Definitions
- This invention relates to a clamping profile for applications and uses of all kinds.
- a clamping profile is understood below a profile which is variable in its cross section, so that it can be installed anywhere with a small cross section, and thereafter by enlargement of its cross section, a clamping effect is achieved. It is considered the enlargement of its cross-section, this cross-section being enlarged at least in one direction, in which the effect of this clamping profile is justified.
- clamping profiles are also used for assembly purposes, namely for the creation of non-positive, so mechanically strong connections of all kinds, and on top of such clamping profiles would provide a good seal against drafts, as well as insulation against heat transfer and sound penetration.
- Object of the present invention is therefore to provide a clamping profile, which applies a much higher clamping force, which is easy to install, and is inexpensive to manufacture and permanently safe in use, and is easily removable again as needed.
- a clamping profile consisting of at least one rubber profile with at least one continuous cavity closed at both ends in its interior, which is connected via a check valve with the atmosphere, so that the air in the cavity sucked and thus the profile can be prestressed in cross section, and upon opening of the check valve, the cavity is filled with air and the clamping profile swells due to the elasticity of its rubber.
- FIG. 1 A simplest embodiment of the inventive clamping profile is in FIG. 1 shown in a cross section. It consists of a rubber profile 1, which has a continuous cavity 4. Typical mass for such a rubber profile are about a width of 55mm and a height of 60mm. The clear width of the cavity 4 is for example 30mm.
- This rubber profile 1 is preferably made of neoprene with a Shor hardness of 60. This is a highly elastic and gas-tight rubber.
- the rubber profile 1 is equipped with a valve 2, through which air from the cavity 4 can be pumped is.
- the valve 2 is either a check valve that simply works in the reverse direction as the valve of a vehicle tire.
- the rubber profile 1 is hermetically sealed at both ends.
- This closure is carried out simply by blunt and airtight vulcanization of a rubber film piece 12, which covers the entire cross section of the rubber profile 1.
- This rubber film piece 12 also neoprene has a thickness of about 0.8 mm, with thinner or thicker films can be used as needed. It is important that these foils have sufficient elasticity and flexibility, for reasons that are based on the description of the FIG. 2 become clear.
- the rubber profile 1 is also provided with grooves 3, 13 extending in the longitudinal direction on its outer sides, so that at their locations the wall thickness is reduced to the inner cavity 4. The meaning and function of these grooves 3 is also based on the FIG. 2 and the associated description.
- FIG. 2 shows namely this clamping profile of this rubber profile 1 in a prestressed state.
- the air in the interior of the cavity 4 is pumped off via the valve 2.
- the rubber profile 1 collapses into the in FIG. 2 shown state.
- the cavity 4 contracts in itself and the middle grooves 13, which extend outside on both sides along the rubber profile, are closed due to the material deformation of the profile wall.
- the grooves 3, however, which extend along the upper and lower edge of the rubber profile 1, allow the folding of the profile wall shown by the profile wall is thinner at this point and thus is weaker than usual. This causes the folding exactly as desired used and the rubber profile 1 is contracted overall in the manner of a bellows in the transverse direction.
- the rubber profile 1 and thus the clamping profile formed by it is biased.
- the atmospheric pressure of the order of magnitude of 1000 mbar pushes it into the form shown, because now in its cavity 4 a much lower pressure prevails.
- an internal pressure of approx. 10 mbar is aimed for.
- the clamping profile can also work at much higher internal pressures of, for example, 500mbar, only then is his commute to back to relaxation accordingly lower. It is clear that the end-side film pieces 12, which closed the profile, must ensure a high tightness of the rubber profile 1.
- these foil pieces 12 must firstly be sufficiently strong, ie neoprene pieces of about 0.8 mm thickness, and at the same time they must be sufficiently movable, because in the course of collapsing the cross-section of the rubber profile 1 they are deformed and corresponding forces act on the vulcanization seams.
- FIG. 3 an alternative clamping profile of a single rubber profile 1 is shown with a cross-section, which has a plurality of cavities 4 as a special feature. These cavities 4 extend longitudinally through the entire rubber profile 1. On both sides of the cavities 4 are sealed with pieces of film, which are vulcanized onto the end faces of the rubber profile 1, so that a gas-tight closure is achieved. These two ends closed by vulcanized rubber pieces cavities 4 can be ventilated via a separate valve 2. Such a measure later makes it possible to use the clamping profile with two clamping stages by optionally only one cavity 4 or both cavities 4 are ventilated.
- the FIG. 4 shows a cross-sectionally round clamping profile of a single rubber profile 1 with a plurality of cavities 4.
- These cavities 4 are here executed rectangular in cross-section, and they are all connected to each other via a central groove 5, that is they communicate with each other. If the uppermost cavity 4, which communicates directly with the valve 2, is ventilated here, the air also flows through the central groove 5 into all other cavities 4 and causes it to swell.
- the valve 2 can be installed at any point, as needed and use of the clamping profile. The valve 2 communicates in each case with one of the cavities 4.
- the cavities 4 are in the representation of the clamping profile after FIG. 5 collapsed, because in this state, a negative pressure in these cavities 4 was created.
- FIG. 6 shows the rubber profile 1 after FIG. 1 in a prestressed condition with a cross section.
- the rubber profile 1 is here incorporated into two further, rigid U-profiles 5.6, which are staggered into each other, as shown.
- These U-profiles 5,6 can be made of metal, plastic, rubber or even wood or other materials.
- U-profiles made of aluminum, because they are stable, lightweight and rustproof.
