- Hot stamping processes and devices of this type become Hot stamping of material layers to be stamped on one Embossed foil web used for the embossed material.
- material layer referred to as printing material which is Sheet material or sheet material can usually trade with one uniform material layer speed through an embossing gap is moved and the embossing film web is moved in such a way that an embossing film web section same speed during an embossing interval moved with the material layer through the embossing gap.
- the mint which is discrete, side-by-side or embossing units arranged one behind the other, such as pictures, texts or the like or to be stamped parts or areas of Layers of color can act undistorted or not smeared towards the impressing material layer and thus the embossing film does not tear during the embossing interval.
- stamping foils one strives for Minimize waste on the often expensive Stamping foil material, the area share of unused or embossed To keep film web areas as small as possible. This is already have been proposed, one behind the other, to be shaped Bring the areas of embossed goods closer together on the embossing foil web as consecutive stamping locations on the material layer.
- the speed changes required for this Stamping foil web can be effected by foil accelerating agents be, with a film acceleration both a Speed increase, as well as a speed reduction, as well as a reversal of the direction of the movement of the embossing foil web can.
- a hot stamping rotary machine that has a stamping interval before Feed rate increase and after an embossing interval Feed speed deceleration of the stamping foil is in the DE 29 31 194 shown.
- the embossing foil web is always in Main direction of movement of the embossing film web moves, the Speed varies in this direction and never gets bigger than that Material layer speed.
- the invention is based, hot stamping method or To further form hot stamping devices of the type mentioned at the outset, that a particularly effective use of on the stamping foil web This embossing is possible.
- the invention proposes a hot stamping method with the features of claim 1 and a hot stamping device particularly suitable for carrying out this method with the features of claim 7.
- Preferred developments are specified in the dependent claims. The wording of all claims is incorporated by reference into the content of the description.
- An inventive hot stamping method of the type mentioned draws is characterized in that at least once during a Embossing run during a first embossing interval on a first Embossing location of a material layer is a first embossing area of the Embossing foil web is embossed that during an immediate subsequent second embossing interval at a second embossing location Material layer in the first embossing area in the web direction subsequent second embossed area of the embossed film web is embossed and that between these embossing intervals the embossing foil web in such a way is accelerated that between successive Embossed areas of the embossing film web are still provided with embossed goods Gap or gap that, measured in the web direction, is larger than a blank area between the successive ones Embossing locations on the material layer.
- the embossing film web in the acceleration phase between the successive embossing intervals at least temporarily in the main direction of movement of the embossing film a web speed that is greater than that usually uniform material layer speed.
- the Web speed can e.g. more than 5, 10 or 20% larger than the material speed, but usually less than 50% greater.
- At least one deceleration also takes place in the acceleration phase or speed delay of the embossing foil web instead of by achieve that the embossing foil web in that of the acceleration phase following stamping interval moved again at the same speed as the material layer.
- the increase in speed and braking are coordinated so that in the acceleration period between the embossing intervals, an embossing foil web section through the Embossing gap is moved, the length of which is greater than the length of the im same period of time through the embossing gap layer of material layer.
- the subsequent use of the embossed material in the area of through deliberate enlargement of the space between the consecutive areas to be minted can be in a separate Passing through the embossing foil web, if necessary, after rewinding said Embossing foil web on an unwind roll.
- embossing material present in the spaces in the same embossing foil run embossed, like the embossing in the areas of the embossing limit the gaps in the direction of the web.
- the printing material is in the form of successive single sheets it is advisable to include the period of the withdrawal movement to coordinate the passage of the arches that the retraction at least temporarily during the transition between successive single sheets takes place through the embossing gap.
- the retraction movement is expediently so with the material run and the sequence of distances in succession Embossing locations matched that the withdrawal movement coincides with the passage of the largest embossing location distance in the running direction.
- a Retraction movement does not have to occur after every sheet or be carried out after every particularly large embossing location distance but can also be irregular.
