Les images du guide de propagation disposé dans le plan XOY, par rapport aux plans YOZ et ZOX, sont toutes situées dans ce même plan XOY avec des champs électriques parallèles à OX. De surcroît, ces images émettent des distributions de champ électrique dont la polarisation est parallèle à OX, c'est à dire perpendiculaire à la polarisation du champ électrique des distributions émises par les deux autres générateurs. Tant que l'applicateur est vide ou occupé par un objet homogène, les trois générateurs sont ainsi découplés.
  • Le découplage des trois générateurs permet à l'applicateur d'irradier l'objet à traiter de façon homogène, avec trois distributions de champ électromagnétique séparées qui s'additionnent. La puissance totale fournie par les générateurs est ainsi trois fois celle fournie par chacun d'entre eux. Il est possible par exemple d'irradier un objet avec une puissance totale de 2,7 kW en utilisant trois générateurs de 900 W chacun. D'un point de vue économique, si chaque générateur coûte 50 euros, on obtient ainsi 2,7 kW pour 150 euros. De surcroît, le fait d'utiliser trois générateurs de faible puissance dispense d'utiliser des circulateurs qui sont nécessaires lorsqu'on utilise des générateurs de forte puissance.
  • Dans cette invention chaque magnétron peut être alimente par chacune des trois phases du secteur triphasé, de sorte que l'alimentation électrique d'un applicateur reste équilibrée.
  • D'autres avantages de l'invention apparaîtront à la lecture de la description de quatre modes d'exécution illustrés par les dessins.
  • La figure 1 montre de façon schématique un dispositif à micro-ondes selon un premier mode d'exécution de l'invention.
  • La figure 2 est une vue de principe montrant trois guides de propagation de section rectangulaire, disposés perpendiculairement aux faces du trièdre selon le premier mode d'exécution illustré par la figure 1.

  • La figure 7 est une vue de principe montrant les trois guides de propagation de section rectangulaire illustrés par la figure 1, montés amovibles en rotation autour de leur direction longitudinale de propagation et en translation parallèlement aux faces du trièdre sur lesquelles ils sont placés.
  • Les figures 8A et 8B montrent de façon schématique un guide de propagation d'un dispositif selon la figure 1, monté amovible en rotation et en translation sur l'une des plaques du trièdre tri-rectangulaire. La figure 9 représente la distribution du champ électromagnétique créé par un dispositif à micro-ondes selon le premier mode d'exécution de l'invention, l'applicateur de section circulaire étant un réacteur de déshydratation.
  • La figure 10 montre de façon schématique un dispositif à micro-ondes selon le premier mode d'exécution de l'invention dans lequel l'applicateur est un four de verrier.
  • En référence aux figures 1 et 2, un dispositif à micro-ondes selon un premier mode d'exécution de l'invention comprend un applicateur 1 destiné à recevoir un objet à traiter 3, par exemple un liquide, et trois générateurs (non représentés) alimentant l'applicateur 1 par l'intermédiaire de trois guides de propagation 101, 102 et 103. Ces derniers propagent les micro-ondes générées respectivement par les trois générateurs en étant montés respectivement sur trois plaques 71, 72 et 73 formant un trièdre tri-rectangulaire repéré par les axes OX, OY et OZ. Les trois guides de propagation 101, 102 et 103 sont disposés de façon symétrique par rapport à l'axe de symétrie ternaire Δ du trièdre. De surcroît, chaque guide de propagation 101, 102 ou 103 s'étend suivant une direction longitudinale de propagation L1, L2 ou L3 perpendiculaire à la plaque 71, 72 ou 73 sur laquelle il est monté.
  • Dans ce premier mode d'exécution, les trois guides de propagation 101, 102 et 103 sont de section rectangulaire et montés respectivement sur les trois plaques 71, 72 et 73 pour que les petits côtés 91, 92 et 93 de leur section rectangulaire restent deux à deux orthogonaux. Ainsi, comme illustré par la figure 2, les vecteurs du champ électrique, orientés parallèlement aux petits côtés 91, 92 et 93 de la section rectangulaire, sont orthogonaux l'un à l'autre. Cet agencement permet aux trois générateurs d'alimenter l'applicateur 1 en étant découplés les uns des autres.
