Definitions

  • the invention relates to an installation intended to allow the automatic realization, that is to say in the absence of any intervention of an operator or a user, of an album, in particular a photographic album, consisting of a plurality sheets joined together and articulated together at one of their edges, so as to constitute a binding.
  • the primary objective of the present invention is to enable a user to print, by means of a thermal printer, the different shots made by digital photography and immediately make a corresponding photographic album.
  • this device is a significant advance for the production of photo album including digital photos, however it faces the following drawbacks.
  • the album after completion must be recovered by an operator on the board and then subjected to the action of a cutter for cleanliness, the various sheets experiencing slight misalignment in terms of positioning during compilation . This prevents the automatic production of several albums continuously without the intervention of an operator
  • the sizing unit implemented, certainly retractable out of said device thus described, is relatively difficult to handle because of its design.
  • this device is relatively bulky and heavy, constituting an obstacle for some potential users.
  • EP-A2-1 886 831 also shows the state of the art.
  • the aim of the present invention is to propose a completely automatic installation for the production of such an album, insofar as first of all, the prints printed for example by a thermal printer, are immediately taken care of by the printer. installation proper, without any intervention of any operator or the user, and in that, said installation comprises an integrated paper cutter and an ejection unit of the album after production and cutting.
  • the cover sheet reversal unit comprises a substantially curvilinear arm, articulated on the frame of the installation, intended to move between at least two extreme positions, respectively a lower or lower position, adapted to receive the upstream portion of the cover sheet, and an upper or upper position, intended to induce in particular the flap of the upstream portion of the cover sheet on the other intermediate sheets.
  • This articulated arm is moved between these two extreme positions by means of a motorized cam, and is provided at its end opposite its axis of articulation of a roller mounted idler in rotation, adapted to cooperate with part of the rollers ensuring progress of leaflets within the facility.
  • the installation is provided with an integrated cutter, intended to ensure the free cutting of the free edges of the constituent sheets of the album after completion thereof, said album being conveyed at the operational zone of said cutter by the reception tray. In doing so, one gains safety because of the absence of any dangerous manipulation.
  • the installation is also advantageously provided with an ejection member, ensuring the ejection of the album after finishing by the cutter at a tray or receptacle, at which it can be recovered the user.
  • the creasing unit consists of a punch and a die, between which the sheets can be passed one by one, except during the actual creasing step, said punch being mounted to the end of an articulated arm and driven by a cam, directly actuated by the motor axis, the matrix being in turn provided with a removable bottom adapted to promote the ejection of the fold of the sheet made in her breast following the action of the punch and avoid hanging said sheet against the edge of the die.
  • the gluing unit also comprises a handle connected to said lever, and intended to allow the retraction, at least partially of the active gluing elements, to enable the glue loading and maintenance operations to be carried out related to this unit.
  • said plate is mounted on guide rails that can vary in height, and mounted for this purpose on cross members articulated on the frame of the installation so as to maintain substantially constant altitude of the upper sheet of the album being formed, regardless of the number of sheets that constitute it, said rails being provided for this purpose with an elastic return member secured to the frame, inducing the return of the plate against stops constituted by at least one pressure roller .
  • a thermal printer 3 for example of the 8 inch x 12 inch format marketed under the name SHINKO SHS- 1245 for printing photographs obtained by digital photography, said images being assembled by an album composition software or any other software, said printer being connected to a PC (not shown), and in an underlying way to the printer 3, a functional unit 4, able to ensure the actual realization of an album in this case digital photographs.
  • the thermal printer 3 is replaced by a unstacker (better known by the English expression “ stacker "), that is to say a stack of previously made clichés, or by any other type of printer, especially ink jet.
  • This assembly is accessible through a door 2 hinged to the frame 1, thus ensuring the maintenance of the installation and more particularly, and advantageously simultaneously change the consumable of the printer 3 and the consumable of the unit. sizing, as described in more detail later. In addition to the compactness of the installation, the ease of maintenance of such an installation is already conceivable.