- the extension of the space in Longitudinal direction greater or maximum equal to the direction of extension of the successive areas of minting, which are usually a small one Keep a distance from each other to ensure that the embossing is sharp. It However, it would also be possible to dimension the space so that it is shorter than the longitudinal extension of the boundaries Embossing areas. From this gap would still be Embossed areas that can be embossed, especially smaller in the longitudinal direction are the embossing areas that delimit the space.
- the embossing locations on the to be embossed Material layer have uneven distances from each other.
- the acceleration of the Stamping foil web is carried out so that the distances between successive, embossed areas of embossed goods in the are essentially the same. After this equalization of the distances between embossed embossed areas are therefore between the already embossed areas of the embossed film in the intermediate spaces of substantially the same size, with a Part of the gaps enlarged and another part of gaps is reduced accordingly.
- the invention also relates to a particularly for performing the suitable and adapted hot stamping process Hot stamping device.
- This has an embossing mill, in which between one Cylinder and a movable back pressure element, in particular one Impression cylinder, at least during an embossing interval Embossing gap is formed.
- This has film transport means for production one at the same speed at least during an embossing interval Running an embossing foil web section with one through the embossing gap moving section of material layer, usually with uniform speed through suitable material layer transport is moved through the embossing gap.
- the film transport are designed as film accelerators, so they can discontinuous transport of the embossing foil web or a Generate uneven tracking with the material layer.
- the film accelerator are designed so that the stamping foil web between a first embossing interval and an immediate one subsequent second embossing interval can be accelerated such that a with a not yet embossed embossed space between successive embossing areas of the Stamping foil web becomes larger than an unprinted area between successive embossing locations on the Material layer.
- the film acceleration means are so designed and controllable that the embossing foil web during the Acceleration phase at least temporarily with a larger one Web speed in the main transport direction moves as that Material layer.
- the film acceleration means are useful for Generation of a forward / backward operation designed to the above perform the retracting movements of the embossed film web can.
- a computer unit is provided in order to With the help of the film accelerators and corresponding Work programs of the computer unit predefined speed profiles for the embossing foil web.
- the hot stamping device can with respect to the structure of the stamping and Foil transport means can be designed, for example, as that in the EP 0 718 099 embossing rotary machine described. Can accordingly the film transport means for a single film web one the embossing gap downstream, for example working with a suction belt Traction device with a slip drive for the stamping foil web and a interacting with the traction device, upstream of the embossing gap, controllable film feed device.
- the Foil feed device can at least one in rolling contact with the Stamping foil web standing and rotating speed by a control device and / or have a controllable control roller, which can also be designed as a suction roller and no slip in Embossing foil web direction allowed so that through the foil feed device the exact location and speed of the embossing foil web in Transport direction (or against the transport direction) can be determined.
- a controllable control roller can also be designed as a suction roller and no slip in Embossing foil web direction allowed so that through the foil feed device the exact location and speed of the embossing foil web in Transport direction (or against the transport direction) can be determined.
- Hot stamping device conveyed sheets of paper 1, 2 shown by means of not shown material layer transport means with uniform Material layer speed in a running direction 3 through the embossing gap be promoted.
- the upper part of the drawing figure shows the Situation after the first sheet 1 has passed through the embossing gap, while the lower figure shows the situation after the arch 2 has passed shows a corresponding later date.
- a web section of an embossing film web 4 is shown with the help of film transport means, not shown, also through the embossing gap is promoted.
- An embossing foil usually has a thin, multilayered one dry film on a tear-resistant film carrier, e.g. out Plastic, is arranged.
- the film bears 5 on its front Embossed material, which in the example is a layer of color.
- the Layer structure of the film is usually such that on the front of the Film carrier, for example a wax-like separating layer is arranged, on the color-determining or image-determining, the embossing containing single or multi-layer layer. On this is one thermally activatable hot adhesive layer or adhesive layer is provided.
- the material 1, 2 to be embossed becomes uniform moved through the embossing gap.
- the embossing foil web is moved in such a way that the stamping foil section shown at least during one Coining interval at the same speed as the sheets through the Embossing gap moves.
- the stamping foil web section by means of a not shown, above the paper level arranged, on its circumference with at least one heated Embossing stamp or embossing tool provided on the embossing cylinder impressing material layer section pressed.
