Definitions
- the invention relates to a device for paying out banknotes.
- the device comprises at least one banknote container and a withdrawal unit for removing banknotes from the banknote container. Furthermore, the device has a multiple trigger sensor for detecting multiple triggers and a control unit.
- the invention further relates to a method for determining the banknote inventory of at least one banknote container.
- the banknotes are removed individually from cash cassettes with the help of withdrawal and separation modules assigned to the cash cassettes and fed via a transport path to an output compartment, via which the banknotes are presented to an operator as a stack.
- the banknotes are removed from the cash cassettes, it can happen, for example due to adhesion forces acting between the banknotes, that two or more banknotes are withdrawn from a cassette at the same time.
- Such a multiple withdrawal is detected with the help of a multiple withdrawal sensor and the banknotes of the multiple withdrawal are stored in a reject cassette.
- the multiple trigger sensor With the help of the multiple trigger sensor, it can only be detected whether there is a multiple trigger or not. However, it is not possible to use this multiple withdrawal sensor to determine how many banknotes the multiple withdrawal consists of. The result of this is that after multiple withdrawals have been made from a cash box, the exact number of banknotes in this cash box is no longer known. In order to determine the inventory, the cash box must first be removed from the ATM, the automatic cash register system or the automatic safe deposit box and an inspection carried out. This results in considerable effort and associated costs. However, without an audit, only the total inventory of the ATM, the automatic cash register or the automatic cash register system can be determined as the difference between the entire initial inventory and all paid out banknotes.
- a sheet handling apparatus comprising reading means for reading characteristics of a sheet and storage means for storing the characteristics of the sheets read by the reading means in the order in which the sheets were picked up in a collecting section of the apparatus.
- the storage means are part of a control unit of the sheet handling device and are therefore no longer available for further handling of the sheets stored in the collecting section after the collecting section has been removed from the sheet handling device.
- the characteristics can only be detected from sheets that are fed to the sheet handling device and can thus be detected by the reading means. When feeding sheets from a collecting section, no characteristics are known for these sheets already present in the collecting section.
- banknote system is known in which banknotes are stored in a mixed manner. After the banknotes have been removed from the cash cassettes, the banknotes are checked before they are paid out in order to detect multiple deductions.
- the document EP 1 755 088 A1 describes a device for handling banknotes in which the occurrence of multiple deductions is determined using sensors.
- the banknote container comprises a storage element in which a banknote-specific feature of each banknote held in the banknote container and the order of the banknotes within the banknote container are stored.
- the withdrawal unit withdraws a third banknote from the banknote container.
- the banknote-specific feature of the third banknote is determined.
- the control unit compares the determined banknote-specific feature with the banknote-specific features stored in the storage element and, depending on the result of this comparison, determines the order of the banknotes in the current inventory of the banknote container stored in the storage element of banknotes.
- banknotes with at least two different denominations are stored in a banknote container.
- a multiple withdrawal is understood to mean the simultaneous unintentional withdrawal of two or more banknotes from the banknote container. Such multiple deductions occur, for example, due to static friction and/or adhesion forces acting between the banknotes.
- the order of the banknotes is stored in particular in such a way that each banknote in the storage order is represented by its banknote-specific feature.
- the inventory is preferably determined by comparing the banknote-specific feature of the third banknotes detected using the feature sensor with the stored banknote-specific features and determining which banknote follows the third banknote in the order.
- the device preferably comprises several, in particular four, banknote containers.
- Each banknote container includes at least one storage element.
- There is at least one piece of information in a memory area of the memory element about the banknote-specific characteristics of all banknotes held in the respective banknote container and about the order in which the banknotes are stored in the respective banknote container.
- the memory element is preferably a non-volatile memory, in particular a non-volatile semiconductor memory such as an EEPROM.
- the third banknote is removed from the banknote container from which the multiple print was also taken.
- the control unit compares the banknote-specific feature of the third banknote with the banknote-specific features stored in the storage element of the banknote container from which the multiple print was taken and, depending on the result of this comparison, determines the order in which the banknotes are stored in the banknote container , the inventory of this banknote container. In this way, the inventory of the banknote container from which the multiple withdrawal occurred can be determined in a simple manner immediately after the multiple withdrawal occurs, so that the current inventory of banknotes is known at all times.
- Banknotes of different denominations are preferably arranged in the different banknote containers.
- the banknote containers are in particular cash cassettes, with the help of which the banknotes held in the cash cassettes can be easily transported between different ATMs, automatic cash register systems, automatic cash registers and/or cash centers and in which the banknotes are safely stored.
- the banknote-specific feature is the image of the banknote in the visible, infrared or UV range and/or an image of fluorescent elements in the paper of the banknote.
- the serial number of the respective banknote can serve as an additional banknote-specific feature.
- banknote-specific feature occurs in at least two banknotes, i.e. several times, in the banknote container.
- a payout of these banknotes can then be prevented.
- these banknotes can be transported into a reject cassette.
- each banknote is preferably assigned a banknote container-specific number, which indicates the storage order of the banknotes in the banknote container or represents an output location within the banknote container.
