Definitions

  • the invention relates to a document input module for inputting documents having at least one MICR section and for reading out information of the MICR section.
  • MICR Magnetic Ink Character Recognition
  • Such magnetic processing of documents with MICR sections requires a certain orientation of the documents, for example on an abutment edge. Furthermore, it is necessary that the document is entered in a certain position.
  • a basic idea of the invention is that the document input module is equipped with at least one further reading head. As a result, it is advantageously achieved that different formats can be read in the random entry position of entered documents.
  • the possible positional variance of the MICR sections is easily absorbed by covering a corresponding range of variance with one or more fixed read heads.
  • an arrangement of further read heads corresponds to different formats and input positions of entered documents.
  • the arrangement of the further read heads can be offset next to one another in a line transversely to a transport direction of entered documents or, particularly advantageously, also among one another. Both are possible, covering a large number of different document formats.
  • the arrangement of the read heads in staggered arrangement in different rows leads to a particularly advantageous reading, since the noise behavior of the read heads is minimized in this arrangement.
  • the relative arrangement of the read heads is therefore designed to ensure that the MICR section is always in a readable and secure position under an associated read head when transporting an input document into the document input module.

  • a further invention also provides the subordinate subject matter of claim 8.
  • This claim provides a document input module for inputting documents having at least one MICR section and having at least one read head for reading the at least one MICR section, the document input module being suitable both for reading MICR sections. Sections formed on top as well as for reading MICR sections arranged on the bottom of input documents.
  • This independent invention which is also fundamentally suitable as a development of the subject matter of claim 1, also makes it possible to read out or evaluate checks with MICR sections when they are "upside down", that is to say with the MICR sections on the reading head the opposite side of the paper.
  • the reading can also be done by arranging other read heads, which lie opposite the first read heads on the other side of the paper.
