Definitions
- the present invention relates generally to projectors of the type elliptical for motor vehicle.
- a projector of this type conventionally comprises a source luminous, an elliptical reflector of which a first focus is located at the near the source, a converging lens whose focal plane passes through neighborhood of a second focus of the reflector, and a lens for closing the projector.
- the lens may be formed by the lens itself.
- Such a headlamp When such a headlamp is to generate a cut-off beam, such as a passing beam or anti-fog beam, it includes a cover interposed between the light source and the lens, which obscures the part of the radiation that would otherwise spread over this cut.
- a cut-off beam such as a passing beam or anti-fog beam
- a solution known in itself, then consists in tilting the mobile cover of the projector to selectively position it in or out of the light beam issued.
- an elliptical projector of the type comprising a cover toggling between a code position and a road position, around an axis generally horizontal and parallel to the optical axis.
- the cover is pivotally mounted on a frame part of the projector, at one of its lateral sides, and the pivoting movement of the cover takes place so that it always remains in the vertical plane transverse to the axis optics where it is in the code position.
- the light beam emitted has a reduced light intensity due to the fact that part of the cover located on the side of the axis of rotation of the latter, always remains on the path of the rays light emitted.
- tilting cover arrangement requires the use of a bulky and powerful actuation means to ensure with the desired speed the return of the cover from the road position to the code position.
- the present invention provides a new elliptical type projector in which the movable cover arrangement allows in a position to completely clear the light beam cover issued, and in which the size of the cache actuation system for its positioning from a first position to a second position and its return to the first position, is optimized.
- a projector for motor vehicle, comprising a light source, a reflector of the type elliptical with a first focus located near the source, a lens convergent with a focal plane passing in the vicinity of a second focus of the reflector, a movable cover provided between the reflector and the lens, which has an edge defining a particular cutoff profile for the emitted light beam, and means for actuating the cover to selectively bring it into two positions, a first position in which said edge of the cover is positioned on the path light rays to form a first light beam with said profile cut, and a second position in which said edge of the cover is substantially positioned outside the path of the light rays to form a second light bleam.
- said actuating means comprise a operating means connected to the cover and able to be driven to tilt said cover from the first position to the second position, and provided with a spring reminder that participates in positioning the cover in the first position when said operating means is released, and in that the cover is shaped so that its center of gravity is determinedly positioned relative to the pivot axis of the cover so that said cover tends intrinsically to be placed in the first position.
- the cover has a blade secured to a counterweight.
- the pivot axis of the cover is generally horizontal and transverse to the optical axis of the projector.
- the cache passes from the first position to the second position by a rotation of an appropriate angle (here close to 80 °). In the second position it extends in a horizontal plane containing the optical axis, and does not obscure any part of the light beam emitted by the source light from the projector.
- the conformation of the cover is such that it assists the spring of reminder to return the cover to the first position and therefore the spring reminder used in the projector according to the invention is smaller.
- the cover has a center of gravity located, in the first position, below its pivot axis.
- the blade constituting the cover is secured to a shaft likely to rotate in two bearings formed in a frame part of the projector secured to the reflector.
- the cover is supported on each of its lateral sides which allows obtain a good balance of the cache.
- the blade and the counterweight form one piece.
- the operating means comprises an actuating rod, one end of which is linked to the cover and another end of which is connected to an electromagnet provided with a return spring, said electromagnet being intended to be supplied with current for actuate said rod so that it causes the pivoting of the cover of the first position to the second position, and keep it there second position.
- the rod makes it possible to maneuver the cover to position it in the second position, under the action of the return spring it allows, together with the action of the counterweight, to stabilize the cover in its first position and prevent it from vibrating when the motor vehicle is moving.
- the first position is a code position and the second position is a road position.
- a headlamp for a motor vehicle which comprises a lamp 10 mounted in the bottom of a reflector 20 of the elliptical type, so that the filament 11 of the lamp 10 is located in the vicinity of the first focus F1 of said reflector 20.
- the projector also comprises a converging lens 70 mounted on a frame portion 40 of the projector secured to the reflector.
- the focal plane of the converging lens 70 passes in the vicinity of the second focus F2 of the reflector 20.
