Definitions
- the invention relates to compositions comprising a cyclodextrin, a carboxylic acid and a contain cationic surfactant. It further relates to the use of such compositions for the treatment of fiber materials, in particular of textile fabrics.
- the present invention has for its object to provide compositions for the Treatment of fiber materials, in particular of non-ready-made textile Fabrics that provide the benefits of cyclodextrins Retain formulations while giving a very soft feel.
- compositions according to the invention are preferably carried out so that the compositions in the form of aqueous dispersions of these Compositions are used.
- the dispersions can be applied to the fiber materials by known methods be, e.g. by means of a padding process.
- the used in the padding Liquor to a level customary in textile finishing and to the desired pH set.
- the compositions according to the invention, their aqueous dispersions and the fleets used for padding can, in addition to the above-mentioned components A, B and C, other products included.
- Such other products may be in textile equipment commonly used ingredients such as flame retardants, polyolefins next to it Silicones and fluoropolymers for oil and / or water repellent equipment.
- compositions of the invention or their aqueous dispersions in addition known cellulose crosslinkers such as e.g. Dimethyloldihydroxiethylenurea included.
- cellulose crosslinkers such as e.g. Dimethyloldihydroxiethylenurea included.
- compositions according to the invention for textile treatment retain the known benefits of cyclodextrins. This includes on the one hand the possibility Body sweat or volatile or gaseous products absorb and thus Reduce odor nuisance. Furthermore, cyclodextrins can be known to do so serve to store active ingredients such as perfumes in their cavities and controlled in small quantities Release cans again. In this way it is possible to give textiles a pleasant smell to rent.
- the perfume is combined by known methods with cyclodextrin.
- inventive Compositions a very pleasant soft touch and a controllable level Achieve hydrophilicity.
- Aqueous dispersions of compositions according to the invention can also be used advantageously in exhaust for textile treatment.
- the hydrophilicity of Textiles can be controlled via the relative amounts of components A, B and C, or over Addition of non-ionic dispersants, which is described below.
- compositions according to the invention can achieve a distinct, synergistic effect on the softness of textiles treated therewith.
- the handle to be achieved with compositions of the invention is softer than the handle associated with each of components A, B and C alone results.
- the pronounced hydrophilic properties imparted to the fiber materials in a known manner by cyclodextrins are not or only to an acceptable extent worsened by the addition of longer chain fatty acids. With compositions according to the invention, therefore, the fiber materials can be given distinctively hydrophilic properties and a very soft feel.

Description
The invention relates to compositions comprising a cyclodextrin, a carboxylic acid and a contain cationic surfactant. It further relates to the use of such compositions for the treatment of fiber materials, in particular of textile fabrics.
DE-A 4 035 378 beschrieben.
Die US 5 234 611 beschreibt Gewebeweichmachungsmittel, welche in Polymeren
eingeschlossene, verkapselte Cyclodextrine enthalten. Sie dienen zur Anwendung in
Haushaltswäschen. It is known to treat textiles with products containing sugar derivatives to give the textiles soft feel. This is evident, for example, from EP 792 337 B1 . The treatment of textile materials with cyclodextrins is also known and described in DE-A 4 035 378 . The treatment of textile fabrics with cyclodextrins has the advantage that, because of the known properties of the cyclodextrins, the treated textiles absorb perspiration and can thus reduce unpleasant odors. It is also stated in the said DE document that the use of cyclodextrins can take place in combination with the use of cellulose crosslinkers and thus a permanent fixation of the equipment on the textiles can be achieved.
US 5,234,611 discloses fabric softening compositions containing encapsulated cyclodextrins encased in polymers. They are for use in household laundry.
Despite the known advantages of cyclodextrins, those of the prior art cyclodextrins known formulations the disadvantage that the handle treated with it Textiles do not have optimal softness. This is especially true if the Prior art formulations in the textile finishing / finishing process to non-ready made textile fabrics are applied.
The present invention has for its object to provide compositions for the Treatment of fiber materials, in particular of non-ready-made textile Fabrics that provide the benefits of cyclodextrins Retain formulations while giving a very soft feel.
The treatment of textile fabrics with compositions according to the invention is preferably carried out so that the compositions in the form of aqueous dispersions of these Compositions are used.
The dispersions can be applied to the fiber materials by known methods be, e.g. by means of a padding process. For this purpose, the used in the padding Liquor to a level customary in textile finishing and to the desired pH set. The compositions according to the invention, their aqueous dispersions and the fleets used for padding can, in addition to the above-mentioned components A, B and C, other products included. Such other products may be in textile equipment commonly used ingredients such as flame retardants, polyolefins next to it Silicones and fluoropolymers for oil and / or water repellent equipment. In particular can compositions of the invention or their aqueous dispersions in addition known cellulose crosslinkers such as e.g. Dimethyloldihydroxiethylenurea included. Thereby can be after appropriate, known thermal treatment of the fiber materials a To increase the permanence of the effects achieved with inventive To achieve compositions on cellulose textiles.
When using compositions according to the invention for textile treatment retain the known benefits of cyclodextrins. For this purpose, the perfume is combined by known methods with cyclodextrin. In addition to the advantages caused by cyclodextrin can be achieved by inventive Compositions a very pleasant soft touch and a controllable level Achieve hydrophilicity. Aqueous dispersions of compositions according to the invention can also be used advantageously in exhaust for textile treatment. The hydrophilicity of Textiles can be controlled via the relative amounts of components A, B and C, or over Addition of non-ionic dispersants, which is described below.
