Definitions
- the invention relates to a media supply plate for a fuel cell stack, with at least one anode gas connection and with at least one cathode gas connection.
- the invention relates to a fuel cell system and a method for its production.
- the fuel cell stack is often stacked in its manufacture position on a base plate to ensure stability in the production process.
- the system provided for operating the fuel cell stack must be made so stable in itself that it can accommodate the fuel cell stack. This often results in the fuel cell stack being divided into two basic plates, its own base plate and a so-called fuel cell adapter plate of the system. This leads to a high weight and high costs.
- the invention has for its object to enable easy integration of the fuel cell stack in the systems provided for their operation.
- the media supply plate according to the invention builds on the generic state of the art in that it furthermore has at least one anode exhaust gas connection and at least one cathode exhaust gas connection.
- a media supply plate has all the connections that are required for the supply and removal of the operating gases, preferably in the form of a defined interface, which may include, for example, a flange connection with attached pipes and which can be easily used by the respective operator of the system.
- the media supply may in particular be designed so that the fuel cell stack can be stacked and joined directly on the media supply plate during its production, so that it is no longer necessary to provide two base plates.
- a further advantage results from the fact that the interface provided for the supply and removal of the operating gases is independent of the respective height of the fuel cell stack.
- the ports communicate with gas channels, each of which opens into at least one opening provided on an upper surface of the media supply plate.
- all ports are in communication with at least one opening in the top of the media supply plate.
- the openings provided for the anode gas supply can be aligned during the production of the fuel cell stack with gas channels that are formed within the fuel cell stack in its stacking direction.
- Opening is provided.
- a groove may, for example, be provided adjacent to the opening provided for supplying the cooler compared to the operating temperature of the fuel cell stack cathode air is.
- the groove serves to increase the thermal resistance between the cathode air supply region and the active region of the fuel cell stack, so that as little heat as possible is transferred into the cathode air supply region.
- at least one groove can similarly be provided, so that as little heat as possible is transferred into the cathode air discharge region.
- the media supply plate according to the invention comprises an upper plate having the openings and a lower plate at least co-forming the gas channels.
- the upper plate may serve as a base plate for stacking the fuel cell stack and the lower plate may be a built-under sheet metal part, which forms the gas channels by appropriate shaping, preferably in cooperation with the upper plate.
- the media supply plate can also be provided that it has at least one opening, which is provided for performing at least one fuel cell stack clamping element.
- the fuel cell stack clamping element can be, for example, a steel strip whose one end section is fastened to the media supply plate and which wraps around the fuel cell stack and optionally a cap fitted onto it so that the other end section of the steel strip passes through the opening can be biased.
- This tension can already be made during the production of the fuel cell stack, that is to say during the joining, and then maintained over the service life of the fuel cell stack.
- a common prior art omitted temporary tension, which is replaced by the integration of the fuel cell stack in the system provided for its operation by a final tension.
- the fuel cell system according to the invention is characterized in that it comprises a media supply plate of the type described above and a fuel cell stack stacked directly on the media supply plate.
- a media supply plate of the type described above for example, reflowing glass solder may be used in joining the fuel cell stack without precluding the additional or alternative use of other sealing elements. Since the media supply plate in this case serves both as a base plate of the fuel cell stack and as a system adapter plate, the time-consuming use of two separate base plates is no longer required.
- the fuel cell stack comprises a plurality of identically constructed repeating units.
- Such repeating units are known per se and can comprise, for example, a bipolar plate and an MEA (Membrane Electrode Assembly) and optionally further sealing and / or gas distribution devices.
- MEA Membrane Electrode Assembly
- the fuel cell stack comprises at least two gas passages extending in the stacking direction of the fuel cell stack, each of which is in communication with at least one opening.
- both gas channels may in particular be an anode gas and an anode exhaust gas channel.
- the fuel cell stack is stacked on the media supply plate such that at least two openings are located next to the fuel cell stack.
- This solution is particularly useful if it is a fuel cell stack with open cathode.
- the fuel cell stack is arranged under a first hood, wherein the two adjacent to the fuel cell stack openings open into the space under the first hood.
