Definitions

  • the present invention relates to an electronic watch powered by a electric power source and including time indicator hands rotating on a dial, a device displaying at least the date, this device being formed of first and second indicators on which numbers are affixed indicating respectively the tens and the units of said date, this date appearing through a large window pierced in the dial, and a command that can be activated manually to allow time setting hands and updating the date.
  • watches displaying the date are equipped with a single disc or ring on the periphery of which are affixed numbers ranging from 0 to 31 and appearing through a window pierced in the dial of the watch. Over there nature of things the indications of the date are then small and relatively difficult to read.
  • we offer on the market watches equipped with a calendar says at large window through which a first indicator appears on which are affixed the numbers of tens of the date and a second indicator on which are affixed the numbers of the units of the said date.
  • Document CH 688.671 describes such a large window date.
  • the date display mechanism includes a disc indicating the ten to four positions and a ten position unit indicator disc.
  • the mechanism includes a drive wheel making one revolution per month and with two distinct irregular teeth.
  • the first set has thirty teeth to increment the tens indicator disc.
  • the teeth of the first teeth are spaced a 31st turn apart so that a tooth is missing to form complete circular toothing and thus the increment of the disc of the units missing one step out of thirty-one.
  • the drive wheel is positioned angularly so that the 1 is the number whose display is kept more long, the teeth of the second teeth being arranged so that the disc tens indicator is incremented, on the one hand, each time the disc unit indicator goes from 9 to 0 and, on the other hand, when the tooth missing would have activated the unit indicator if it had existed.
  • the present invention also offers display, using the same first and second indicators, the number of the month and the last two digits of the year, the date may then be a perpetual calendar.
  • watch 1 As shown in FIG. 1, watch 1 according to the invention includes hour indicators 2, 4 and 5 rotating on a dial 3. Here we have shown a second hand 2 and minute hands 5 and hours 4. Clear however that the second hand 2 could be removed as will be seen lower.
  • the watch also includes a device 6 displaying at least the date. This system is made up of first 9 and second 10 indicators (which appear better still in Figure 2) on which are affixed numbers 11 and 12 indicating respectively the tens and the units of said date. As shown in the figure 1, the date appears through a large window 13 drilled in the dial 3.
  • the watch 1 also includes a control member 8 composed here of a rod 23 capped of a crown 24 but which could be of another nature. The control unit 8 allows setting the time of the hands and updating the date.
  • first 9 and second 10 indicators are each driven by an independent motor as seen in Figure 2 where the first indicator 9 is driven by the motor 17 and where the second indicator 10 is driven by the motor 18.
  • a chain kinematics 41 separates the motor 17 from the first indicator 9 and that a chain kinematics 42 separates the motor 18 from the second indicator 10.
  • the first and second indicators component of the date are each controlled by an independent motor, this advantageously replacing the complicated drive and setting mechanisms on the day of said date, mechanisms mentioned above with respect to the prior art.
  • the control unit we will use the control unit to correct the date at the end months with less than thirty-one days.
  • the first and second indicators 9 and 10 can be formed of two concentric discs as shown in Figures 3 and 4.
  • the date appears through the window 13. It will be understood that the window can only be placed at 3 o'clock or at 9 o'clock.
  • Another embodiment not shown consists in propose two concentric and superimposed rings as described for example in document CH 316.461. This other embodiment allows a display of the date at noon or at 6 o'clock.
  • watch 1 has a hand seconds 2 driven via a kinematic chain 43, by a first motor 15, and driven 4 hour and 5 minute hands, via another kinematic chain 44, by a second motor 16.
  • the first and second indicators 9 and 10 are driven respectively, via kinematic chains 41 and 42, by third and fourth engines 17 and 18.
  • the first and second indicators 9 and 10 are capable of displaying current data relating to the calendar, either successively and respectively the perpetual calendar, the number of the month and the last two digits of the year.
  • the watch includes an energy source 25 which, in the watch taken example here is a stack.
  • an energy source 25 which, in the watch taken example here is a stack.
  • power supply for example a solar cell or a controlled generator by an oscillating mass, the battery chosen here therefore in no way constituting a limitation of the invention.
  • the watch also has a 45 quartz time base followed by a divider 46 which controls a block 26 whose purpose is to manage the time and calendar data. To do this, this block 26 has counters for days, months and years arranged to deliver a perpetual calendar extending at least on the century beginning in the year 2001.