- the projector has a movable cover 50 provided between the reflector 20 and lens 70.
- the assembly is mounted, not shown, in a housing closed by an ice cream.
- the cover 50 positioned near the focal plane of the lens 70 has an edge 51 able to define in the focal plane of said lens, a cut profile particular for the light beam emitted.
- the cover 50 is in the form of a blade and is mounted at pivot around a generally horizontal and transverse pivot axis X to the optical axis O of the projector.
- the pivoting mounting of the cover 50 on the part frame 30 of the projector is produced by means of a shaft 54 introduced into the through said cover in holes 53 provided for this purpose and mounted in two bearings 31, 32 of the frame part 30 of the headlight so that it is free to toumer in these landings.
- the first position is a code position and the second position is a road position.
- the first and second positions correspond to two positions of the cover for the formation of a beam with different cut-off.
- the first position corresponds to the formation of a beam with cut-off different from the code beam and that the second position is the road position.
- the cover is in the form of a blade which has a thickness such that when it is positioned horizontally in the road position, it practically does not obscure the light beam emitted by the light source and reflected by the reflector.
- the actuation means of the cover 50 comprise a means of maneuver comprising an actuating rod 61 one end of which is linked to the cover 50 by being inserted into a housing 55 provided on a lateral side of the cover 50.
- the other end of the rod 61 is connected to an electromagnet 60 capable of actuate said rod 61 by pushing or pulling it so that it drives the pivoting of the cover 50 between the first code position and the second position road.
- the electromagnet 60 comprises a housing in which are positioned a coil (in the bottom of the case) and a core, so classic.
- the core is movable in translation inside the case and connected to the end of the actuating rod 61.
- the core could be a very part of the rod 61.
- the core is stressed by a return spring compressed between said wall internal of the electromagnet housing and an appropriate shoulder of the core. This return spring tends to return the core to a rest position backward (i.e. to the right in Figure 2 and upward in Figure 4).
- the coil of the electromagnet When the coil of the electromagnet is supplied with current, it moves the core so that it drives the actuating rod 61 forward, while by compressing the return spring against the inner wall of the housing.
- the movement exerted on the rod 61 causes the latter to cause the cover 50 to tip over from its first vertical position code towards its second horizontal road position and maintains it in this last position.
- the return spring returns the actuating rod to its initial position, and the cover 50 switches in the opposite direction to return to its first vertical code position.
- the blade constituting the cover 50 is extends below the axis of rotation X of the cover and is integral with a counterweight 52.
- this counterweight is mounted on the blade or is formed in one piece with said blade.
- the counterweight 52 means that, in the first position of the cover, the center of gravity of the blade is moved below its axis of rotation and so naturally the cover tends to be placed in the first code position vertical with its counterweight positioned downwards.
- the framework piece 30 includes an upright 33 which rises vertically along the counterweight 52 on the front side thereof when the cover is in the first code position.
- the upper end of this upright forms a stable stop for the cover in its second road position, as illustrated.
- the size of the blade 50 below the axis of rotation is minimal and the counterweight, space saving requires no additional space compared to the space initially provided in the housing of a conventional projector.
- the behavior of the device is as follows: when the electromagnet is not no longer supplied with current, the cover returns to the vertical code position, this under the combined action of the counterweight 52 and the return spring of the electromagnet.
- the return spring therefore does not need to exert a very strong return force. important on the rod to cause the cover to return from the second position route to its first code position with the desired speed, since it is assisted by the force of gravity exerted by the counterweight 52. We can therefore choose a spring less bulky and less costly reminder.
- the counterweight and the return spring both contribute to keep the cover in a stable position when the electromagnet is not supplied with current, in particular to prevent the cover vibrating when the vehicle automobile drives.
- these lateral tabs 56 are offset relative to the plane of the blade 50 by a distance equal to the thickness of the frame piece, so that, in the code position, said blade 50 comes precisely in the plane of the part 30.
- the plate 33 forming a stop for the road position of the cover can be omitted, in which case it is the end stop of the electromagnet core in its housing which defines the stop position in road position (including at this respect is not decisive).