  • Les trois guides de propagation 101, 102 et 103 débouchent dans l'applicateur 1 par des fenêtres 41, 42 et 43 transparentes aux micro-ondes formées à une extrémité de chaque guide, en correspondance avec des ouvertures formées dans les plaques 71, 72 et 73 sur lesquelles ils sont montés. Le trièdre tri-rectangulaire est disposé au-dessus de l'applicateur 1 suivant l'axe de symétrie ternaire Δ du trièdre. Le produit à traiter 3 peut être récupéré par une conduite inférieure.
  • II convient de noter que la présence du liquide dans l'applicateur décale les images électriques des générateurs par rapport à la surface libre du liquide, d'une quantité en rapport avec la permittivité du liquide. Il s'ensuit que les trois générateurs restent découplés même en ce qui concerne les ondes réfléchies par la surface libre du liquide.
  • Conséquence du découplage des trois générateurs, la distribution de l'énergie appliquée à l'objet à traiter est la somme des carrés des composantes des champs électriques générés par chaque générateur. D'où il résulte que la contribution de chaque générateur à la puissance totale du dispositif est la plus grande possible.
  • En référence à la figure 3, un deuxième mode d'exécution de l'invention se distingue du précédent en ce que chaque guide de propagation 201, 202 et 203 s'étend suivant une direction longitudinale de propagation ℓ1, ℓ2 ou ℓ3 parallèle à la plaque 71, 72 ou 73 sur laquelle il est monté. Les trois guides de propagation 201, 202 et 203 sont disposés de façon symétrique par rapport à l'axe de symétrie ternaire Δ du trièdre.
  • Dans ce deuxième mode d'exécution, les trois guides de propagation 201, 202 et 203 sont également de section rectangulaire et montés respectivement sur les trois plaques 71, 72 et 73 pour que les petits côtés 91, 92 et 93 de leur section rectangulaire restent deux à deux orthogonaux. Cet agencement permet là encore aux trois générateurs d'alimenter l'applicateur 1 en étant découplés les uns des autres.
  • Les trois guides de propagation 201, 202 et 203 débouchent dans l'applicateur par des fentes 51, 52, et 53 formées dans le petit côté de chaque guide de propagation, en correspondance avec des ouvertures formées dans les plaques 71, 72 et 73 sur lesquelles ils sont montés.
  • Les fentes sont usinées dans le petit côté des guides de propagation pour avoir une longueur égale à λg / 4 et être distantes d'un court-circuit situé au fond du guide de (1 + 2n) λg / 4 où λg est la longueur d'onde de propagation dans les guides d'alimentation de section rectangulaire. A titre d'exemple, à la fréquence de 2450 MHz, λg vaut 173 mm pour un guide de propagation de section définie par un petit côté égal à 43 mm et un grand côté égal à 86 mm. Il s'ensuit que la distribution du champ électromagnétique est plus homogène que celle que l'on obtient avec les guides de propagation à fenêtre transparente, comme ceux utilisés dans le premier mode d'exécution. De plus, la densité d'énergie existant au voisinage des fentes peut être ajustée à la demande pour ne pas dépasser une valeur critique et éviter la présence d'arc lorsque l'on désire augmenter la puissance des générateurs.
