  • the invention also relates to a method for producing such a data carrier.
  • Data carriers such as security, value or identity documents, but also other valuables, are often provided with security features for security purposes, which permit verification of the authenticity of the data carrier and at the same time serve as protection against unauthorized reproduction.
  • security features whose authenticity is checked in a transparent manner, such as the long-known watermark of paper banknotes, allow a particularly simple authenticity check by the user.

  • FIGS. 5 and 6 This surprising supplementary effect is illustrated in FIGS. 5 and 6 on the basis of two exemplary embodiments.
  • the embodiment of FIG. 5 is based on the embodiment of FIG. 4, however, the notched laser hole 32 of FIG. 5 not only includes the design of a maple leaf 36 in square frame 38 which is covered by the hologram strip 14, but additionally includes a design 60, in which the value "50" (reference numeral 62) is arranged in an elliptical frame 64.
  • This design part 60 of the screened laser hole 32 is arranged laterally next to, but immediately adjacent to, the hologram strip 14, and is therefore also visible when the banknote front side is illuminated, as shown in FIG. 5 (a). If the user now holds the bill against the light to better recognize the design 60, the visual impression of the design 60 surprisingly adds to the design of the maple leaf 36 in the square frame 38, as shown in Figure 5 (b). The appearance when viewed from the banknotes back side except for the additional existing design part 60 corresponds to that of FIG. 4. When viewed in incident light, the maple leaf 36 and the value 62 of the screened laser hole 32 are clearly visible through the cut lines 34 in the banknote paper, as in Fig. 5 (c).

Namely, if a film of the composite is severed by the laser and the substrate scratched relatively deep or even completely severed, the composite foil banknote splits asymmetrically. The laser cut must form a closed contour. On the note page, which was not cut by the laser, the contour is then retained, while in the other note page a corresponding hole is created. If the laser cut is introduced in the area of another authenticity feature, this feature is also destroyed during splitting. A manipulation attempt becomes obvious.
