Definitions
- the invention is based on a fuel injection valve for internal combustion engines, as it corresponds to the preamble of claim 1.
- a fuel injection valve for example from WO 02/42637 and comprises a housing in which an outer and an inner valve seat are formed. At least one inner or outer injection opening, which opens into the combustion chamber of the internal combustion engines, extends from both valve seats.
- a hollow valve needle is arranged in the fuel injection valve and cooperates with the outer valve seat to control the outer injection openings.
- there is a valve needle arranged in the hollow valve needle which cooperates with its inner valve sealing surface with the inner valve seat and thereby controls the inner injection openings.
- the outer valve seat and the inner valve seat are formed on a common conical surface and consequently have the same opening angle.
- the hydraulic opening force and its course largely depend on the point in time and the pressure at which the respective valve sealing surfaces are acted upon by the fuel that flows into the injection openings. What pressure the
- valve sealing surface at which stroke the valve needle is exposed depends essentially on the opening angle of the valve sealing surface. If, as in the known fuel injection valve, both valve seats are formed on a common conical surface, this design parameter can only be changed together for the hollow valve needle and the valve needle. This makes an optimal design difficult and thus a targeted adjustment of the opening dynamics.
- the fuel injection valve according to the invention with the characterizing features of claim 1 has the advantage that the opening dynamics of the valve needles and the inlet conditions at the respective injection openings can be optimized independently of one another.
- the valve seats are manufactured with different opening angles, the opening angles being optimized with regard to the desired properties on the hollow valve needle or the valve needle.
- An opening angle of 55 ° to 65 ° on the inner valve seat has proven to be advantageous if, at the same time, the opening angle of the outer valve seat is greater than this value.
- the opposite can also be done, ie at the outer valve seat
- FIG. 1 shows a fuel injection valve in longitudinal section
- FIG. 2 shows an enlarged illustration in the region of the valve seat of a first exemplary embodiment
- FIG. 3 shows another exemplary embodiment in the same illustration as FIG. 2.
- FIG. 1 shows a fuel injection valve of the type according to the invention in longitudinal section.
- a bore 3 is formed in a valve body 1 and is delimited at its combustion chamber end by a valve seat 7.
- the valve seat 7 is divided into an outer valve seat 107 and an inner valve seat 207, both of which have a conical shape.
- At least one outer injection opening 10 extends from the outer valve seat 107 and at least one inner injection opening 12 extends from the inner valve seat 207, all of which open into the combustion chamber when the fuel injection valve is in the installed position.
- a hollow valve needle 15 is arranged in the bore 3 and has at its end on the valve seat side an outer valve sealing surface 32 with which it cooperates with the outer valve seat 107.
- FIG. 2 shows an enlarged illustration of FIG. 1 in the area of the valve seat 7, only one half being drawn here due to the given rotational symmetry with respect to the longitudinal axis 8 of the bore 3.
- the hollow valve needle 15 is sealingly guided in a section away from the valve seat in the bore 3 and tapers towards the valve seat 7 to form a pressure shoulder 18. Between the guided section of the hollow valve needle 15 and the valve seat 7 is between the hollow valve needle
- a pressure chamber 5 is formed, which is radially expanded at the level of the pressure shoulder 18.
- an inlet channel runs in the valve body 1 and is not shown in the drawing, via which the pressure chamber 5 can be filled with fuel under high pressure.
- a valve needle 17 is arranged in the hollow valve needle 15, said valve needle being longitudinally displaceable and cooperating with an inner valve sealing surface 32 with the inner valve seat 207.
- the valve needle 17 has a first guide section 20 and a second filling section 22 with which it is guided in the valve hollow needle 15. An undercut is formed between these guide sections 20, 22, so that pinching of the valve needle 17 in the hollow valve needle 15 is prevented.
- Both the valve needle 17 and the hollow valve needle 15 are acted upon at their end remote from the valve seat by a closing force which is generated by a device not shown in the drawing.
- Such devices which are well known from the prior art, can be, for example, springs or control rooms that generate the closing force hydraulically.
- the control of the hollow valve needle 15 and the valve needle 17 is done by Ratio of the closing forces to the hydraulic opening forces which act on the pressure shoulder 18 of the hollow valve needle 15 and on a pressure shoulder 26 on the valve needle 17. If the closing force on the hollow valve needle 15 falls below the opening forces acting on it, it lifts from the outer valve seat 107 and thus connects the pressure chamber 5 to the outer injection openings 10. The fuel which is present in the pressure chamber 5 under high pressure then flows between the outer Valve sealing surface 32 and the outer valve seat 107 and is injected into the combustion chamber through the outer injection openings 10. After lifting the hollow valve needle 15 from the valve seat 7, the pressure shoulder 26 of the valve needle 17 is acted upon by the fuel, so that a corresponding hydraulic opening force on the valve needle 17 results. Depending on the closing force on the valve needle 17, this either also lifts off the inner valve seat 207 and, in the same way as the valve hollow needle 15, releases the inner injection openings 12 or it remains in its closed position. To this
- the fuel can thus be injected into the combustion chamber either only through the outer injection openings 10 or through all injection openings 10, 12, so that a variable injection cross section is provided.
- the area of the valve seat 7 is shown enlarged in FIG.
- the outer valve seat 107 and the inner valve seat 207 are each designed as conical surfaces.
- the outer valve seat 107 has an opening angle a and the inner valve seat 207 has an opening angle b, with the half angles a1, b / 2 being shown on the basis of the illustration.
- the opening angles of the valve seats 107, 207 are designed differently, for example in order to optimize the inflow conditions of the fuel into the injection openings 10, 12. After opening the hollow valve needle 15, that is to say after lifting it off the outer valve seat 107, the fuel, driven by the high pressure in the pressure chamber 5, begins to flow at high speed in the direction of the outer injection openings 10.
- the fuel When entering the outer injection openings 10, the fuel has to undergo a change in direction, which essentially depends on the opening angle a.
- the opening angle b of the inner valve seat 207 likewise influences the inflow conditions into the inner injection openings 12. Since the inner and the outer injection openings 10, 12 often have different diameters or include different angles with the longitudinal axis 8. By different opening angles of the outer valve seat 107 and the inner valve seat 207, these inflow conditions can be adapted specifically to the respective injection openings 10, 12.
- the opening dynamics of the hollow valve needle 10 and the valve needle 12 can be adjusted via the opening angle of the valve seats 107, 207: after lifting off the valve seat 107, 207, the valve sealing surfaces 30, 32 are also acted upon by the fuel pressure and bring about an additional opening force which the dynamics of the opening movement largely determines. How high this opening force is depends in particular on the opening angle a, b of the valve seats 107, 207, so that the opening dynamics can also be optimized via the opening angle of the valve seats 107, 207.
- FIG. 3 shows a further exemplary embodiment in the same representation as FIG. 2. It corresponds in all essential features to the exemplary embodiment in FIG. 2, but here the opening angle a of the outer valve seat 107 is smaller than the opening angle b of the inner valve seat
- Preferred sizes for the opening angles are 85 ° to 95 °, preferably about 90 °, for the larger opening angles, ie opening angle a in FIG. 2 and opening angle b in FIG. 3.
- the smaller opening angles are 55 ° to 65 °, preferably about 60 °.
