That is, the operation performed by box 54a involves temporal filtering for data retrieval and Fast Fourier Transform of the retrieved data for the spectra analysis; and the operation by block 54b involves the temporal filtering for data retrieval.
- the baseline data measured by block 51a is subtracted from that measured by block 54a; and similarly, as indicated by block 55b, the baseline data measured in block 51b is subtracted from that produced by block 54b. If either of these measurements indicates an undue level of vehicle emission from the respective vehicle, a video monitoring system is triggered, as indicated by block 57. As mentioned earlier, the video monitoring system could produce an alarm signal, could display the respective measurement, and/or could be recorded for further processing or other use.

Abstract
L'invention porte sur un procédé et sur un appareil pour détecter la nature d'une composition gazeuse, particulièrement des émissions de véhicule sur une surface de chaussée, en : disposant de manière sensiblement parallèle à la surface un canal de transmission optique comprenant une source de rayonnement optique au niveau d'une extrémité et un catadioptre au niveau de l'extrémité opposée, lequel catadioptre est mobile de manière axiale sur le canal de transmission optique sensiblement parallèlement à la surface en direction de et de façon à s'éloigner de la source de rayonnement optique; au niveau d'une première position du canal de transmission optique, en détournant une partie du rayonnement optique dans celui-ci vers la surface, et en détectant au moyen d'un système de détection et télémétrie par la lumière (LIDAR) la matière particulaire dans la composition gazeuse au niveau de la première position; au niveau d'une seconde position du canal de transmission optique, en détournant une autre partie du rayonnement optique dans le canal de transmission optique vers un catadioptre fixe par rapport à la surface, et en détectant au moyen d'un système de détection de spectroscopie infrarouge à transformée de Fourier (FTIS) la composition gazeuse au niveau de la seconde position, tout en déplaçant la catadioptre mobile par rapport à la source de rayonnement optique; et en traitant les sorties des deux systèmes de détection pour déterminer si l'une ou l'autre des sorties dépasse excessivement une valeur de référence prédéterminée.