- the one on the material layer facing the front 5 of the stamping film arranged hot glue layer heats up during the embossing interval under the influence of typical surface temperatures of more than 200 ° C heated and pressed embossing tool to an embossing temperature and softens.
- applied pressure becomes a good and flat adhesive connection between the printed material or the substrate and the embossed goods created.
- Softened or evaporated at the same time due to the heat of the separating layer, which makes a light Detachment of the embossed material from the film is achieved.
- FIG. 1 a situation is shown which arises if on the single sheet 1 in three with the same time interval consecutive stamping intervals with three on the stamping foil web even distance from each other, for example rectangular embossed areas or ink layer areas 10, 11, 12 one after the other on three in the direction 3 in a row with a distance horizontal embossing locations 13, 14, 15 of the single sheet 1 were embossed.
- embossed embossed area 11 and 12th comes from. Accordingly, e.g. on the middle embossing location 25, which the corresponds to the middle embossing location 14 of the sheet 1, embossed material 26 embossed been, which comes from a room 27 which in the web direction to the rear or third embossing area 12 of the first pass (upper Part of Fig. 1) follows. From the enlarged space 27 between the rear embossed areas 26 and 28 of the second pass after a further retraction movement of the film web in one subsequent run another, marked with two stars Stamping area of the same size can be stamped.
- Fig. 2 shows a speed profile 30 of the embossing foil web 4 in a coordinate system in which on the X axis the time t and the speed v on the Y axis Stamping foil sheet is applied.
- the parallel to the X axis, dash-dotted line represents the constant material layer speed 33, with the single sheets 1, 2 in succession run the embossing gap.
- the areas of the hatched areas under the speed curve 30 each represent distances the film web movement in the running direction (positive speed values) or against the direction of travel (negative speed values).
- the stamping foil web which is initially at a standstill, is in a first Speed increase phase 34 accelerated so that their Path speed corresponds to the material layer speed 33. Then in a first embossing interval 35, in sheet 1 and Stamping foil web 4 at the same speed through the stamping gap run, in the direction of 3 first embossed areas 10 on the embossing location 13 of the sheet 1 is embossed.
- Acceleration phase 36 becomes the speed of the stamping foil web in the main direction of movement 3 first over the Material layer speed 33 is linear, for example, by 25% increased to then linear again down to material layer speed to be slowed down.
- the acceleration phase 36 is running accordingly more film length through the embossing gap than to printing sheet material.
- the embossed material is then from the second embossing area 11 from the embossing foil web to the middle one Transfer embossing location 14 of the first sheet 1. Because in the Acceleration phase 36 more film web length through the embossing gap runs as sheet material, the embossed stamping foil areas 10, 11 are located in the longitudinal direction 3 further apart than the corresponding embossing locations 13, 14 on the sheet material.
- the second embossing interval follows then another acceleration phase 38 with Speed increase and deceleration until finally in the third Embossing interval 39 the embossing material present in the embossing area 12 on Embossing location 15 of the sheet 1 is embossed.
- sheet 1 Shortly after the third embossing interval, sheet 1 has the Embossing gap happens and the sheet 2 following at a distance approaches the embossing gap. During this time, until the passage of the a lot of time passes through the embossing gap at the next embossing location, the embossed foil web is braked to a standstill and against the Main direction of movement 3 withdrawn so far through the embossing gap, that part of the stamping foil web section shown in Fig. 1 above is again in the main direction of movement in front of the embossing gap.
- the while the retraction phase 40 generated maximum retraction speed, whose amount in the example is the amount of the opposite Material layer speed corresponds, as well as the duration of the Treatment phase are controlled in the example so that the determined by it Withdrawal route (corresponding to the area under the negative portion of the Speed profile 30) is sufficient so that after another Increase in speed of the stamping foil web in the main transport direction the embossing foil web during a fourth embossing interval 41 through the Embossing gap runs that embossed 24 from the enlarged space between the already embossed areas 11 and 12 at the embossing location 23 can be transferred to the second sheet 2.