Surprisingly, it has been found that compositions according to the invention can achieve a distinct, synergistic effect on the softness of textiles treated therewith. The handle to be achieved with compositions of the invention is softer than the handle associated with each of components A, B and C alone results. Besides, in many cases it is difficult to prepare stable aqueous dispersions containing only a component A and a component C, but not a component B.
Further, it was surprising that the pronounced hydrophilic properties imparted to the fiber materials in a known manner by cyclodextrins are not or only to an acceptable extent worsened by the addition of longer chain fatty acids. With compositions according to the invention, therefore, the fiber materials can be given distinctively hydrophilic properties and a very soft feel.
Compositions of the invention contain at least the three following in more detail Components A, B and C described above may be added Contain ingredients.
Component A is an unsubstituted cyclodextrin or a mixture of such cyclodextrins. Cyclodextrins are understood to mean cyclically closed oligosaccharides which consist of 6, 7 or 8 α-1,4-glycosidically linked D-glucopyranose units, as defined in HR Christen et al, "Organic Chemistry, From the Foundations to Research" , Volume II, page 549, 1st edition 1990, Otto-Salle-Verlag, Frankfurt / M. In this case, α-cyclodextrin, β-cyclodextrin or y-cyclodextrin mean the compounds with 6, 7 or 8 units. Cyclodextrins are formed by the degradation of starch by bacteria. Particularly preferred compositions according to the invention contain at least β-cyclodextrin. In addition, they may additionally contain α- and / or γ-cyclodextrin.
Cyclodextrins are commercial products, e.g. available from Wacker Chemie, Germany.
Component B is an aliphatic carboxylic acid having 8 to 24 carbon atoms or a Mixture of such carboxylic acids. Can be used linear or branched, saturated or unsaturated acids such as e.g. Oleic acid. Furthermore, component B can be monovalent or contain polybasic carboxylic acids. Preferred as component B are saturated, unbranched, monovalent carboxylic acids (monocarboxylic acids) such as e.g. Stearic acid or Behenic acid. Normally, component B consists of a mixture for cost reasons technical carboxylic acids with a usual chain length distribution.
Verbindungen in Frage.
Component C is a cationic surfactant or a mixture of cationic surfactants. Suitable cationic surfactants are the surface-active compounds known from the specialist literature. Well suited for compositions according to the invention are ammonium salts of inorganic or short-chain organic acids. The cation of these salts may contain a quaternized nitrogen atom, however, up to 3 hydrogen atoms may also be attached to the nitrogen atom.
Preferred compositions according to the invention are characterized in that component C contains a surfactant of the general formula (I). in which
in which
and wherein X Θ is a monovalent anion of an inorganic or organic acid.
in folgenden Mengenverhältnissen relativ zueinander:
Textilien gezielt beeinflussen. If component A, B or C consist of mixtures, then these amounts refer in each case to the sum of all ingredients of these mixtures.
By varying these proportions, the handle and hydrophilicity of finished textiles can be selectively influenced.
For certain applications, it may be advantageous if compositions according to the invention or aqueous dispersions of these compositions additionally contain a nonionic surfactant or a mixture of such surfactants. Particularly suitable nonionic surfactants are ethoxylated carboxylic acids and ethoxylated alcohols. Also, silicones having polyoxyethylene groups or amino groups in side chains can be used, either alone or in combination with the above-mentioned nonionic surfactants. By adding these nonionic dispersants, the hydrophilic properties of the textiles can be further increased.
In particular, when textile compositions according to the invention are to be treated which entirely or to a substantial extent consist of cellulose fibers, it is often advantageous if a cellulose crosslinker is also used. Suitable for this purpose are known from the literature N-methylol compounds, but also so-called "formaldehyde-free" or "low-formaldehyde" crosslinkers. Suitable cellulose crosslinkers are available from Ciba Spezialitätenchemie Pfersee GmbH, for example products of the KNITTEX® series. The cellulose crosslinker, if appropriate together with crosslinking catalyst, is normally added to the aqueous dispersions or finishing liquors which comprise compositions according to the invention. After application of such dispersions on fiber materials and drying, a conventional thermal treatment, for example at 160 ° C followed to effect crosslinking with the cellulosic material. After this treatment, increased permanence of the effects achieved with compositions according to the invention results.
Compositions according to the invention are preferably in the form of aqueous dispersions, which consist of 10 to 40% by weight of these compositions. The rest exists either only water or water and other ingredients, e.g. the above Such aqueous dispersions can be prepared by generally known methods be prepared, e.g. Presentation of water, adding the individual components of a Composition according to the invention in any order and under homogenization mechanical movement at a temperature of 40 ° to 100 ° C. Alternatively, a preformed composition according to the invention without the use of water and these Composition are stirred in water.
Particularly suitable are compositions according to the invention in the form of aqueous dispersions containing the compositions for the treatment of non-ready-made textile fabrics in the form of woven or knitted fabrics. This treatment therefore preferably takes place in the operation of the Textilausrüsters and not on the ready-made items in the household.
The fiber materials, which are preferably present as non-ready-made woven or knitted fabrics, can be further processed into articles of clothing. They may consist of natural fibers such as wool or cotton, of regenerated fibers such as viscose or synthetic fibers such as polyamide or polyester or mixtures of these types of fibers.
