Definitions

  • loudspeakers of this type are very often attached to false ceilings, above which there are numerous other installations, supply lines, cables, air shafts, pipes and the like.
  • loose cables or pipes can come into contact with the elements on the rear of the loudspeaker, damage them, cause electrical short circuits and / or impair the function of the loudspeaker in some other way.
  • cables and lines can also be damaged by friction on sharp-edged frame parts, electrical plug contacts and similar components on the loudspeaker.
  • WO 2012/174159 A1 describes a method and a device to facilitate the installation of a loudspeaker in a ceiling panel and at the same time to meet visual requirements.
  • an opening is made in the ceiling cladding, into which a rear housing and a support frame are introduced, into which a loudspeaker is connected via appropriate cables and is attached to the support frame.
  • Plastic covers in hood shape are relatively simple and inexpensive to produce.
  • blister is understood to mean a shape that is typically known from packaging in which a generally transparent hood made of plastic material is applied to a generally flat base, the shape of which is roughly adapted to the contour of the packaged object without this shape the hood is to be restricted thereby.
  • tablet packaging in which one side is surrounded by several cup-shaped depressions (which are to be regarded as hoods from the opposite side) are typically referred to as blisters or blister packs.
  • blisters are hollow molds made of plastic material that are produced by using a plastic material in one initially mostly flat, plastically deformable state, for example by fluid pressure, generally by air pressure, bulges on one side and in particular is pressed into an outer shape which forms the negative of the outer shape of the blister understand, which can in principle be produced in this way, without the cover being limited to this type of production.
  • the hood is open on one side, it can easily be placed on the back of the loudspeaker.
  • a small wall thickness of less than 2 mm ensures that the cost of materials is low and the cover can be produced easily.
  • the cross-section which is non-circular in plan view, makes it possible to design the shape of the cover in such a way that it includes components of the actual loudspeaker, but at the same time enough space for fastening elements located outside the cover on the flange sections of a fastening flange of the loudspeaker still to be arranged within a ceiling opening has, with the help of which the speaker can be attached to a ceiling.
  • the hood does not have to be part of the ceiling mounting and is independent of the ceiling mounting of the loudspeaker. At the same time, such a hood protects all parts of the loudspeaker that may be touch-sensitive or easily damaged from contact by cables, pipes or other elements that can typically be found in false ceilings.
  • the non-circular cross-section of the cover also has the advantage that it can easily improve the mechanical stability of the cover despite being made of a plastic material with a small wall thickness, in particular if, according to one embodiment of the invention, the cover is at least one convex as well as at least one has at least one concave portion.
  • the terms rear side and upper side are to be understood in such a way that this side is opposite the side of the loudspeaker that is visible from a room. "From above” or “from the rear” have the same meaning.
  • the terms “convex” and “concave” each relate to the external view of the cover In one embodiment of the invention, the cover (viewed from the outside) has at least two convex areas which are separated from one another by at least one concave section and which each at least partially enclose a protruding assembly of the ceiling loudspeaker and improve the acoustic properties of the loudspeaker.
  • one of the convex sections can enclose an eccentrically arranged transformer, optionally with further electronics, and a further convex section essentially encases a centrally arranged loudspeaker magnet.
  • the loudspeaker can also have one or more further decentrally arranged assemblies, each of which is assigned a corresponding convex section which largely encompasses this assembly and in turn is separated from an adjacent convex section by at least one or a pair of concave sections of the cover. This includes in particular a contact strip for connecting the loudspeaker power contacts.
  • the cover is also designed to be mirror-symmetrical and / or rotationally symmetrical (for example when rotating through 180 ° about a central axis). Furthermore, in one embodiment of the invention, the wall thickness of the cover along a predominant part of the walls of the cover is less than 1 mm. This simplifies and facilitates the production of a corresponding cover in the form of a blister and, in particular, also reduces the material expenditure and the corresponding material costs.
  • the top of the cover has a central fastening bore through which a threaded bolt, for example, can be passed.
  • the threaded bolt can be fastened centrally to the rear of the loudspeaker magnet or the magnet housing, or it can extend through a hole in the magnet and be fastened to the loudspeaker chassis.
  • the cover can then be attached to the rear of the magnet by means of a screw nut, for example a wing nut.
  • An elastic washer or an O-ring dampens the direct acoustic coupling between the cover and the loudspeaker magnet.
  • the lower edge of the cover sits on an annular flange of the loudspeaker, but air can escape between the lower edge of the cover and the annular flange in the event of overpressure and pressure surges inside the cover.
  • the loudspeaker thereby has the properties of a so-called bass reflex loudspeaker, which means that the Speaker acoustics improved.
  • a tight seal of the loudspeaker against moisture, dust or other foreign bodies is guaranteed, since the height of the circumferential wall of the cover is dimensioned so that the lower edge of the cover rests essentially tightly against the annular flange of the loudspeaker when the top is over a central screw nut is attached to the back of the magnet.
  • a flexible O-ring or the like which serves as a washer between the back of the magnet and the inner surface of the top, can compensate for dimensional tolerances in the overall height of the loudspeaker and / or the cover.
  • the cover has at least some sections of flanges or flange sections which are used for fastening and / or tight contact with the annular flange of the loudspeaker.