  • the way to organize block 26 will not be described in detail here because it is known and explained in numerous documents by example in the invention reports CH 686 106 (EP-B-0 617 346) and EP-A-0 247 418.
  • FIG. 5 also shows that block 26 is controlled by a block management 47 of the inputs of the control member 8, ie the position of this member T0 to T3 as well as the direction A or B of its rotation, this block 47 also being described in first document which has just been cited.
  • the designation of the data appearing in the counter can be done other than by the second hand 2.
  • the watch only has hour and minute hands each driven by an independent motor and at the time of activation of the control member 8, these two hands are superimposed to point to one of the indications described above and shown on the dial 3.
  • Such a procedure is known from document EP-B-0 589 353 (US 5,299,177) where the hour and minute hands are gathered to indicate for example whether or not a bell will be triggered at the when a wake-up time is reached. So in conclusion of what has just been said, does the watch of the invention generally have at least two hands driven respectively by first and second motors 15 and 16.
  • the control member 8 comprises in the watch taken as an example a rod 23 capped with a crown 24.
  • the crown can be turned in a first direction A or a second direction B. This crown mostly occupies a neutral stable position T1 for which the watch is in normal mode where it displays the second, minute, hour and calendar. From the stable position T1, the crown can be pushed into a position T0 which remains pressed as long as manual pressure is exerted on the crown 24. The crown then plays the role of a pusher which returns to position neutral and stable T1 when the pressure is released. Finally the crown 24 can be brought from the first neutral stable position T1 to a second position stable pulled T2, then to a third stable position pulled T3.
  • FIG. 1 is a flowchart explaining the various functions of the crown 24.
  • a short short press T0 is exerted on the crown 24, this pressure being exerted for a duration of less than one determined time, chosen here at 4 seconds, i.e. p ⁇ 4. So we bring the first and second indicators 9 and 10 to display the date referenced 30 in FIG. 6. We draw then the crown in its second position T2.
  • the update, referenced in 31, is carried out by turning the crown 24 in a direction A to set the first indicator 9 and in the other direction B to set the second indicator 10. This being done, we exercise a second short press T0 on the crown 24, which brings the first and second indicators 9 and 10 to display the number of the month (from 1 to 12) referenced 32 in Figure 6.
  • the crown 24 is then pulled into its second position T2.
  • the setting number of the month, referenced 33, is carried out by turning the crown 24 in a direction A to set the first indicator 9 (that of the tens) and in the other direction B to set the second indicator 10 (that of the units).
  • This being done we exercise a third short press T0 on crown 24, which brings the first and second indicators 9 and 10 to display the last two digits of the year (01 to 99) referenced 34 in FIG. 6.
  • the crown 24 is then pulled into its second position T2.
  • Setting year, referenced 35 is performed by turning the crown 24 in a direction A to set the first indicator 10 (that of the units).
  • a fourth short press T0 on crown 24 which brings the first and second indicators 9 and 10 in normal S mode where they display the date.
  • Figure 6 also shows that after each adjustment 31, 33 or 35 you can return in normal mode S by placing crown 24 in position T1.
  • Figure 6 also shows that you can go directly from a display (for example calendar 30) to the other (for example month 32) without having to go through an adjustment of this data. To do this, after having displayed the date 30 by example, short press T0 on the crown to display the month 32.
  • FIG. 6 finally shows that after any one of the displays 30, 32 or 34, the watch goes into normal mode S after a certain determined period of time that we set here at 6 seconds (reference t> 6). It should be noted that this peculiarity could not to exist.
  • a long pressure T0 is exerted on the crown 24, this pressure being exerted for a duration greater than a time determined, chosen here at 4 seconds, i.e. p> 4.
  • the first indicator 9 is initialized to zero by turning the crown 24 in the first direction A (operation referenced by 37) following which initializes the second indicator 10 to zero by turning the crown 24 in the second direction B (operation referenced by 38).
  • short pressure T0 (p> 4) is exerted on crown 24 and the various calendar values as explained in detail above.
  • the watch of the invention is equipped with a fine initialization system. To do this and after exerted a long pressure T0 (p> 4) on the crown, or pulls the latter in position T3.
  • the first indicator 9 is finely initialized by turning the crown 24 in the first direction A (operation referenced by 39) after which we initialize finely the second indicator 10 by turning the crown 24 in the second direction B (operation referenced by 40).