- the denomination and/or the currency of each banknote held in the banknote container is stored in the storage element of the banknote container assigned to the banknote.
- the banknote-specific features, the face value, the currency and the location of a banknote are stored in a clearly assigned order.
- the banknote-specific features, the denomination, the currency and the location of the banknote are stored in order as a data record.
- banknotes of different currencies can be stored mixed in a banknote container.
- euro banknotes and Swiss francs can be accommodated in the same banknote container at the same time.
- the feature sensor is a banknote reader for checking the authenticity of deposited banknotes.
- Banknote readers from BEB in particular the types BPI200, BPV202, BPV212 and Line-X, are suitable as banknote readers.
- a banknote reader is necessary to check the face value, the currency and the authenticity of a deposited banknote.
- no further feature sensor needs to be provided, so that costs and installation space are saved.
- a feature sensor can additionally or alternatively be provided to determine the banknote-specific feature is only used to determine the banknote-specific characteristics.
- a banknote storage container for storing banknotes that cannot be paid out, with at least the banknotes of the multiple prints being stored in this banknote storage container.
- the third banknote is also placed in this banknote storage container after the banknote-specific feature of the third banknote has been determined. This means that no additional banknote container needs to be provided to accommodate the banknotes withdrawn after multiple deductions to determine the current inventory, which saves installation space.
- an additional banknote storage container can also be provided to accommodate the banknotes withdrawn to determine the current inventory.
- a banknote storage container can also be provided, which is divided into several compartments, with the banknotes from the multiple deductions and the banknotes that were deducted to determine the current inventory being stored in different compartments.
- the third banknote in particular in devices that are used to deposit and withdraw banknotes, can also be fed back to a banknote container, preferably the banknote container from which it was previously removed. In this way, the third banknote is available for a later payout process, so that the intervals at which the device has to be filled with new banknotes are extended.
- the control unit determines the number of banknotes of a multiple withdrawal by subtracting the inventory of this banknote container after the multiple withdrawal from the inventory of the banknote container from which the multiple withdrawal was withdrawn before the multiple withdrawal.
- the number of banknotes in the multiple withdrawal can be determined in a simple manner.
- the inventory of banknotes in the banknote storage container can be determined in this way. This can be determined on the one hand as the sum of the number of banknotes in the individual multiple withdrawals or alternatively by subtracting the current stocks of the banknote containers and the number of banknotes paid out from the initial stocks of all banknote containers. In this way, the banknote storage container can be emptied in good time before no more banknotes can be accommodated.
- a further aspect of the invention relates to a method for determining the inventory of at least one banknote container of a device for paying out banknotes.
- Information about a banknote-specific feature of each banknote accommodated in the banknote container and the order of the banknotes within the banknote container are stored in a storage element of the banknote container.
- a third banknote is withdrawn from the banknote container and the banknote-specific feature of these banknotes is determined.
- the current inventory of banknotes in the banknote container is determined.
- banknote-specific features are preferably determined with the aid of a sensor for determining the banknote-specific features and are stored in the storage area of the storage element together with a running number that characterizes the order of the banknotes within the banknote container.
- the face value and the currency of all banknotes held in the banknote container are also determined with the help of the sensor and stored in the storage area together with the serial number and the banknote-specific feature.
- the method specified by the independent method claim can be developed in the same way as specified for the device according to claim 1.
- the method can be further developed with the features or corresponding method features specified in the dependent patent claims relating to the device.
- the device specified by the independent device claim can be developed in the same way as the method according to the independent method claim.
- the device can be used with the independent procedural claim Features or corresponding device features specified in the dependent claims are further developed.
- FIG. 1 a schematic representation of an ATM 10 is shown.
- the ATM 10 includes four cash cassettes 12a to 12d for holding banknotes.
- Each cash box 12a to 12d includes a storage element 14a to 14d.
- information about the serial number, the denomination, the currency and the location of the banknote is stored for each banknote stored in the respective cash box 12a to 12d in the order in which the banknotes are stored in the respective cash box 12a to 12d 12d are arranged and in which they are also removed again from the cash box 12a to 12d, stored.
- the location of the respective banknote in the sequence is in particular via a money cassette-specific sequential number, which indicates the position of the banknote in relation to the other banknotes within the cash cassette 12a to 12d is stored in the storage element 14a to 14d.
- Each cash cassette 12a to 12d is assigned a separation and withdrawal module 16a to 16d, with the help of which banknotes stored in the respective cash cassette 12a to 12d can be individually removed from the cash cassette 12a to 12d for payment to an operator.
- the removed banknotes are transported along a transport path 17 to an input and output compartment 18 for output to an operator.
- the banknotes are issued to the operator in bundled form.
- each deposited banknote As well as the face value and the currency of the deposited banknote are first determined with the help of a banknote reader 20.
- the banknotes that have been deposited and found to be genuine are stored in the cash cassettes 12a to 12d according to their denominations using the separation and withdrawal modules 16a to 16d.