  • the functional unit 4 comprises a number of rollers providing different functions, including progress sheets from the printer 3, but also against reaction (especially during the bonding phase) and pressure rollers to ensure cohesion and maintaining the album itself.
  • rollers 11, 15, 17, 19, 26, and 30 are all motorized, and actuated by means of a toothed belt 39 rotated by an electric motor 31 .
  • the installation also comprises, as already said, pressure rollers respectively 28, 32 and 33 , mounted idle in rotation, and intended to exert pressure on the album being formed, as described in more detail later.
  • rollers 10, 14, 16, 20, 25, 29 shown in the figures 3 and 4 are mounted crazy in rotation, or simply mesh with the roller on which they are held in pressure.
  • the roller 27 serves as a simple guide: it is mounted crazy.
  • the rolls specific to the sizing unit 22 , 23 and 24 which are also the subject of a specific description later.
  • rollers are provided at their periphery with either a layer of foam or a layer of silicone, depending on whether it is desired that they exert an adhesion on the unsized sheet or on the contrary opposes any shape adhesion in contact with glued sheets.
  • the sheet 50 from the printer 3 is guided by appropriate baffles (not shown), at two input rollers 10 and 11 of the functional unit.
  • the introduction of the sheet 50 at this level is further detected by a detector 12 , in this case constituted by a photoelectric cell, inducing the activation of the motor 31 , and corollary the rotation of the rollers belonging to this first motor unit.
  • the sheet thus detected is thus supported by the pair of rollers 10 and 11, which induces its descent into the rear area of the functional unit 4.
  • the detection cell 12 induces the reversal of the direction of rotation of the motor 31 to cause the rise of said sheet 50. It cooperates with a deflector 51, orienting it towards two pairs of roller platers, respectively 14, 15 and 16, 17, inducing its progression within the functional unit.
  • Said sheet 50 is then detected ( figure 10c ) by a new detection cell 21, in this case constituted by a fork sensor, which will allow to ensure the subsequent processing of the sheet with all the required precision insofar as it precisely determines the leading edge of said sheet and therefore the exact position of the sheet by counting the number of steps of the stepper motor 31.
  • a new detection cell 21 in this case constituted by a fork sensor, which will allow to ensure the subsequent processing of the sheet with all the required precision insofar as it precisely determines the leading edge of said sheet and therefore the exact position of the sheet by counting the number of steps of the stepper motor 31.
  • the sheet When the sheet is in the proper position, it causes the actuation of the creasing unit 18 which, depending on the nature of the sheet will induce the realization of a single groove (intermediate sheet) or four grooves (cover sheet).
  • This creasing unit is further described in connection with the figure 5 .
  • This consists of a die 60 and a punch 61 intended to cooperate with the latter, said punch being mounted at the end of an arm 62 articulated at 63 on the frame of the functional unit 4, and maintained in nonoperational position by means of a spring 64 secured to said frame.
  • the punch is provided with a region 65 projecting linear, adapted to cooperate with a slot 66 formed within the matrix 60, to ensure the creasing of the slip transiting between the two.
  • said die 60 is removable bottom.
  • said die 60 comprises an ejector occupying the slot 66, said ejector being pushed upwards by two spring loaded pushers 67, inducing ejection of the fold formed in the sheet by the cooperation of the area 65 of the punch and the slot 66 of the matrix, and thus avoiding the attachment of the sheet against the edge of said slot when the leaflet starts moving.
  • the actuation of the punch 61 in cooperation with the die 60 is achieved by means of a cam 41 in direct contact with the motor axis of a motor 40. Obviously during the creasing operation, the leaflet is static, the rollers ensuring its progression being stopped. After the creasing operation, the progress of the slips continues.
  • the free end of the arm 53 is provided with a roller 57, rotatably mounted, and arranged in such a way as to cooperate with the third pair of descent rollers 29 and 30, and to raise the cover flap and push the roller 37 upwards and thus release the passage necessary for the rise of the flap.