- This first hood can be made, for example, from a ceramic, which also serves to ensure the electrical insulation of the fuel cell stack.
- the space under the first hood of the fuel cell stack is divided into a first space and into a second space, wherein one opening of the fuel cell stack adjacent openings opens into the first space, while the other opening adjacent to the fuel cell stack lying openings in the second room opens.
- the Kathodenzu poverty- and Kathodenabuftuft- are separated from each other so that the supply of the cathode air provided can not flow past the fuel cell stack, but this must actually penetrate.
- the fuel cell stack has a cathode gas interface opening into the first space and a cathode exhaust gas interface opening into the second space.
- the use of fuel cell Lenstapeln with open cathode is classified as particularly advantageous, the invention is not limited thereto. Rather, it is also possible to provide further gas channels in the fuel cell stack, via which the cathode air is supplied or removed.
- Gas channels are then also preferably aligned with openings in the top of the media supply plate.
- a particularly preferred embodiment of the inventive fuel cell system is characterized in that a fuel cell stack clamping device is provided which braces at least the fuel cell stack and the media supply plate in the stacking direction. It is considered to be particularly advantageous if the fuel cell stack clamping device ensures the required tension both during the production of the fuel cell stack and during its operation, so that a temporary clamping provided exclusively for the production and optionally transport of the fuel cell stack is eliminated can.
- the fuel cell stack clamping device comprises a belt-like fuel cell stack clamping element, which wraps around at least the fuel cell stack.
- This band may be, for example, a steel band, or any other band that can withstand the temperatures encountered during operation of the fuel cell system. Without being limited to this, flat strips are particularly preferred.
- embodiments are considered to be advantageous, in which it is provided that the band-like fuel cell stack clamping element with the aid of at least one fe the elastic element is kept under tension.
- a resilient element is for example a coil spring into consideration, wherein it is advantageous regardless of the specific configuration of the resilient element, if this element in turn can be biased different degrees. For example, during the production of the fuel cell stack, a different tension can be optimal than during its regular operation.
- the fuel cell stack is arranged under a second hood.
- the second hood which may for example be made of a metal, be supplemented by a corresponding base plate, so that there is a metal shell. That way is one
- Encapsulation of the module possible which may serve, for example, to obstruct the possibly emerging from the fuel cell stack reformate the way out of the system and force this exiting reformate, for example, in the cathode exhaust duct.
- the fuel cell stack is surrounded by insulating material. If a second hood (or a complete shell) is provided, this is preferably provided between a first hood and the insulation. Theoretically, it is of course also possible to provide the second hood or sheath outside of the insulation.
- the method according to the invention for producing a fuel cell system comprises the following steps: Stacking a fuel cell stack on a media supply plate, in particular according to one of claims 1 to 5;
- a chuck configured to clamp the fuel cell stack and the media supply plate in the stacking direction of the fuel cell stack.
- the step of heating comprises an introduction and removal of at least one hot gas via at least two connections.
- the hot gases for heating the fuel cell stack via both the anode and cathode paths.
- air may be passed over the cathode, and at a certain temperature below the ignition temperature of hydrogen, a hydrogen / water / nitrogen mixture may be passed over the anode.
- This temperature could be, for example, at 400 0 C to 500 0 C.
- a final tensioning of the fuel cell stack takes place in its still hot state from the joining with the aid of the fuel cell stack clamping device. In the simplest case, the final tension can already be ensured by simply maintaining the tension that is used to join the fuel cell stack.
- the invention enables a simple integration of the fuel cell stack into a system, since the insulation, and the tension are preferably already present. Thus, an additional transport tension usually accounts for.
- the system interfaces can be defined variably according to customer requirements and a (subsequently) seal to be provided between the fuel cell stack and the system can be dispensed with, resulting in a lower safety risk.
- Using a single, common baseplate results in lower weight, lower cost, and shorter startup time.
- the use of a metal housing (second hood) can ensure that no reformate undesirably overflows into the system, even if anode leakage occurs.
- Heat losses by passing heat from the fuel cell stack into the media supply plate may be at least reduced by the provision of one or more grooves in the media supply plate, as such grooves impede heat conduction.