  • Il est prévu de former les fentes dans le grand côté des guides de propagation de section rectangulaire. Figure 4A, des fentes 51A, 52A ou 53A sont usinées dans le grand côté 21A, 22A ou 23A des guides de propagation 201-203 suivant la direction longitudinale L1-L3 de propagation pour avoir une distance entre deux fentes successives égale à λg / 2 et être distantes d'un court-circuit situé au fond du guide de (1 + 2n) λg / 4.. Figure 4B, des fentes 51B, 52B ou 53B sont usinées dans le grand côté 21B, 22B, 23B des guides de propagation 201-203 pour avoir une distance entre deux fentes successives égale à λg / 2 et être distantes d'un court-circuit situé au fond du guide de n λg / 2. L'angle des fentes par rapport à la direction longitudinale de propagation des guides dépend du nombre des fentes usinées dans un guide. Il convient de se reporter par exemple à la publication suivante : A.F. Harvey, « Microwave Engineering », Academic Press (1963), pages 634-636 et en particulier les références 332 et 457 citées aux pages 690 et 694 respectivement. En référence à la figure 5, un troisième mode d'exécution de l'invention se distingue du premier ou du deuxième mode en ce que les trois guides de propagation 301, 302 et 303 sont des câbles coaxiaux qui s'étendent suivant une direction longitudinale de propagation L1, L2 et L3 perpendiculaire aux plaques 71, 72 et 73 et qui débouchent dans l'applicateur par une de leur extrémité dénudée 81, 82 et 83. Les trois guides de propagation 301, 302 et 303 sont disposés de façon symétrique par rapport à l'axe de symétrie ternaire Δ du trièdre. Les vecteurs du champ électrique, orientés parallèlement aux câbles 301, 302 sont orthogonaux l'un à l'autre. Cet agencement permet là encore aux trois générateurs d'alimenter l'applicateur en étant découplés les uns des autres.
  • En référence à la figure 6, un quatrième mode d'exécution de l'invention se distingue du troisième mode en ce que les trois guides de propagation 401, 402 et 403 sont des câbles coaxiaux terminés par des boucles de courant 411, 412 et 413. Les trois guides de propagation 401, 402 et 403 s'étendent suivant une direction longitudinale de propagation L1, L2 et L3 perpendiculaire aux plaques 71, 72 et 73 et débouchent dans l'applicateur par une boucle de courant 411, 412 et 413 dont une extrémité dénudée 421, 422 et 423 est fixée à la plaque correspondante du trièdre tri-rectangulaire. Les trois guides de propagation 401, 402 et 403 sont disposés de façon symétrique par rapport à l'axe de symétrie ternaire Δ du trièdre. Les vecteurs du champ magnétique induit par les boucles de courant sont orientés suivant l'axe A perpendiculaire au plan de chaque boucle de courant pour rester orthogonaux l'un à l'autre. Cet agencement permet là encore aux trois générateurs d'alimenter l'applicateur en étant découplés les uns des autres.
  • D'une façon avantageuse pour chacun des modes d'exécution précédents, les guides de propagation 101-103, 201-203 ou 301-303 occupent une position variable suivant une rotation autour de leur direction longitudinale de propagation et une translation parallèlement aux plaques 71-73 sur lesquelles ils sont montés tout en conversant la symétrie par rapport à l'axe de symétrie ternaire Δ du trièdre tri-rectangulaire repéré OX,OY,OZ pour régler le découplage des générateurs en fonction de la forme de l'objet reçu dans l'applicateur 1.
  • Comme illustré par les figures 8A et 8B, un guide de propagation 101 est monté amovible par l'intermédiaire d'une bride circulaire 801 soudée au guide de propagation. La bride 801 comprend douze trous lisses disposés régulièrement sur un cercle pour être fixée par des boulons à une plaque intermédiaire 501 comportant douze trous correspondants. La plaque intermédiaire comprend également quatre lumières 601 recevant des boulons pour être fixée à son tour à la plaque 71 du trièdre tri-rectangulaire. Les douze trous de la plaque intermédiaire 501 et de la bride 801 permettent au guide de propagation 101 d'occuper une position variable en rotation autour de la direction de propagation L1 du guide, le pas de rotation étant déterminé par l'écart angulaire entre deux trous successifs. Les lumières 601 s'étendent parallèlement à la plaque 71 du trièdre tri-rectangulaire pour permettre au guide de propagation 101 d'occuper une position variable également en translation par rapport à la plaque 71. La position des trois guides est ainsi variable en rotation et en translation, tout en conversant la symétrie de position des trois guides par rapport à l'axe de symétrie ternaire (Δ) du trièdre. Il convient de noter que la direction des lumières 601 dépend de façon générale de la position des plaques 501 par rapport aux faces 71-73 du trièdre tri-rectangulaire.