- the actual clamping profile 20 then consists of the two U-profiles 5.6 with the rubber profile 1. It was preconditioned for assembly by the air was pumped out of the cavity 4 via the valve 2 by means of a vacuum pump and its internal pressure significantly reduced has been. In this state, the valve 2 closes and the clamping profile remains in this now biased state. It can be stored in this state and later transported to the site and installed there.
- FIG. 7 shows this clamping profile 20 after FIG. 6 in the relaxed state after its installation and then ventilation, with a cross section.
- This ventilation happens within a few seconds.
- the nested U-profiles 5.6 are pressed away from each other and develop a clamping action when they fill a gap before about loosely.
- the use of this clamping profile 20 is thus carried out so that always filled a gap, mechanically unclamped and optionally even to be sealed against liquid or gas passage.
- the gap to be thus closed must have a clear width that is less than the height of the clamping profile 20 in the relaxed state.
- the clamping profile 20 is then in the prestressed state, ie with largely evacuated gas content of Cavity 4 of the in-lying rubber profile 1 inserted into the gap to be closed. Because yes, the underlying rubber profile 1 is collapsed and has a smaller cross section, the height of the clamping profile 20 is reduced by a few millimeters or depending on the size of the clamping profile 20 even by a few centimeters, so that it can be inserted into said gap. As soon as the clamping profile 20 is laid as desired in the gap and fits exactly as intended, its valve 2 is opened. Air immediately flows from the environment into the interior of the rubber profile 1 and fills its cavity 4 or, if there are several, its cavities 4. The rubber profile 1 relaxes and presses the two U-profiles 5.6 from each other and jams the clamping profile 20th Fed up in the gap.
- this clamping profile 20 Based on FIG. 8 a typical use of this clamping profile 20 is shown. It is about the installation of partitions. Often partitions should be retrofitted somewhere, and these should often be created temporarily to later, when the needs have changed, to be able to change the layout again with the least possible effort. Nevertheless, however, such partitions should be of the highest possible quality. It is expected a good soundproofing, as well as a gas-tightness and of course a high mechanical strength and stability, so that wall installations can be made on these partitions and suspended about heavy pictures or consoles for all sorts of devices can be mounted or bookshelves can be grown.
- FIG. 8 shows a room with a floor 10, a side wall 11 and a ceiling 9. Transverse to the viewing direction should now be created a partition. There are two partition wall elements 7 provided here. Between them, the view is released on the rear wall 14 located further back of the room. First, a clamping profile 15 is brought into position on the far left, in the prestressed state. This clamping profile 15 is exactly tailored to the room height tailored in length. In order for this to be possible in increments, the rubber profile 1 in its interior must not reach all the way to the end of a standard length of the clamping profile 15.
- a partition wall member 7 is set in position. This is provided here below and above with a clamping profile 20, which is preferably glued to the end face of the partition wall element 7, or is pushed by means of a tongue and groove connection on the end faces of the partition wall element 7.
- the partition wall element 7 may also be equipped only below or only above with a clamping profile 20.
- the clamping profiles 20 are still shown here in a biased, so contracted state.
- the partition wall element 7 is now pushed to the clamping profile 15 on the left side until it abuts on the same exact fit.
- the valves in the clamping profiles 20 are opened at the top and bottom. Immediately quillen the clamping profiles 20 and jammed the partition 7 rich between the floor 10 and the ceiling 9.
- the valve of the wall-side clamping profile 15 is opened so that the gap between the side wall 11 and the adjacent partition wall element 7 is closed tight.
- the next partition element is brought into position and clamped by opening the valves in the clamping profiles 20 above and below. Then the intermediate clamping profile 8 is relaxed, so that the gap between the two already clamped between the ceiling 9 and floor 10 partition wall elements 7 tightly closes.
- the U-profiles 5,6, which surround the rubber sections 1, can be provided with a spring 16, 17 at their pressing surfaces, with which they press against a gap wall when relaxing, as in US Pat FIG. 9 is shown. They are then inserted with a spring 17 in a corresponding groove in the end wall on the top or bottom of a partition element, so that a mechanical connection is achieved, and the clamping profile is secured against lateral forces.
- the partition elements can - if desired - corresponding grooves are milled into the connecting parts, so that when relaxing the rubber profiles, the other spring 16 a this groove is pressed. This also creates a stable mechanical connection.
- the U-profiles are merely provided on their outer clamping surfaces with a rubber coating 18, to increase the frictional force, as in FIG. 10 is still shown.
- a Velcro tape can be laminated, which facilitates the mounting of the clamping profile on a split wall, if this split wall was previously equipped with the counterpart to the hook and loop fastener.
- the U-profile may be provided instead of a spring with a groove 19, which then fits to a corresponding protruding spring on an object.
- the rubber profile is not housed in the interior of U-profiles, but is used directly as a clamping profile, it may be formed on its top and or bottom, which then act as clamping surfaces, in a spring or in a groove. Equally, it can also form flat or slightly outwardly arched clamping surfaces in the swollen state, which can optionally be equipped with Velcro material.
- the cross sections of such rubber 1 and clamping profiles can be made in many shapes and sizes, as needed.
- clamping profiles are very diverse. Whenever an element of any kind can be mounted anywhere by deadlock, they can be used. With the help of a vacuum pump, the clamping profiles can be easily dismantled again after their cavities have been evacuated. If, in fact, the air is pumped out of the cavities again, the clamping profiles contract again and release the clamp. After re-assembly, the cavities only need to be re-ventilated by opening the valves.
- the clamping force is due to the elasticity of the rubber profiles used. These rubber profiles hardly tire if they are used in the correct range of elasticity and a suitable rubber grade with sufficient hardness is used.
- the dimensioning and the shape and the number of cavities can be varied as desired, as needed.
