Definitions
- the invention relates to a clothing care cabinet for clothes and other objects.
- drying cabinets air is heated and circulated inside the cabinet and is then ventilated into the surroundings. This method of operation results in high energy costs, since the heated air is wasted, and also assumes that the textiles to be dried can withstand the heating.
- traditional drying cabinets are popular and are widely used domestically. Drying cabinets are generally considered to give the textiles a more gentle treatment than for example tumble-driers. Clothes and other textiles are hung in the drying cabinet on a drying rack arranged inside the cabinet. Most conventional drying cabinets must be connected to ventila- tion ducts and similar, which generally incur high installation costs.
- drying cabinets can be arranged with a dehu- midifier or a condenser.
- a drying cabinet with a condenser is disclosed in GB1223274. Air is circulated inside the drying cabinet in a closed system. The air is heated and is then cooled and dried. A conven- tional drying rack is arranged inside the cabinet.
- WO2006100334A1 is related to a clothes softening and drying wardrobe, comprising a closed, static enclosure which defines an inner space for clothes.
- the wardrobe is arranged with an air pump, heating means and a condenser. Also, sensors for measuring temperature and humidity inside the wardrobe are included.
- the air pump, heating means and the condenser are arranged together as a machine unit in a bottom portion of the wardrobe, in which a considerable part of the interior space is occupied.
- a door covers an opening in the wardrobe above the machine unit.
- EP09436A1 A similar device is disclosed in EP09436A1.
- the drying cabinets described above are arranged as rectangular parallelepipeds having rectangular sides and a door along, or forming, a front side.
- the cabinets are arranged with enclosing wall portions, a rack arranged inside the cabinet for hanging clothes, and a dehumidifier.
- the controls used for turning the cabinets on and controlling the cabinets are generally arranged above the door.
- Cabinets having condenser function are more energy-saving than drying cabinets of earlier models. Instead, one drawback is that the air pump, condenser and other hardware that have been added occupy a considerable part of the interior space of the cabinet. The remaining space for garments and other textiles is reduced correspondingly.
- drying cabinets One problem with previously known drying cabinets is that it is difficult to reach inner portions of the cabinet when garments are hung or taken out.
- the cabinets comprise fixed interior fittings, which are suitable for certain fields of application but are less suitable, or even unsuitable, for other fields of application.
- US5555640 relates to a drying cabinet having a fan arranged at the top of the cabinet, and heaters arranged by the fan.
- the drying cabinet is elevated and provided with wheels, so that it can be moved easily.
- an accompanying drying rack is also provided with wheels.
- rails are arranged in the cabinet so that the drying rack can be rolled into and out of the cabinet.
- An object of the present invention is to reduce and avoid the disadvantage and problems of the prior art.
- the object is achieved by the cabinet being provided with an air treatment unit arranged in a bottom portion inside the cabinet with open spaces against nearby wall portions.
- the rack is provided with wheels, so as to be rolled in and out of the cabinet, and two gable portions being connected to a plurality of cross bars.
- the cross bars are arranged at a height so that the rack freely can be rolled in and out of the cabinet with the wheels rolling in the open space.
- the rack is foldable and fits in the folded position in the open space between the air treatment unit and the adjacent wall. Consequently, two folded racks can be positioned in the cabinet when it is not in use.
- a collector belonging to the air treatment unit is provided for collecting condensation water and is arranged at the bottom of the cabinet. Hence, the stability of the cabinet is increased when water is filled. Air is dehumidified in the air treatment unit and is blown upwards by means of a fan or an air pump through the cabinet. According to one embodiment the orifice of a duct is arranged at the top of the cabinet, which duct leads the air back to the air treatment unit in a system being closed in the normal mode of operation. Conveniently, the duct runs along a backside of the cabinet down to the air treatment unit.
- the air treatment unit may comprise a condenser and/or a humidifier.
- a wireless remote con- trol unit is arranged for controlling the air treatment unit.
- the remote control unit can be provided with a magnet, wherein the remote control unit can be attached to any metal coated part of the clothing care cabinet.
- clothing care cabinets according to the invention are arranged with two doors that are opened away from each other.
- the clothing care cabinet can be provided with magnetically or electrically locked doors.
- the doors are provided with a mechanical load or a spring load to be opened automatically when the electric or magnetic lock is operated. Any remaining humidity in the cabinet then can escape to the space outside.
- the remote control unit can also be used for opening the doors.
- the doors can also be opened auto- matically after a predetermined period of time or when a predetermined remaining humidity has been reached or in respect of any other condition to be set.

- the drying rack 10 is arranged with two opposite gable portions 12, which are connected with a lower cross bar 13 and an upper cross bar 14.
- the upper cross bar also functions as a bar for hanging garments and other textiles.
- An air treatment unit 15 is arranged at a lower part of the cabinet 11.
- the air treatment unit is more narrow than the interior width of the cabinet 11 , which means that a first open space 16 remains between the air treatment unit 15 and an adjacent first side wall 17.
- a corresponding second open space 18 remains between the air treatment unit 15 and an adjacent second side wall 19, see also Fig. 2.
- the drying rack 10 can be folded together and then fitted in one of the open spaces 16; 18. There can be different embodiments of the drying rack 10. According to one embodiment the lower cross bars 13 can be folded up- wards and the upper cross bar 14 can be folded down or alternatively horizontally. Consequently, the drying rack 10 maintains substantially the same height as when unfolded and can be fitted also vertically in the open spaces inside the cabinet 11.
- the drying rack 10 comprises two identical gable portions 12.
- Each gable portion 12 comprises two elongated legs 20, which are connected to a plurality of parallel supporting arms 21.
- On the arms different types of shelves can be positioned.
- One common form of shelf is a frame with bars, se Fig. 3-Fig. 5.
- Each leg 20 is provided with a wheel at the bottom, preferably of the type that can be swivelled and allow any direc- tion of movement when the drying rack is rolled.
- the distance between the wheels 26 and the lower cross bars 13 exceeds the height of the air treatment unit 15. Hence, it is possible to roll in an unfolded drying rack without any obstruction from the air treatment unit 15.
- At least two drying racks 10 accompany a clothing care cabinet 11 according to the invention.
- one drying rack can be prepared outside the cabinet 11 while the other being provided with objects to be treated is inside the cabinet. Then, it is easy to roll out the drying rack form the cabinet and instead roll in the one being prepared outside the cabinet. Any subsequent drying or subsequent treatment can be performed outside the cabinet.
