Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a terminal cover for the terminals of a polyphase electrical switching device with in a common housing for all phases insulating material of the switching device mounted electrical terminals, which are used for the attachment of electrical lines in the terminals, perpendicular to the lines of the surface of the Isolierstoffgeophuses are equipped with recesses accessible clamping screws.
  • cover device for securing terminals of electrical installation devices.
  • the cover device is approximately L-shaped in cross section. This cover is held with at least one behind projections or recesses on the installation device cross resilient nose on the installation device. This cover device serves as protection against contact for the terminals and does not increase the dielectric strength between the terminals of adjacent phases of the installation device.
  • the object of the present invention is to propose a terminal cover for the terminals of a polyphase electrical switching device, which causes the increase of the dielectric strength between the terminals of adjacent phases of the switching device and so meets the requirements of the various standards, e.g. The US standard UL508, in terms of dielectric strength between adjacent terminals of an electrical switching device corresponds and is economically advantageous.
  • Terminal cover closely abuts on its side facing the insulating material in the edge region of the leading to the terminal connection openings on the insulating housing with a negligible air gap that the terminal cover is provided on its surface facing away from the insulating material between the cap openings leading to the terminals with protruding, the necessary Kriechweg securing ribs.
  • Various standards require testing the dielectric strength between the adjacent terminals of an electrical switching device.
  • the terminal cover can be permanently attached to the finished switching device before connecting the electrical lines by snap connections.
  • Various standards require that a terminal cover on the insulating housing must be permanently attached. This is achieved by the intended, non-releasable snap connections.
  • the terminal cover advantageously has, on its side facing the insulating housing, at least one holding extension engaging behind the insulating housing and at least one snap-action nose engaging behind a projection of the insulating housing. This arrangement allows the permanent attachment of the terminal cover on the insulating material without screw, which is particularly advantageous for relatively small switching devices.
  • the L-shaped terminal cover cap can be screwed in the region of the recesses leading to the terminals on the insulating housing and with the leg perpendicular thereto on the insulating housing with at least one be on the insulating housing engaging behind retaining stop and secured with at least one engaging on a projection of the insulating housing snap-action nose.
  • the snap-on nose acting on the insulating housing secures the permanent attachment of the terminal cover cap to the insulating housing.
  • the terminal cover cap may have separating recesses projecting into the cavity of the recesses leading to the terminals of adjacent phases.
  • the dividing extensions engaging in the cavity of the recesses leading to the terminals serve as an electrical barrier and increase the limit of the minimum test voltage required for the switching device.
  • FIG 1 a relatively small electrical switching device is shown in perspective.
  • the switching device with switching contact pieces, contact actuating mechanism and terminals is housed in an insulating material 1.
  • the unillustrated electrical lines can be inserted through the connection openings 5, 6, 7 to the terminals.
  • the measures provided for fixing the electrical wires in the terminals, perpendicular to the lines clamping screws are accessible from the surface of the insulating housing 1 through the recesses 2, 3, 4.
  • the leakage path between the terminals on the surface of the insulating material is insufficient to maintain the test voltage prescribed in various standards. That brings in the Figures 2, 3 and 4 shown terminal cover 8 remedy.
  • FIGS. 2 and 3 show the terminal cover 8 from the side facing away from the insulating material 1 side.
  • FIGS. 2 and 3 show the terminal cover 8 from the side facing away from the insulating material 1 side.
  • the through the recesses 5, 6, 7 leading to the terminals not shown recesses 9, 10, 11 and between the well visible in Figure 4 cap openings 12, 13, 14 lying, multi-layered ribs 15, 16 are good recognizable.
  • the two side ribs 17, 18 increase the creepage distance to the outer terminals of an adjacent switching device, not shown, and form the lateral termination of the terminal cover cap eighth
  • the L-shaped, attached to the switching device terminal cover 8 extends with its one leg on the leading to the clamping screws recesses 2, 3, 4 and with the other leg on the connection terminals leading to the connection openings 5, 6, 7.
