführt. Anstelle von Tetrabutylammoniumhydroxid wurden jedoch 10 g Tri- ethylamin (NEt3) eingesetzt. Das Ergebnis ist Tabelle 1 zu entnehmen.
Beispiel A
Der Versuch wurde wie in Beispiel 1 beschrieben, jedoch ohne
Zusatz einer StickstoffVerbindung durchgeführt. Das Ergebnis ist in Tabelle 1 zusammengefaßt.
Beispiel B
Der Versuch wurde wie in Beispiel 1 beschrieben, jedoch ohne Rutheniumkatalysator durchgeführt. Das Ergebnis ist in Tabelle 1 zusammengefaßt .
Beispiel C
Der Versuch wurde wie in Beispiel 1 beschrieben, jedoch ohne Nickelkatalysator durchgeführt. Das Ergebnis ist in Tabelle 1 zusammengefaßt .

In den erfindungsgemäßen Beispielen 1 und 2 konnten mit einem Katalysator aus Nickel, Ruthenium und Tetrabutylammoniumhydroxid bzw. Triethylamin bei 60 bar deutlich höhere Raum- Zeit -Ausbeuten und Selektivitäten erzielt werden als im Vergleichsversuch A mit den beiden metallischen Katalysatorkomponenten allein. Die Vergleichsbeispiele B und C verdeutlichen, daß durch Zusatz von Tetrabutylammoniumhydroxid zu einem der beiden Katalysatormetalle kein aktives Katalysatorsystem resultiert. Die Versuche 1, 2, A und C zeigen, daß die zugesetzten Stickstoffkomponenten vor allem die Carbonylierungsreaktion beschleunigen, jedoch weit weniger die Bildung der Nebenprodukte Ethan, Propionaldehyd und Diethyl- keton.
Beispiel 3
In einem 300 ml -Autoklaven ausgestattet mit Begasungsrührer (1000 UpM) wurde eine Lösung aus 2,13 g basischem Nickelcarbonat und 12 mg Rutheniumacetylacetonat in einem Gemisch aus 60 g Propionsäure und 40 g einer 40%igen wässrigen Tetrabutylammoniumhydroxid-Lösung vorgelegt. Danach wurde mit einem Gasgemisch aus 50 Vol.-% CO und 50 Vol.-% Ethylen ein Vordruck von 30 bar eingestellt und die Reaktionslösung auf 200°C erwärmt. Nach Erreichen der Reaktionstemperatur wurde der Enddruck von 75 bar eingestellt und durch kontinuierliches Nachpressen des CO/Ethen-Gasgemischs konstant gehalten. Nach zwei Stunden wurde auf Raumtemperatur abgekühlt, entspannt und der Reaktionsaustrag titrimetrisch und gasanalytisch untersucht. Das Ergebnis ist in Tabelle 2 zusammengefaßt.
Beispiel D
In dem im Beispiel 3 beschriebenen Autoklaven wurde eine Lösung aus 2,13 g basischem Nickelcarbonat und 12 mg Rutheniumacetyl- acetonat in einem Gemisch aus 60 g Propionsäure und 40 g Wasser vorgelegt. Danach wurde mit einem Gasgemisch aus 50 Vol.-% CO und 50 Vol.-% Ethylen ein Vordruck von 30 bar eingestellt und die Reaktionslösung auf 200°C erwärmt. Nach Erreichen der Reaktionstemperatur wurde der Enddruck von 75 bar eingestellt und durch kon- tinuierliches Nachpressen des CO/Ethen-Gasgemischs konstant gehalten. Nach zwei Stunden wurde auf Raumtemperatur abgekühlt, entspannt und der Reaktionsaustrag titrimetrisch und gasanalytisch untersucht. Das Ergebnis ist in Tabelle 2 zusammengefaßt.
Beispiel 4
Der Versuch wurde wie in Beispiel 3 beschrieben, jedoch bei einem Druck von 55 bar durchgeführt. Das Ergebnis ist in Tabelle 2 zusammengefaßt.
Beispiel 5
Der Versuch wurde wie in Beispiel 3 beschrieben, jedoch mit 60 g Propionsäure, 25 g einer 40%igen wassrigen Tetrabylammoniumhydro - xid- ösung und 15 g Wasser als Lösungsmittel und einem Druck von 55 bar durchgeführt. Das Ergebnis ist in Tabelle 2 zusammengefaßt .
Beispiel E
Der Versuch wurde wie in Beispiel D beschrieben, jedoch bei einem Druck von 55 bar durchgeführt. Das Ergebnis ist in Tabelle 2 zusammengefaßt .