- the multiple trigger sensor 22 is preferred a thickness sensor, in particular a Hall sensor.
- a sensor can also be used as the multiple withdrawal sensor 22, in which both the thickness and the length of overlapping banknotes are determined, as disclosed in the German patent application with the official file number 10 2009 003 989.9. The contents of this patent application are hereby incorporated by reference into this description.
- the banknotes of the determined multiple prints are stored in a reject cassette 24.
- the multiple deduction sensor 22 Since the multiple deduction sensor 22 only determines the presence of a multiple deduction but not how many banknotes this multiple deduction comprises, in order to determine the banknote inventory, another banknote is removed from the cash cassette 12a to 12d from which the multiple deduction was taken and this is fed to the banknote reader 20 .
- the banknote reader 20 is, for example, a banknote reader from BEB, which captures and processes at least one image of the banknote. With the help of the electronic banknote reader 20, the serial number of this additional banknote is determined and transmitted to a control unit 26.
- the control unit 26 reads the data stored on the storage element 14a to 14d of the cash cassette 12a to 12d from which the further banknote was removed, in particular the stored serial numbers, and compares these with the determined serial number of the further banknote.
- the control unit 26 determines the current inventory of the cash cassette 12a to 12d after the multiple withdrawal. In particular, it is determined which banknote in the cash box 12a to 12d follows the other banknote and can therefore be seen next from the cash box 12a to 12d. Furthermore, the control unit 26 determines by comparing the inventory of the cash cassette 12a to 12d before the multiple withdrawal and the inventory after the multiple withdrawal how many banknotes the multiple withdrawal includes. In this way, the current inventory of all cash boxes 12a to 12d can be easily determined at any time, even after multiple withdrawals. This also makes it possible to quantify the multiple deductions more precisely. Furthermore, the inventory of banknotes in the reject cassette 24 can also be determined in this way by adding up the number of banknotes of all the multiple prints held in the reject cassette 24.
- the additional banknote fed to the banknote reader 20 is transported into the reject cassette 24 after its serial number has been determined.
- a further cash cassette can also be provided, in which the banknotes that were removed from the cash cassettes 12a to 12d to determine the inventory after a multiple withdrawal are stored separately from the multiple withdrawals.
- the additional banknote can also be fed back to the cash cassettes 12a to 12d after its serial number has been determined, so that it is available for later payout processes.
- the additional banknote is fed to the cash cassette 12a to 12d from which it was removed.
- the banknotes can be stored in the cash cassettes 12a to 12d either by type or in the form of mixed storage become.
- type only banknotes of one denomination are stored in each cash box 12a to 12d.
- mixed storage on the other hand, banknotes with at least two different denominations are stored in at least one cash cassette 12a to 12d.
- serial numbers, the denominations, the currencies and the order of the banknotes in a cash box 12a to 12d are automatically determined when a cash box 12a to 12d is filled in a cash center, preferably with the help of a sensor, and information about them is stored in the storage area of the storage element 14a to 14d of the cash cassette 12a to 12d are stored. After inserting the cash cassette 12a to 12d into the ATM 10, this information stored on the storage element 14a to 14d can be read out and provided to the control unit 26 of the ATM 10.
- the serial number, the denomination and the currency of the banknote deposited are also determined with the help of the banknote reader 20 and after the banknotes have been deposited in one of the cash cassettes 12a to 12d together with the position of this banknote in the storage order of the banknotes in the cash cassette 12a to 12d is stored as information in the storage area of the storage element 14a to 14d of the cash cassette 12a to 12d.
- the serial number can also be determined not by the banknote reader 20, but rather with the help of a separate serial number sensor.
- This serial number sensor is designed in particular in such a way that the serial numbers of banknotes can be quickly and easily determined.
- the ATM 10 can also only be used to pay out banknotes.
- the ATM 10 also includes a serial number sensor instead of a banknote reader 20, which determines the serial number of a banknote withdrawn after a multiple withdrawal in order to determine the inventory of the cash cassette 12a to 12d from which the multiple withdrawal took place.
- the previously described method for inventory management of the cash cassettes 12a to 12d can be used in addition to ATMs 10 and also in other devices, in particular in automatic cash register systems and/or automatic cash registers in which banknotes are separated and paid out.
- cash cassettes 12a to 12d other banknote containers can also be used.
- bags can also be used to hold banknotes that can no longer be paid out.
- only the serial numbers and the storage order of the banknotes held in the cash cassettes 12a to 12d could be stored in the storage elements 14a to 14d of the cash cassettes 12a to 12d.
- the recording and storage of the denominations and currencies of the banknotes recorded can be dispensed with if the cash cassettes 12a to 12d are stored by type and only banknotes of one currency are stored and/or the denominations of the individual banknotes are stored using the serial numbers other data source can be determined.
- another banknote-specific feature it is possible for another banknote-specific feature to be used to identify the banknotes in addition to the serial number or instead of the serial number.
- the serial number sensor can also capture only an image of an area of the banknote where a serial number is expected and process the image using a known OCR method.
