Definitions

  • the invention relates to a high pressure sodium lamp with a burner made of polycrystalline aluminum oxide (PCA), a filling of sodium and Mercury and xenon as filling gas.
  • PCA polycrystalline aluminum oxide
  • High pressure sodium lamps of this type are for their high luminous efficacy known in the range of the visible spectrum. This is due to the fact that the light emission of these lamps takes place in a spectral range that the Maximum corresponds to the eye sensitivity curve. Most commercial available high pressure sodium vapor (HPS) lamps are therefore related a maximum luminous flux optimized.
  • HPS lamps have a long lifespan and a very long life low luminous flux drop.
  • HPS lamps also particularly suitable for use in promoting plant growth, despite the fact that their spectrum is optimized for the human eye and not to favor or strengthen the Plant growth process.
  • EP 0 364 014 the blue part of the To optimize the spectrum of an HPS lamp. It is known that this is important is to prevent plants from being spindly and with small leaves to grow. Now, however, there is already one in greenhouses there is sufficient amount of blue light from the sun itself when it's cloudy in winter.
  • the object underlying the invention is seen in a High pressure sodium lamp of the type mentioned to create the is optimized with regard to the efficiency of photosynthesis in plants, with Exchangeable lamps, as well as with existing ballast and Ignitors and lights is compatible and finally in A profit compared to a conventional HPS lamp provides photosynthetic effect.
  • the xenon pressure be brought to a value as high as possible and yet it allows the lamp, of those for the corresponding one Lamp type specified igniters to be ignited properly. In the In practice, these are usually superimposed ignitors, which are dependent have the minimum peak voltage specified by the lamp power.
  • the discharge length of the lamp according to the invention should not deviate from the discharge length of the conventional HPS lamp of the same power by more than 25%. If you follow this, the optical compatibility with existing lights is ensured.
  • the wall load (lamp power divided by the wall surface of the burner between the electrodes) is optimized with conventional HPS lamps. With higher loads, the radiated power increases, but to ensure a long service life, the wall load must be kept below a certain value. This value usually corresponds to a maximum burner temperature of 1200 ° C and is between 15 and 25 W / cm 2 depending on the nominal lamp power. In the lamp according to the present invention, the wall load may deviate by a maximum of 10% from the value of the corresponding conventional HPS lamp.
  • the intended increase in photosynthesis efficiency is then achieved by optimizing the composition of the Na / Hg amalgam and the dome spacing of the two wings of the Na-D line of the radiation spectrum from approximately 13 nm (130 ⁇ ) to approximately 20 nm (200 ⁇ ). realized. These variables are selected to optimize the photosynthetic efficiency of the lamp.
  • K 1088.4 Phyto-lm ⁇ W -1 V PS is the spectral active function given in FIG. 1 for photosynthesis in plants and P ⁇ is the lamp spectrum.
  • the comparison is made with the lamp efficiency.
  • the luminous efficacy (in lumens per watt) is different Sodium weights as a function of the dome spacing of the two wings of the Na-D line applied.
  • a maximum can be seen for each Na component the luminous efficacy, but this is less dependent on the Na content shows as the photosynthesis efficiency.
  • the measurement results are in Table 1 below and in FIG. 4 summarized.
  • the table contains the numerical values of the Photosynthesis efficiency and the luminous efficacy depending on Na weight fraction in the amalgam. In Fig. 4 these values are graphical dargesellt.
  • the desired tip distance of the Na-D line can be achieved in practice by increasing the cold spot temperature of the burner, either by changing the distance of the electrode tip from the end face of the burner or by attaching heat accumulation strips on the outside of the two burner ends. If the burner dimensions remain unchanged, this increases the lamp voltage. Make sure that the lamp voltage is low enough to ensure a sufficient lamp life. If the lamp lamp voltage value is too high, a correction to the desired value can be achieved even with a constant dome distance between the two wings of the Na-D line by reducing the length of the discharge arc and increasing the burner diameter in such a way that the wall load of the burner remains constant per square centimeter. It is important to ensure that, as mentioned, the arc length is not changed by more than 25%.
  • Luminous efficacy (1m / W) 12 110-160 80-100 14 120-170 85-105 16 130-180 90-110 18 140-190 90-110 20 150-200 95-115
  • the amalgam composition was 16 percent by weight sodium.
  • the cold xenon pressure in the burner was 308 torr.
  • the cold spot temperature was determined by adjusting the distance between the electrode tip and the Torch face set to 17.0 mm at 120 V.
  • Table 2 below compares the measured characteristics of this lamp with those of a conventional HPS lamp with increased filling pressure.
  • conventional means a commercially available high pressure Na lamp for general lighting applications. Such a lamp corresponds to the SYLVANIA type SHP-TS 400W.
  • Comparison of lamp example according to the invention - conventional HPS lamp with increased filling pressure lamp example Conventional high pressure sodium lamp Dome distance ( ⁇ ) 130 109 Burning voltage (V) 120 98 Lamp power (W) 424 392 Luminous flux (lm) 58028 53473 Phytolumen (Im) 128729 115648 PAR ( ⁇ mol / s) 715 644 Blue (W) 11.4 9.6 Prot (W) 17.3 14.5
  • the lamp according to the invention described above as an example was in the Practice tested.
  • Four different types of cucumber were combined in one irradiated with daylight sealed room with lamps and who corresponded to the example given above.
  • the The radiation duration was sixteen hours a day and the duration of the Growing a month.
  • the same Cucumber plant varieties under the same conditions when irradiated that came from conventional HPS lamps like the ones above have already been mentioned, namely of the type SYLVANIA SHP-TS 400W.
  • the larger light output of the lamps according to the invention was achieved by Increase the distance between the lamps and the plants compensated for the level of plant growth or on the substrate to get the same photosynthetically effective radiation intensity as in Case of conventional lamps.