  • Il est possible de définir un coefficient de réflexion complexe R et un coefficient de transmission complexe T entre les générateurs alimentant l'applicateur. En référence à la figure 7, les coefficients R et T sont des fonctions des coordonnées x1,y1 ou y2,z2 ou z3,x3 du centre de la section de chaque guide, respectivement 101, 102 ou 103, qui débouche dans l'applicateur, de l'angle θ1 ou θ2, θ3 que fait le champ électrique dans le plan du trièdre tri-rectangulaire sur la face duquel le guide de propagation, respectivement 101, 102 ou 103, est disposé et de la distance de l'objet à traiter au sommet O du trièdre. La transmission entre les guides de propagation est annulée en choisissant convenablement les trois grandeurs indiquées ci-dessus pour rétablir le découplage des trois générateurs. Un adaptateur connu en soi et disposé dans le guide de propagation considéré permet par ailleurs d'annuler le coefficient de réflexion complexe R vu par chaque générateur.
  • Le découplage des trois générateurs est quantifié par la mesure du coefficient complexe T avec un analyseur de réseau du commerce. Le découplage est acceptable quand le module du coefficient de transfert T est inférieur à 0,1 de sorte que seulement 10% de la puissance émise par un générateur est reçue par un autre. Si le coefficient de transfert T est supérieur à 0,1 les générateurs risquent de se détruire les uns les autres et le rendement énergétique de l'applicateur est mauvais, le rendement η de chaque générateur étant défini par la puissance délivrée au produit rapportée à la puissance émise et valant η = 1 -R2 - 2T2. On mesure le coefficient de réflexion R à également l'aide d'un analyseur de réseau.
  • Dans le premier, le deuxième ou le troisième mode d'exécution, l'applicateur 1 est de section circulaire ou triangulaire.
  • Il convient de noter que la distribution du champ électromagnétique dans l'objet à traiter est déterminée par le fait qu'un applicateur dont la section est un triangle équilatéral a trois modes fondamentaux de propagation transverses électriques qui ont une même longueur d'onde de coupure λc= 1.5 a. Le mode de propagation d'ordre supérieur immédiat est un mode TM λ c = ( a 3 ) / 2

    et le mode TE suivant a pour λc=a/2. Le trièdre tri-rectangulaire, par sa symétrie excite les trois modes fondamentaux. Comme ces modes sont orthogonaux, il n'y a pas de couplage entre les modes crées d'une part et les guides qui les excitent, d'autre part. Le découplage des guides subsiste si l'applicateur triangulaire devient circulaire.
  • Trois exemples d'application de l'invention sont décrits ci-après.
  • Dans un premier exemple, l'applicateur est un réacteur de déshydratation d'un gaz comprenant une colonne de zéolithes parcourue par un gaz humide. Au cours de la phase d'adsorption, l'eau du gaz est adsorbée par les zéolithes. Lorsque les zéolithes ont retenu une quantité d'eau correspondant en général à 30% de leur poids, on purge la colonne en l'irradiant par le dispositif à micro-ondes pour désorber l'eau.
  • Le réacteur est cylindrique de section circulaire, par exemple de diamètre égal à 30 cm. En référence à la figure 1, on utilise un dispositif à micro-ondes selon le premier mode d'exécution de l'invention : trois guides de propagation 101, 102 et 103 de section rectangulaire sont montés respectivement sur les trois faces 71, 72 et 73 du trièdre tri-rectangulaire OX,OY,OZ pour que les petits côtés 91, 92 et 93 de leur section rectangulaire restent deux à deux orthogonaux. Le trièdre est disposé au-dessus du réacteur en alignant l'axe de symétrie ternaire Δ avec l'axe central du réacteur.