- embossed goods 26 from the following Foil section can be transferred to the sheet 2 follows the fourth embossing interval 41 indicates a further acceleration phase 42, in which is the speed control of the embossing foil web exactly that corresponds to the first acceleration phase 36.
- the Stamping foil web for example in the acceleration phases 36, 38 and 42 runs faster through the embossing gap in the main transport direction 3 than that material to be stamped, can therefore be achieved that on the Embossing foil track the gaps between successive, embossed Areas can be enlarged so that in a further, preferably directly subsequent film pass material from the enlarged Gap can be embossed.
- FIG Procedure Another variant of FIG Procedure explained in the successive Single sheets 45, 46 an asymmetrical embossing is generated, in which the Distances between successive embossing locations vary, whereby in the example the Clearance between the first embossing location 47 and the second embossing location 48 is greater than the distance between the second and third embossing location 49.
- the method is used to determine the distances of the associated Embossed areas 50, 51, 52 to be evened out so that between them already embossed areas of embossing so much unused space remains that in a subsequent pass of the embossing foil web from the Gaps of the same size can be stamped in between.
- embossing foil web then becomes 56 over the material layer speed 57 accelerated that the on the Embossing foil web resulting space 58 between the second Minting area 51 and that during the subsequent third Embossing interval 59 embossed subsequent embossing area 52 is larger than the distance between the measured on the material layer associated embossing locations 48 and 49.
- the acceleration 56 in connection with the delay 54 thus leads to a centering of the middle one Stamping area 51 between the stamping areas surrounding it 50, 52 such that after a corresponding withdrawal phase 60 at Pass through the embossing foil web through the embossing gap below Control of the same speed profile in the Interstices 58 existing embossed goods can still be embossed.
- the Film transport as a film accelerator for one discontinuous transport of the film web are designed and their Control allows a film web guide with speed profiles that especially those required during the acceleration phases Speed increase of the embossing foil web over the Allow material layer speed beyond.
- suitable hot stamping rotation device is shown and described for example in EP 0 718 099, the Features made by reference to the content of this description become. It can also be a flat-round machine in which Embossing gap not by two cylinders, but by an embossing cylinder and delimits a flat, oscillatingly drivable counter pressure element becomes.
- embossed material in the form of Color areas of a color layer of the embossing foil web can do this Embossed goods also in the form of discrete, arranged side by side or one behind the other Embossing units such as pictures, texts or the like are available.
- These stamping units can thanks to the invention on the embossing film web possibly much narrower be arranged to each other than the corresponding embossing locations on the Substrate.
- the process is also the same for all types of substrates suitable, not only for those described in the examples Single sheets, but also for continuous through the embossing gap funded substrates.

Abstract
Description
geeignete Heißprägevorrichtung nach dem Oberbegriff von Anspruch 7.The invention relates to a hot stamping method according to the preamble of
Hot stamping processes and devices of this type become Hot stamping of material layers to be stamped on one Embossed foil web used for the embossed material.

An inventive hot stamping method of the type mentioned draws is characterized in that at least once during a Embossing run during a first embossing interval on a first Embossing location of a material layer is a first embossing area of the Embossing foil web is embossed that during an immediate subsequent second embossing interval at a second embossing location Material layer in the first embossing area in the web direction subsequent second embossed area of the embossed film web is embossed and that between these embossing intervals the embossing foil web in such a way is accelerated that between successive Embossed areas of the embossing film web are still provided with embossed goods Gap or gap that, measured in the web direction, is larger than a blank area between the successive ones Embossing locations on the material layer. It is, in deviation from all known solutions, provided that the embossing film web in the acceleration phase between the successive embossing intervals at least temporarily in the main direction of movement of the embossing film a web speed that is greater than that usually uniform material layer speed. The Web speed can e.g. more than 5, 10 or 20% larger than the material speed, but usually less than 50% greater. At least one deceleration also takes place in the acceleration phase or speed delay of the embossing foil web instead of by achieve that the embossing foil web in that of the acceleration phase following stamping interval moved again at the same speed as the material layer. The increase in speed and braking are coordinated so that in the acceleration period between the embossing intervals, an embossing foil web section through the Embossing gap is moved, the length of which is greater than the length of the im same period of time through the embossing gap layer of material layer.
