Definitions

  • the invention relates to a method for producing a molybdenum foil for lamp construction according to the preamble of patent claim 1.
  • molybdenum foils can be embedded gas-tight in quartz glass vessels and therefore serve as a component of power supply lines for light sources, which are enclosed in a gastight manner by lamp vessels made of quartz glass.
  • This use of molybdenum foils is, for molybdenum foils having a thickness of less than 20 micrometers, for example in the German patent specification DE 573 448 and for thicker molybdenum foils, for example in the British patent specification GB 474 982 described.
  • the term molybdenum foil refers in the following and in the sense of the invention described below to metal foils based on molybdenum, which consist essentially of molybdenum.
  • molybdenum foil includes metal foils consisting of molybdenum or doped molybdenum, wherein the weight fraction of the additives or dopants is significantly less than the weight fraction of molybdenum in the metal foil.
  • molybdenum foil also includes a metal foil consisting of molybdenum admixed with about 1 weight percent of yttria or yttrium-cerium mixed oxide.
  • the patent US 4,587,454 discloses a method for producing a molybdenum foil for lamp construction, according to which the surface of the molybdenum foil is roughened by sandblasting to thereby prevent cracks or cracks in the quartz glass of the lamp vessel surrounding the molybdenum foil.
  • the publication EP 1 156 505 A1 describes a molybdenum foil for use as a component of current feedthroughs through lamp vessels, wherein the molybdenum foil has substantially discontinuous, island-like regions of substance agglomerates with surface morphology or material composition of molybdenum or of its alloys that differ from 5 to 60 area percent of its surface, of titanium, silicon or an oxide, a mixed oxide or or and an oxidic compound having a vapor pressure of less than 10 millibars at 2000 ° C.
