Definitions

  • the invention relates to a display system which can be used, for example, in wall elements for interior design, in furniture, in electrical appliances, such as refrigerators, or in mirror elements for sanitary rooms or elevators.
  • the known wall element comprises a glass outer surface provided with a decorative pattern, behind which a commercially available flat screen is arranged, such that the flat screen is arranged in a cutout formed by the decorative pattern, by means of which the image representation can be viewed by the user.
  • disadvantageous lig in the known display systems is also that when damage to an electronic component of the various standard input sockets having flat screen this must be removed and replaced, with the expansion of the flat screen, especially if this is behind wall elements or integrated in furniture, usually difficult.
  • the entire flat panel screen must be replaced when new types of socket standards prevail on the market, since the input sockets, such as Scart or HDMI sockets for receiving a video signal are an integral part of the (built) flat screen.
  • the connection of plug contacts in the installed state of the display is problematic since for this purpose, too, the entire display must be removed or at least exposed in order to reach the input sockets of the flat screen.
  • Another problem with display modules arranged behind a transparent surface is that in the room in which the display module is arranged behind a transparent surface, for example a glass surface, in particular a mirror, for example in a bathroom, no signal source for providing a Antenna or video signal is available, so either consuming an antenna connection must be moved into the corresponding room, which proves to be particularly difficult when retrofitting a household with a display system and expensive, or that in the room a signal source, such as a DVD player must be accessible, so that it can be operated comfortably.
  • This is particularly problematic in bathrooms when using a display module with mirror from an aesthetic point of view and also for security-relevant aspects, since the signal source can not be arranged moisture protected as a rule.
  • the invention is therefore based on the object of specifying a display system optimized with regard to a minimum installation space requirement, which display system can also be used independently of the installation location of the signal source. Preferably, the exchange of fault-prone electronic components and the connection of plug contacts should be facilitated. This object is achieved with a display system according to the invention and the features of claim 1.
  • the invention is based initially on the idea of separating the control electronics and the display into a display module and a control module in which the control electronics, preferably comprising an image memory, are arranged which are designed to convert an antenna or video signal into a hardware-related image control signal. preferably to generate a multiplexed signal, in particular an LVDS signal, which can be controlled by the driver of the display module.
  • the control module thus preferably comprises a display controller, in particular an LCD or LED display controller, according to the type of display used. By dispensing with such electronics in the display module, this can be made extremely flat construction.
  • the display module of the display system according to the invention is thus a separate device from the control module, which does not include a common surrounding housing with the control unit module.
  • the display system formed according to the concept of the invention comprises a freely deployable cable which connects the control module to the display module and via which the latter is preferably used as LVDS.
  • Signal, in particular as an interlace signal, formed control signal (preferably a RGB information-containing Pixelan tenusignal) for the driver of the display module is transferable.
  • the display controller of the control module module preferably comprises an LVDS output for connection to the display module for driving it.
  • the display module is preferably equipped with an LVDS signal receiver for receiving the signal provided by the display controller arranged in the control unit module.
  • the control module is thus designed to generate a hardware-related image control signal.
  • the image control signal is preferably a multiplexed pixel drive signal.
  • no image memory is present in the display module and also no electronics for generating a hardware-related image control signal (in particular LVDS and / or TTL signal and / or Backlightan Kunststoffssignal) based on a Antenna or video signal.
  • the image or video processing is preferably carried out exclusively in the control unit module.
  • the display module In addition to a socket for connecting the cable for connection to the control unit module, the display module preferably does not comprise any further input socket.
  • the display module preferably comprises in addition to the two corresponding sockets no further input jack, in particular no further data input jack.
  • the free cable deployability feature is understood to mean that the relative position of the display module to the controller module prior to placing the display module behind the transparent surface and positioning the controller module within or limited by the length of the cable is optional is.
  • the display module of a display designed according to the concept of the invention which is separate from the display module by the electronic control unit and corresponding input sockets for antenna or video signals, is also designed without power supply, according to a further feature of the invention
  • the power supply can be an integral part of the control unit module, or even more preferably, it is designed separately from it.

  • Another essential feature of the invention is to assign a radio receiving unit, which in turn is associated with a radio transmitting unit included in the system, to the control module designed as described above.
  • a radio transmission unit By means of the radio transmission unit, an antenna or video signal fed into the latter can be transmitted to the radio reception unit by radio, which then feeds the antenna or video signal to the control electronics of the control unit module for the purpose of generating an image control signal.