  • Si les fenêtres transparentes des guides de propagation sont proches du sommet O du trièdre, la surface de l'adsorbant est irradiée selon la courbe 1 de la figure 9. Le champ électromagnétique a la symétrie circulaire avec un maximum au centre de la section et un minimum au voisinage de la paroi du réacteur. Si on éloigne les fenêtres transparentes des guides de propagation par rapport au sommet O du trièdre, la distribution du champ électromagnétique prend l'allure de la courbe 2. On voit que pour le plan diamétral qui passe par un générateur, le maximum est décalé vers l'ouverture du générateur considéré. Le découplage des trois générateurs permettant que les distributions du champ électromagnétique de chaque générateur s'additionnent en fonction des carrés des modules des champs électriques engendre une distribution totale plus uniforme.
  • Il faut noter que le dispositif à micro-ondes est d'autant plus intéressant à utiliser que l'énergie apportée sert essentiellement à désorber l'eau sans chauffer les zéolithes, ce qui évite de refroidir la colonne avant de la réutiliser pour la phase d'adsorption.
  • Cet exemple montre qu'en éloignant ou en rapprochant les trois générateurs du sommet O du trièdre, on modifie la distribution du champ électromagnétique rayonné dans une section de l'applicateur, sans pour autant accepter que les générateurs débitent les uns dans les autres. Il s'ensuit qu'on peut ainsi ajuster à la demande la distribution globale de l'énergie rayonnée dans le sens de l'axe de symétrie ternaire du trièdre et autour de celui-ci.
  • L'utilisation du dispositif à micro-ondes selon l'invention n'est pas limitée à la déshydratation des zéolithes mais convient également à toute opération physico-chimique ou catalytique, telle évaporation stimulée par micro-ondes d'un solvant contenu dans un produit ou une essence.
  • Dans un deuxième exemple, l'applicateur est un réacteur pour brûler les composants gazeux toxiques de l'air et dépolluer l'air en faisant parcourir le gaz dans une colonne remplie d'un catalyseur, par exemple des granulés d'alumine ou de silice sur lesquels on a déposé des métaux, par exemple 0,8% de platine en poids ou du carbure de silicium. L'applicateur comprend une colonne ayant un diamètre de 1,5 mètre et une hauteur de 2 mètres. Il est alimenté par trois générateurs de 10 kW, fonctionnant en continu à 915 MHz. Il convient de signaler que l'air à traiter peut ne circuler qu'au centre de la colonne puisque le voisinage de la paroi de la colonne, correspondant aux parties hachurées sur la figure 9, voit un champ électrique de faible intensité.
  • Dans un troisième exemple, l'applicateur est un four de verrier.
  • Les artisans verriers souhaitent souvent conserver plusieurs fonds de verre de différentes couleurs ou de différentes qualités et en disposer quand ils le veulent.
  • Le four de la figure 10 comprend un creuset cylindrique 111 de section circulaire, en silice alumine réfractaire, monté pivotant sur un support métallique 110. Il peut contenir plusieurs litres de verre en fusion 113. Le chauffage est obtenu par un dispositif à micro-ondes selon le premier mode d'exécution de l'invention. Le trièdre tri-rectangulaire est disposé au-dessus de l'applicateur en alignant l'axe de symétrie ternaire Δ avec l'axe central A du creuset. Les trois générateurs domestiques débitent chacun une puissance de 1,2 kW de sorte que la puissance totale d'irradiation est de 3,6 kW. Le trièdre tri-rectangulaire OX,OY,OZ muni des trois guides de propagation 101, 102 et 103 bascule autour d'une charnière 114 pour permettre l'accès creuset au lorsque le verrier vient cueillir du verre en fusion. Il est évident que les générateurs sont éteints lorsque le four est ouvert.