  • the cover arm 53 is in the up position.
  • the first portion or upstream portion of the cover sheet 52 is received at said arm and is bent substantially parallel to the curve of the arm 53.
  • the latter lowers in the low position ( figure 11b ) under the action of the cam 56, and the receiving plate 55 is translated at its place of positioning and receiving the sheets.
  • this induces the cooperation of the rear pressure roller 28 with said plate 55, inducing the tension of the downstream zone of the cover sheet 52, then its plating on said plate. It has thus been represented on the figure 11c plating the downstream zone of the cover sheet 52 on the plate 55 by said rear pressure roller 28.
  • the plate 55 is translated in the other direction to be positioned at its place of reception of the other intermediate sheets ( figure 11d ).
  • each of the intermediate sheets is glued, with the exception of the last intermediate sheet, which is glued to it on the entire back, in order to then allow gluing. back cover. More particularly, only half of the upstream area of the back side of each of the sheets in question is effectively glued.
  • the sizing according to the invention consists of coating the dedicated area of the sheets with a transferable adhesive film, such as for example marketed by the company 3M or TESA.
  • This transferable adhesive film is for example made based on acrylic or vinyl or other. Acrylic is however better suited to the permanent collage of photographic paper.
  • This adhesive film is stored on a non-adhesive support, for example made of paper coated with silicone, the assembly being itself stored on a coil 34, mounted idle in rotation, slightly braked in its rotation, and constituting one of the consumables of the installation.
  • This coil is received in dedicated housing provided in the frame of the functional unit 4.
  • the silicone support without adhesive film that is to say after sizing operation, is stored on a reel 35, also received in dedicated housing for this purpose. This is rotated using a DC motor which meshes directly on the coil 35 by means of a toothed pinion, to ensure the rewinding of the silicone support on itself. It is also retractable out of the installation after use.
  • the support provided with the adhesive film 36 is supported by a motorized roller 22 said motor roller glue.
  • the motorization of the latter is provided by a specific electric motor 70, capable of rotating in both directions.
  • Said lever 71 is also likely to be partially retracted out of its operating position by means of a handle 75, which can also be observed on the figure 1 , and connected to said lever 71 by cross members 74.
  • the assembly constituted by the lever 71, the handle 75 and the cross-members 74 forms the sizing arm mentioned above.
  • Said gluing roller 24, mounted at the end of the lever 71 opposite to the hinge pin 73, is capable of meshing with the motorized glue roll 22. It is therefore provided for this purpose with a toothed wheel co-operating with a toothed wheel which is provided with the roller 22 these different elements not being shown so as not to unnecessarily overload the figures.
  • the gluing roll 24 is mounted on the lever 71 according to the principle of the freewheel. In other words, it is rotatable in one direction only, being locked in the direction of inverted rotation. In such a case, and because of its blocking, it will be rotated relative to the center of rotation of the motorized glue roll 22 and therefore around the latter, because of meshing on said motorized glue roll 22.
  • This rotation is made possible, notwithstanding its attachment to the end of the lever 71 by the presence of a light 76 formed in the vicinity of said end, allowing the lever 71 to tilt despite being locked by the handle 75.
  • the figure 6b which illustrates the sizing unit in the waiting position, even though the figure 6a represents the same unit in actual sizing position.
  • the sizing unit comprises a roller 23 acting as a sizing abutment, that is to say, filling the counter-reaction function during the actual sizing phase on the sheet considered in response to the sizing. positive action of the gluing roller 24.
  • the gluing roller 24 is raised and cooperates with the sizing stop roller 23 between which progresses the area of the sheet considered. In doing so, the glue roll 24 effectively transfers the adhesive film to that area.