Through this with the aim of minimizing Film web committee seemingly contradictory measure can be achieved be that the space between the successive, already embossed areas of embossing compared to the distance of the associated stamping locations is enlarged so far that in a time subsequent embossing step from this enlarged intermediate area can still be minted. A space between successive areas of embossing, which is for example too small, in order according to the conventional methods described at the outset Being saved can therefore consciously stretch or lengthen something to then fill in the (enlarged) space for to use at least one further embossing. The film consumption is therefore initially deliberately enlarged locally to subsequently under Total use of the embossed goods located in the intermediate space a very effective use of the space available on the embossing foil web To get embossed goods.
The subsequent use of the embossed material in the area of through deliberate enlargement of the space between the consecutive areas to be minted can be in a separate Passing through the embossing foil web, if necessary, after rewinding said Embossing foil web on an unwind roll. Preferably this is in However, embossing material present in the spaces in the same embossing foil run embossed, like the embossing in the areas of the embossing limit the gaps in the direction of the web. This takes place at a preferred development of the method a limited Retraction movement of the embossing foil web against the main direction of movement after a second embossing interval and a subsequent one Acceleration of the embossing foil web in the main direction of movement in such a way that in a third following the second embossing interval Embossing interval embossing from the space on the material layer is transferable. The stretched gap area runs after the Withdrawal movement at least a second time through the embossing gap, with this second pass the embossing foil web compared to the first pass is offset so far in the web direction that in Intermediate material to be embossed by means of an embossing die on the Material layer can be transferred.
If the printing material is in the form of successive single sheets it is advisable to include the period of the withdrawal movement to coordinate the passage of the arches that the retraction at least temporarily during the transition between successive single sheets takes place through the embossing gap. There usually between consecutive single sheets there is a certain distance between the successive ones Sheets a stamping break that is at least as long as that Time between passing the trailing edge of a leading Bow and the passage of the leading edge of a directly lagging Spread through the embossing gap. This usually means more Time available for the required acceleration movements, so that only lower degrees of acceleration and correspondingly lower, on the sensitive stamping foil web forces are required. in the general, in particular also when printing in web form existing material layers, the retraction movement is expediently so with the material run and the sequence of distances in succession Embossing locations matched that the withdrawal movement coincides with the passage of the largest embossing location distance in the running direction. A Retraction movement does not have to occur after every sheet or be carried out after every particularly large embossing location distance but can also be irregular.
Further training is particularly advantageous if successive areas of embossing essentially the same shape and have size. With this training, the acceleration of Embossing foil sheet carried out so that the (enlarged) space is dimensioned such that from the area of the intermediate space subsequently at least one embossed area can be stamped, which in the has essentially the same dimensions as that of the gap limiting embossing areas. To avoid excessive Accelerations are preferably carried out so that exactly one Embossing area is positioned in the space, preferably symmetrical between the delimiting areas. So here is the gap size, i.e. the extension of the space in Longitudinal direction, greater or maximum equal to the direction of extension of the successive areas of minting, which are usually a small one Keep a distance from each other to ensure that the embossing is sharp. It However, it would also be possible to dimension the space so that it is shorter than the longitudinal extension of the boundaries Embossing areas. From this gap would still be Embossed areas that can be embossed, especially smaller in the longitudinal direction are the embossing areas that delimit the space.
It can happen that the embossing locations on the to be embossed Material layer have uneven distances from each other. In particular for such cases it can be provided that the acceleration of the Stamping foil web is carried out so that the distances between successive, embossed areas of embossed goods in the are essentially the same. After this equalization of the distances between embossed embossed areas are therefore between the already embossed areas of the embossed film in the intermediate spaces of substantially the same size, with a Part of the gaps enlarged and another part of gaps is reduced accordingly.