Beispiel 6
In einem 300 ml -Autoklaven mit Magnetrührstab wurde eine Lösung 5 aus 2,13 g basischem Nickelcarbonat und 12 mg Rutheniumacetyl- acetonat in einem Gemisch aus 80 g Propionsäure und 20 g einer 40%igen wassrigen Tetrabutylammoniumhydroxid-Lösung vorgelegt ( [H20] =12 g) . Danach wurde mit einem Gasgemisch aus 50 Vol.-% CO und 50 Vol.-% Ethylen ein Vordruck von 30 bar eingestellt und die
10 Reaktionslösung auf 200°C erwärmt. Nach Erreichen der Reaktions- temperatur wurde der Enddruck von 100 bar eingestellt und durch halbstündiges Nachpressen des CO/Ethen-Gasgemischs gehalten. Nach zwei Stunden wurde auf Raumtemperatur abgekühlt und entspannt. Es wurden 126 g flüssiger Reaktionsaustrag erhalten. Die gas-
15 chromatographische und titrimetrische Analyse ergab die folgende in Tabelle 3 zusammengefaßte Zusammensetzung.
Beispiel 7
20 In einem 300 ml -Autoklaven mit MagnetrührStab wurde eine Lösung aus 2,13 g basischem Nickelcarbonat und 12 mg Rutheniumacetyl- acetonat in einem Gemisch aus 90 g Propionsäure und 10 g Wasser und 10 g Triethylamin vorgelegt. Danach wurde mit einem Gasgemisch aus 50 Vol.-% CO und 50 Vol.-% Ethylen ein Vordruck von
25 30 bar eingestellt und die Reaktionslösung auf 200°C erwärmt. Nach Erreichen der Reaktionstemperatur wurde der Enddruck von 100 bar eingestellt und durch halbstündiges Nachpressen des CO/Ethen -Gasgemischs gehalten. Nach zwei Stunden wurde auf Raumtemperatur abgekühlt und entspannt. Es wurden 134 g flüssiger Reaktionaustrag
30 erhalten. Die gaschromatographische und titrimetrische Analyse ergaben folgende in Tabelle 3 zusammengefaßte Zusammensetzung.

Die Beispiele 6 und 7 verdeutlichen, daß das Katalysatorsystem bestehend aus einer Nickelverbindung, einer Rutheniumverbindung und einer stickstoffhaltigen Verbindung wie Triethylamin oder Tetrabutylammoniumhydroxid auch bei sehr niedriger Wasser - konzentration eine hohe Aktivität besitzt.
Claims
Verfahren zur Herstellung von Carbonsäuren oder deren Estern aus Olefinen und Kohlenmonoxid in Gegenwart von Wasser oder Alkoholen bei Temperaturen von 100 bis 270°C und Drücken von 30 bis 100 bar dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß man als halogenfreies Katalysatorsystem eine Mischung aus
a) Nickel oder einer NickelVerbindung,
b) mindestens einem der Metalle der Gruppe Chrom, Molybdän, Wolfram, Rhenium, Ruthenium, Osmium, Rhodium, Iridium Palladium, Platin, Silber, Gold oder einer Verbindung dieser Metalle und
c) mindestens einer nichtmetallischen Verbindung aus der Gruppe der tertiären oder quartären Stickstoff-, Phosphor- oder Arsenverbindungen und der stickstoffhaltigen heterocyclischen Verbindungen, einsetzt.
Verfahren zur Herstellung von Carbonsäuren oder deren Estern nach Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß die Komponenten des Katalysatorsystems in einem Molverhältnis von a) :b) :c) von 1:1:0,5 bis 100 000:1:200 000 vorliegen.
Verfahren zur Herstellung von Carbonsäuren oder deren Estern nach den Ansprüchen 1 oder 2, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß das Katalysatorsystem eine quartäre Verbindung der allgemeinen Formel (I)
worin E Stickstoff, Phosphor oder Arsen bedeutet, R1, R2, R3, R4 einen aliphatischen, cycloaliphatischen, araliphatischen oder aromatischen Rest und X" ein halogenfreies Anion darstellen, enthält.
4. Verfahren zur Herstellung von Carbonsäuren oder deren Estern nach den Ansprüchen 1 bis 3, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß das Katalysatorsystem eine tertiäre Verbindung der allgemeinen Formel (II)

worin E Stickstoff, Phosphor oder Arsen bedeutet und R1, R2 und R3 einen aliphatischen, cycloaliphatischen, araliphatischen oder aromatischen Rest darstellen, enthält.
5. Verfahren zur Herstellung von Carbonsäuren oder deren Estern nach den Ansprüchen 1 oder 2, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß der Gehalt der Reaktionslösung an der nichtmetallischen Verbindung c) 1 bis 50 Gew.-% beträgt.
6. Verfahren zur Herstellung von Carbonsäuren oder deren Estern nach den Ansprüchen 1 bis 5, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß die Reaktionslösung pro Mol Olefin 0,5 - 10 mol Wasser enthält.
7. Verfahren zur Herstellung von Carbonsäuren oder deren Estern nach den Ansprüchen 1 bis 6, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß man die Umsetzung bei Temperaturen von 170 bis 250°C und Drücken von 40 bis 60 bar durchführt.
8. Verfahren zur Herstellung von Carbonsäuren oder deren Estern nach den Ansprüchen 1 bis 7, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß man Kohlenmonoxid und das Olefin im Molverhältnis 5:1 bis 1:5 einsetzt.
9. Verfahren zur Herstellung von Carbonsäuren oder deren Estern nach den Ansprüchen 1 bis 7, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß man als Olefin Ethylen einsetzt.
10. Halogenfreies Katalysatorsystem wie in mindestens einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 4 definiert, geeignet zur Durchführung von Verfahren zur Herstellung von Carbonsäuren oder deren Estern wie in mindestens einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 9 definiert.
11. Verwendung eines Katalysatorsystems, wie in mindestens einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 4 definiert, zur Herstellung von Carbon - säuren oder deren Estern aus Olefinen und Kohlenmonoxid in Gegenwart von Wasser oder Alkoholen.
