  • the first undercoat optionally comprises a composition selected from the group consisting of varnishes, offset varnishes, dry offset varnishes, shellacs, latexes, and polymers.
  • the term "undercoat” refers to a coating disposed underneath a reflective or non-reflective element and on top of a supporting substrate. If the first region comprises a first undercoat, the first reflective element (in those aspects in which the first element is reflective), which is disposed on the first undercoat of the first region, exhibits enhanced reflectivity relative to the reflectivity of the first reflective element in the absence of the first undercoat. The presence of the undercoat may also facilitate adhesion and durability of the first reflective or non-reflective element.
  • the step of forming the reflective or non-reflective element comprises depositing a second ink onto the second surface and treating the deposited second ink under conditions effective to form the reflective or non-reflective element.

Claims (13)

  1. Ein reflektierendes Sicherheitsmerkmal, enthaltend: (a) ein Substrat mit einem ersten Bereich und einem zweiten Bereich; der erste und zweite Bereich mit verschiedenen Oberflächeneigenschaften; (b) einem ersten gedruckten Element angeordnet auf dem ersten Bereich; und (c) einem zweiten gedruckten Element angeordnet auf dem zweiten Bereich, worin das erste gedruckte Element und das zweite gedruckte Element ein kontinuierliches oder nicht kontinuierliches graphisches Merkmal bilden, das sich mindestens über einen Teil des ersten Bereichs und mindestens über einen Teil des zweiten Bereichs erstreckt, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass mindestens eines von dem ersten und dem zweiten gedruckten Elementen metallische Nanopartikel enthält.
  2. Das Sicherheitsmerkmal gemäß Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass das erste gedruckte Element und das zweite gedruckte Element ein kontinuierliches graphisches Merkmal bilden, dass sich mindestens über einen Teil des ersten Bereichs und mindestens über einen Teil des zweiten Bereichs erstreckt.
  3. Das Sicherheitsmerkmal gemäß Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass das erste gedruckte Element und das zweite gedruckte Element ein nicht kontinuierliches graphisches Merkmal bilden, dass sich mindestens über einen Teil des ersten Bereichs und mindestens über einen Teil des zweiten Bereichs erstreckt.
  4. Das Sicherheitsmerkmal gemäß Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass das zweite gedruckte Element mehr als das erste gedruckte Element an dem zweiten Bereich anhaftend ist.
  5. Das Sicherheitsmerkmal gemäß Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass das erste gedruckte Element ausschließlich auf dem ersten Bereich angeordnet ist.
  6. Das Sicherheitsmerkmal gemäß Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass mindestens einer des ersten Bereichs und des zweiten Bereichs reflektierend ist.
  7. Das Sicherheitsmerkmal gemäß Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass der erste Bereich eine Zusammensetzung ausgewählt aus der aus Folie, Film, UV-beschichtetem Lack, Papier, beschichtetem Papier, Polymer und bedrucktem Papier bestehenden Gruppe ist.
  8. Das Sicherheitsmerkmal gemäß Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass der zweite Bereich eine Zusammensetzung ausgewählt aus der aus Folie, Film, UV-beschichtetem Lack, Papier, beschichtetem Papier, und bedrucktem Papier bestehenden Gruppe ist.
  9. Das Sicherheitsmerkmal gemäß Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass mindestens eines des ersten gedruckten Elements oder des zweiten gedruckten Elements variable Information enthält.
  10. Das Sicherheitsmerkmal gemäß Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass das Substrat aus der aus einer Banknote, einem Markenauthentifizierungskennzeichen, einer Steuermarke, einem Identitätsdokument, einer Alkoholflasche und einem Tabakprodukt bestehenden Gruppe ausgewählt ist.
  11. Das Sicherheitsmerkmal gemäß Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass der erste Bereich poröser ist als der zweite Bereich.
  12. Das Sicherheitsmerkmal gemäß Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass der erste Bereich hydrophober ist als der zweite Bereich.
  13. Das Sicherheitsmerkmal gemäß Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die metallischen Nanopartikel aus nur einem Metall, nur einer Mischung von Metallen oder nur einer Legierung von Metallen besteht.