The invention also relates to a particularly for performing the suitable and adapted hot stamping process Hot stamping device. This has an embossing mill, in which between one Cylinder and a movable back pressure element, in particular one Impression cylinder, at least during an embossing interval Embossing gap is formed. This has film transport means for production one at the same speed at least during an embossing interval Running an embossing foil web section with one through the embossing gap moving section of material layer, usually with uniform speed through suitable material layer transport is moved through the embossing gap. The film transport are designed as film accelerators, so they can discontinuous transport of the embossing foil web or a Generate uneven tracking with the material layer. The film accelerator are designed so that the stamping foil web between a first embossing interval and an immediate one subsequent second embossing interval can be accelerated such that a with a not yet embossed embossed space between successive embossing areas of the Stamping foil web becomes larger than an unprinted area between successive embossing locations on the Material layer.
As mentioned, the film acceleration means are so designed and controllable that the embossing foil web during the Acceleration phase at least temporarily with a larger one Web speed in the main transport direction moves as that Material layer. The film acceleration means are useful for Generation of a forward / backward operation designed to the above perform the retracting movements of the embossed film web can. Although a purely electronic control of the Foil accelerator is possible is appropriate for control of the film acceleration means, a computer unit is provided in order to With the help of the film accelerators and corresponding Work programs of the computer unit predefined speed profiles for the embossing foil web.
The hot stamping device can with respect to the structure of the stamping and Foil transport means can be designed, for example, as that in the EP 0 718 099 embossing rotary machine described. Can accordingly the film transport means for a single film web one the embossing gap downstream, for example working with a suction belt Traction device with a slip drive for the stamping foil web and a interacting with the traction device, upstream of the embossing gap, controllable film feed device. The Foil feed device can at least one in rolling contact with the Stamping foil web standing and rotating speed by a control device and / or have a controllable control roller, which can also be designed as a suction roller and no slip in Embossing foil web direction allowed so that through the foil feed device the exact location and speed of the embossing foil web in Transport direction (or against the transport direction) can be determined. By e.g. computer-controlled control of the control roller can film speed profiles according to the invention can be realized.

Haftschicht vorgesehen. An embossing foil usually has a thin, multilayered one dry film on a tear-resistant film carrier, e.g. out Plastic, is arranged. The film bears 5 on its front Embossed material, which in the example is a layer of color. The Layer structure of the film is usually such that on the front of the Film carrier, for example a wax-like separating layer is arranged, on the color-determining or image-determining, the embossing containing single or multi-layer layer. On this is one thermally activatable hot adhesive layer or adhesive layer is provided.
During the embossing, the
In the upper part of FIG. 1, a situation is shown which arises if

The corresponding situation after embossing a pattern from
Based on the lower part of Fig. 1 it can be seen that after the
second and third pass of the stamping foil web 4 through the stamping gap

Fig. 2 zeigt ein Geschwindigkeitsprofil

This particularly good film utilization is made possible by a special

The stamping foil web, which is initially at a standstill, is in a first

Shortly after the third embossing interval,
Due to the limited withdrawal movement during the
With the help of the film acceleration according to the invention, in which the
Stamping foil web, for example in the acceleration phases 36, 38 and
42 runs faster through the embossing gap in the
bereits abgeprägten Prägegutbereichen so viel ungenutzter Zwischenraum
Another variant of FIG

The method explained using the drawing figures as an example can be carried out with any suitable hot stamping device, the Film transport as a film accelerator for one discontinuous transport of the film web are designed and their Control allows a film web guide with speed profiles that especially those required during the acceleration phases Speed increase of the embossing foil web over the Allow material layer speed beyond. One of them suitable hot stamping rotation device is shown and described for example in EP 0 718 099, the Features made by reference to the content of this description become. It can also be a flat-round machine in which Embossing gap not by two cylinders, but by an embossing cylinder and delimits a flat, oscillatingly drivable counter pressure element becomes.
While the embossed material in the form of Color areas of a color layer of the embossing foil web can do this Embossed goods also in the form of discrete, arranged side by side or one behind the other Embossing units such as pictures, texts or the like are available. These stamping units can thanks to the invention on the embossing film web possibly much narrower be arranged to each other than the corresponding embossing locations on the Substrate. The process is also the same for all types of substrates suitable, not only for those described in the examples Single sheets, but also for continuous through the embossing gap funded substrates.
