Abstract

The guide part for the flexible cable (12) comprises a guide block (13) fitted into a cavity in the wall of the mounting region (3) used to receive the e.g. tree. The guide block is in direct contact with the cable tensioning device (8) and the force generated in response to the tension force is transferred via the guide block to the stand foot (1). The stand is used to fix bar or rod-shaped articles into position and has a foot with a mounting region for receiving the end of the article, the mounting region being defined by a wall and having pivoting holder parts (7) distributed around a symmetry axis. The holder parts are pivotable between open and closed positions in planes which roughly intersect at the symmetry axis. A flexible cable in the form of an essentially closed loop extends through all the holder parts and is operated by a tensioning device in order to move the holder parts between the open and closed positions. At least one looped end of the cable is passed through the guide part in the outwards direction.