  • La puissance émise par les magnétrons peut être réglée finement de sorte que l'exploitation du four est très économique. On le met rapidement en fonctionnement, on peut changer les creusets qui contiennent différentes couleurs et les stocker séparément.
  • Il convient de noter qu'un dispositif à micro-ondes selon l'invention, premier ou deuxième mode d'exécution, fonctionne par exemple à la fréquence de 915 MHz ou de 2450 MHz. Un dispositif à radio-fréquences, troisième ou quatrième mode d'exécution, fonctionne par exemple à la fréquence de 13,56 MHz ou de 27,12 MHz.

Claims (11)

  1. Dispositif à micro-ondes ou à radio-fréquences comprenant un applicateur (1,111) destiné à recevoir un objet à traiter (3,113) et plusieurs générateurs alimentant l'applicateur par l'intermédiaire de guides de propagation, caractérisé en ce que trois guides de propagation (101-103,201-203,301-303,401-403) propageant les micro-ondes ou les radio-fréquences générées respectivement par trois générateurs sont montés respectivement sur trois plaques (71-73) formant un trièdre tri-rectangulaire (OX,OY,OZ) et sont disposés de façon symétrique par rapport à un axe de symétrie ternaire (Δ) du trièdre pour que les générateurs alimentent l'applicateur en étant découplés les uns des autres.
  2. Dispositif selon la revendication 1, caractérisé en ce que les trois guides de propagation (101-103,201-203) sont de section rectangulaire et montés respectivement sur les trois plaques pour que les petits côtés (91-93) de leur section rectangulaire restent deux à deux orthogonaux.
  3. Dispositif selon la revendication 2, caractérisé en ce que chaque guide de propagation (101-103) s'étend suivant une direction longitudinale de propagation (L1-L3) perpendiculaire à la plaque sur laquelle il est monté.
  4. Dispositif selon la revendication 2, caractérisé en ce que chaque guide de propagation (201-203) s'étend suivant une direction longitudinale de propagation (ℓ1-ℓ3) parallèle à la plaque sur laquelle il est monté.
  5. Dispositif selon la revendication 3 ou 4, caractérisé en ce que les trois guides de propagation débouchent dans l'applicateur par des fenêtres (41-43) transparentes aux micro-ondes formées à une extrémité de chaque guide de propagation.
  6. Dispositif selon la revendication 3 ou 4, caractérisé en ce que les trois guides de propagation débouchent dans l'applicateur par des fentes (51-53,51A-53A,51B-53B) formées dans un côté (91-93,21A-23A,21B-23B) de chaque guide de propagation.
  7. Dispositif selon la revendication 1, caractérisé en ce que les trois guides de propagation (301-303) sont des câbles coaxiaux qui s'étendent suivant une direction longitudinale (L1-L3) de propagation perpendiculaire aux plaques (71-73) et qui débouchent dans l'applicateur par une boucle de courant (411-413).
  8. Dispositif selon la revendication 1, caractérisé en ce que les trois guides de propagation (401-403) sont des câbles coaxiaux qui s'étendent suivant une direction longitudinale (L1-L3) de propagation perpendiculaire aux plaques (71-73) et qui débouchent dans l'applicateur par une de leur extrémité dénudée (81-83)
  9. Dispositif selon la revendication 1, caractérisé en ce que les guides de propagation occupent une position variable suivant une rotation autour de leur direction longitudinale de propagation (L1-L3,ℓ1-ℓ3) et suivant une translation parallèlement aux plaques (71-73) sur lesquelles ils sont montés tout en conservant la symétrie par rapport à l'axe de symétrie ternaire (Δ) du trièdre (OX,OY,OZ) pour régler le découplage des générateurs en fonction de la forme de l'objet reçu (3) dans l'applicateur (1).
  10. Dispositif selon la revendication 1, caractérisé en ce que l'applicateur (1) est de section circulaire ou triangulaire.
  11. Dispositif selon la revendication 1, caractérisé en ce que l'applicateur est un réacteur chimique ou un four de verrier (111).