  • Fig. 4 shows two retaining extensions 19, 20, which are introduced during assembly of the terminal cover 8 on the switching device in the mounted in the insulating housing 1 holding openings 21.
  • the visible in Figure 4 snap-on nose 22 at the end of a groove lying projection 23 of the insulating 1 and ensures a permanent connection between the terminal cover 8 and the insulating 1.
  • This permanent connection is prescribed in various standards ,
  • the terminal cover 8 is located with the insulating housing 1 facing edge portions of the cap openings 9, 10, 11 at the edge regions of the connection openings 5, 6, 7 of the insulating material 1 closely. These tight around the connection openings 5, 6, 7 adjacent parts of the terminal cover 8 increase the electrical resistance between the terminals of the electrical device detectable, so that the required in the various provisions electrical resistance between the terminals of an electrical switching device using the terminal cover 8 is reached ,
  • Trennfort systems 24 are formed on the terminal cover, which protrude into the existing in the insulating 1 recesses 5, 6, 7 and so contribute to Kriechwegverinrung.
  • the Dividing extensions 24 may have different shapes and correspondingly protrude into only a part or the entire circumference of the recesses 5, 6, 7 in this.
  • the terminal cover 32 shown in FIGS. 6, 7 and 8 is intended for a larger switching device.
  • the basic arrangement is similar to what has been described previously for a smaller switching device.
  • the most important difference between the two arrangements is that in this arrangement, the terminal cover 32 is secured to the insulating housing 25 not only by a snap connection but also by a screw connection.
  • the insulating housing 25 in Fig.5 also encloses the switching contact pieces, the contact actuating mechanism and the terminals.
  • the electrical lines, not shown, are inserted through the connection openings 29, 30, 31 to the terminals and clamped there with the accessible through the recesses 26, 27, 28 clamping screws. With the help of the terminal cover 32, the electrical strength between the terminals is increased even with this arrangement.
  • FIG. 8 shows this terminal cover cap 32 from the side facing the insulating housing 25. 8 shows the cap openings 50, 51, 52 serving to supply the electrical lines to the terminals.
  • the terminal cover cap 32 is shown from the side facing away from the insulating housing.
  • the protruding ribs 36, 37 which serve to extend the creepage distance between adjacent terminals and thus to increase the electrical strength.
  • the lateral end ribs 38,39 are also clearly visible.
  • the L-shaped, attached to the switching device terminal cover 32 extends with its one leg on the connection terminals leading to the terminal openings 29, 30, 31. This leg is screwed when mounting the terminal cover 32 with the screws 40 on the insulating housing 25. This leg carries on its side facing the insulating material 25 side two retaining stops 41, 42, which in the assembly in the two on the insulating housing 25 integrally formed nips 43, 44 engage. When mounting the terminal cover 32 this is pressed after introduction of the retaining stops 41, 42 in the nips 43, 44 in the direction of arrow 49 on the Isolierstoffgepuruse 25 until the molded on the inside of the other leg of the L-shaped terminal cover 32 snap-in nose 45 behind the on End of a groove lying projection 46 engages. This snap connection secures the permanent connection between the terminal cover tape 32 and the insulating housing 25. To secure the terminal cover cap 32, the screws 40 which hold the terminal cover cap 32 on the insulating housing 25 serve.
  • the Klemmabdeckkappe 32 is with the insulating material 25 facing edge portions of the cap openings 50, 51, 52 at the edge regions of the connection openings 29, 30, 31 of the insulating housing 25 close.
  • the close-fitting Isolierstoffmaschine increase between the terminals of the electrical switching device, the electrical resistance in comparison with the electrical strength without terminal cover cap 32nd
  • the provided with a positioning pin arm 47 of the terminal cover 32 serves only as an assembly aid.
  • terminal cover caps 8 and 32 can be mounted on both connection sides of a symmetrically designed, electrical switching device.