  • the motor 70 specific to the sizing unit is inverted, inducing, due to the free-wheel assembly of the gluing roller 24, the rotation of the latter around the glue motor roller 22, and consequently the retreat thereof ( figure 12c ) since this one can not turn in the opposite direction. In doing so, the combination of the progression of the sheet considered and the retreat of this roller induces a clean cut of the adhesive film, thus avoiding inadvertent adhesive deposition with the damaging consequences that may result.
  • the receiving plate 55 progresses towards the front of the functional unit 4, and the sheet considered, and more particularly its upstream area then glued is subjected to the action of the front pressure roller 32, ensuring not only the plating this upstream zone on the first part of the cover sheet but also its actual bonding thereon.
  • the direction of progression of the receiving plate 55 is then reversed again, and the latter returns in the backward direction of the functional unit, so that due to the continued progression of the downstream zone of the sheet, in addition to the groove made previously, thereby inducing the folding of said sheet, fold which will be supported by the rear pressure roller 26 as can be observed on the figure 12e .
  • the album is thus assembled.
  • the finish of the album is described below in more detail in relation to the Figures 14a to 14e .
  • this finish basically aims to trim the album for the purposes, notwithstanding the precise positioning of the various sheets abutting the stops 80 of the receiving plate 55, to confer a clean appearance to said album.
  • this cover sheet ensures the thickness of the album, there is necessarily a gap between the free edge of said cover sheet and that of intermediate sheets, hence the need for this cutting to ensure a clean slice of the free edge of the album.
  • the receiving plate 55 progresses towards the front of the functional unit 4 and the album is then taken over by the pressure roller trimmer 33, as can be observed on the Figures 14a and 14b .
  • the progression of the plateau at this level induces the retraction of the stops 80 as can be observed on the Figures 9a and 9b .
  • said teeth or stops 80 are in fact mounted at the end of an arm 81, itself hinged at 82 on the underside of said plate 55.
  • This arm 81 comprises two cams or projections directed downwards respectively an anterior cam 83 and a rear cam 84, each intended to cooperate with a cam path 85, associated with the plate 55 and free in translation relative thereto.
  • the cam 83 cooperates with the planar upper zone of the cam path 85, thereby inducing the positioning of the stops 80 in operational mode.
  • the cam 84 which cooperates with the cam path 85, inducing, because of the axis d substantially median articulation 82, the retraction of the teeth or stops 80.
  • an anti-recoil stop schematized by the reference 86 actuated by a cam (not shown) is lowered.
  • the direction of progression of the receiving plate 55 is again reversed, inducing the cooperation of the anti-recoil stop 86 with the binding or back of the album thus produced and consequently, its offset from said plate towards the front zone of the functional unit 4 (towards the right on the figure 14b ).
  • the album slides on said plate and protrudes with respect to its upstream edge.
  • the direction of progression of the receiving plate 55 is then reversed again in the direction of the front of the functional unit until it reaches the operating zone of a cutter 38.
  • This is typically constituted by a guillotine blade. , actuated by a geared cam capable of providing a pressure of the order of 400 daN on the cutting length.
  • This guillotine blade therefore ensures a free cut of the free edge of the album made, the album being maintained during the action of the paper cutter 38 by the pressure roller trimmer 33, the receiving plate 55 then being static.
  • the receiving plate 55 moves back, but because of the presence of the anti-recoil stop 86, the album slips out of the tray and is cleared and then received on an inclined flange 42 in the bottom of the functional unit 4, allowing the evacuation by gravity of said album towards the receptacle 5.
  • This plate is secured to a toothed belt 93, actuated in translation in both directions by a dedicated electric motor 94.
  • the length of the tray can be reduced significantly compared to the device described in the aforementioned prior art. In doing so, we gain in compactness and size.
  • the installation according to the invention makes it possible to produce photo albums of variable thicknesses that can typically be up to 20 sheets or 40 pages.
  • the entire installation is managed by a programmable logic controller or a PC or an electronic logic, ensuring in particular the activation of the various motors as well as the processing of the signals transmitted by the detection cells.
