Claims (8)
- A method for continuously machining the edges of a panel (11), preferably a furniture panel, which is coated with an edge strip, wherein after the application of the edge strip a projecting portion on at least one side of the edge strip is removed by machining, characterized in that during the passage of the panel (11) a dimensionally stable polishing compound (13) is pressed against a polishing tool (12), said polishing tool contacting the machined edge of the edge strip so as to polish said edge, wherein the polishing compound (13) is applied in an intermittent manner to the polishing tool (12), wherein a laminar brush (14), consisting of alternating cloth and sisal lamellae, is associated with and acts with the respective machined edge in the direction of passage of the plate (11) before the engagement of the polishing tool (12), and wherein a cleaning agent is applied by means of a spray nozzle (16) to the region to be polished in the direction of passage of the plate (11) before the engagement of the laminar brush (14).
- A method according to claim 1, characterized in that a cleaning agent is applied to the polished edge after the engagement of the polishing tool (12).
- A method according to claim 2, characterized in that after the application of the cleaning agent to the polished edge it is processed with a buffing wheel (15).
- A device for carrying out the method according to claim 1, characterized in that in the passage direction of the panel (11) and downstream of the machining tool (10) a retaining apparatus (7) is provided which accommodates a dimensionally stable polishing compound (13) and with which the polishing compound (13) can be pressed against a polishing tool (12) which by polishing makes contact with the machined edge of the edge strip, wherein the retaining apparatus (7) comprises a readjusting device for the intermittent application of the polishing compound (13) to the polishing tool (12), wherein a laminar brush (14), consisting of alternating cloth and sisal lamellae, is associated with and acts with the respective machined edge in the direction of passage of the plate (11) before the engagement of the polishing tool (12), and wherein a cleaning agent is applied by means of a spray nozzle (16) to the region to be polished in the direction of passage of the plate (11) before the engagement of the laminar brush (14).
- A device according to claim 4, characterized in that the polishing compound (13) consists of hard wax.
- A device according to claim 4 or 5, characterized in that the polishing tool (12) consists of a polishing brush, disc (12) or belt.
- A device according to one of the claims 4 to 6, characterized in that a further spray nozzle (16) and/or a buffing wheel (15) are provided downstream of the polishing tool (12).
- A device according to one of the claims 4 to 7, characterized in that the polishing tool (12) formed as a polishing disc, the laminar brush (14) and the buffing wheel (15) rotate in the same direction with the passage of the panel (11).