  • the entire ring-shaped frame part surrounding a loudspeaker which is generally circular when viewed from above, is regarded as an annular flange or fastening flange, an outer section of which can rest against the outside of a false ceiling, while a radially inner section is still located within a corresponding ceiling opening and thus accessible from the upper side in order to be able to attach the cover to it.
  • the cover can then be preassembled, in particular, before the loudspeaker is installed in the ceiling opening, with any fastening clips or other fastening elements that are also located on flange sections located within the opening, but outside the fastening areas of the cover, so that the fastening elements may be located within a the ceiling opening provided for the loudspeaker, but still lie outside the cover.
  • the cover consists of a central, in the basic shape cylindrical, convex section, and two further convex sections arranged on two diametrically opposite sides of this cylindrical section, which have a common flat top and each have two concave sections arranged opposite one another in pairs are separated from each other on the side surfaces.
  • the cover can also have at least one flap that can be opened from the outside.
  • a flap can be formed by a side wall section of the cover which is connected in one piece with the cover along a substantially straight opening edge of the wall and is separated from the cover on the other sides of the flap by a continuous slot in the wall of the cover, wherein the one-piece connection is considered a living hinge.
  • the slot can be made by cutting open the cover or partially punching out the flap.
  • the cover can for example consist of a transparent plastic material, whereby polyethylene terephthalate (PET) has proven to be a very inexpensive material, which on the one hand can be produced relatively easily in the desired shape like a blister, but on the other hand also has positive properties in terms of acoustics and also is or can be made antistatic easily.
  • PET polyethylene terephthalate
  • the fact that the cover is transparent facilitates maintenance and repairs, since in this way all connections are clearly visible and external defects can easily be identified without loosening the cover.
  • the cover is arranged radially inside retaining clips which in turn are fixedly attached to a fastening flange of the loudspeaker within a diameter which is smaller than the diameter of a ceiling opening to be provided for the ceiling loudspeaker.
  • Such a ceiling opening has a diameter which is smaller than the outer diameter of the fastening flange, but larger than a radially inner section of the fastening flange which is provided for receiving within the ceiling opening.
  • FIG. 1 a generally designated 10 cover, a designated 20 ceiling speaker and a perforated plate designated 30, which as a cover on the lower Visible side of the loudspeaker is provided and which, when installed, covers the side of the ceiling loudspeaker that is visible from a room.
  • a mounting flange 21 which in turn consists of an outer ring section 22, an inner ring section 23 and a cylindrical extension that serves as a guide or centering ring 26 for receiving the loudspeaker in a corresponding ceiling opening, the diameter of which the diameter of the guide and centering ring 26 is adapted.
  • Two retaining clips 24 are attached to the inner ring section 23, each of which has a spring-mounted retaining bracket 25.
  • the central frame 29 of the loudspeaker spans the loudspeaker membrane 28 and also carries the centrally arranged loudspeaker magnet.
  • a holder for a loudspeaker transformer 42 is also provided on the inner ring section 23.
  • the front cover 30 consists essentially of a bent perforated plate with tabs 31, which can be inserted into suitable recesses in the inner ring section 23 and fixed on this by bending.
  • the cover 10 is a transparent plastic hood, with a flat top 11 and a central, approximately cylindrical, convex section 12 and two further, diametrically attached to the wall of the central section 12 convex sections 13 and 14, each by pairs of concave wall sections 15a , 15b and 16a, 16b are separated from one another.
  • short flange sections 17 can also be seen on the lower edge of the cover 10, each leaving a recess 18 within which the holding clips 24 are located when the cover is installed.
  • the transformer 42 and its retaining bracket are completely accommodated within the convex section 14, while the central convex section 12 comprises the central frame 29 with the loudspeaker membrane 28 and the loudspeaker magnet 41.
  • the convex section 13 only serves for stability and is also provided for reasons of symmetry of the cover 10, so that the cover 10 could also be mounted rotated by 180 ° about a central axis perpendicular to the cover surface.
  • a contact strip or other electronic components of the loudspeaker could also be used be eccentrically mounted on the inner ring section 23 on the side opposite the transformer 42.
  • Corresponding electronic components such as cable connections, fuses, etc. are not shown here and could optionally also be mounted next to or on the transformer 42.
  • the embodiment of the Figure 2 differs from the embodiment according to Figure 1 essentially only in that the cover 10 'additionally has two lateral flattened areas 19, namely where the retaining clips 24 are located.
  • This variant is intended for a loudspeaker with a larger diameter, in which the retaining clips 24 are moved relatively closer to the center, so that the flattening serves the purpose of leaving the retaining clips outside the cover 10 'and also the correspondingly larger loudspeaker parts , namely to accommodate the frame 29 and the magnet 41 and the transformer 42.
  • Figure 3 Fig. 16 shows various side views of the embodiment of Fig Figure 1 .
  • Figure 3a shows a plan view of the lower or front side of the loudspeaker visible from a room on the ceiling with the lower perforated sheet metal cover 30 and the outer ring section 22 visible from below.
  • Figure 3d is a perspective rear view of the loudspeaker 20 without the cover 10, in which one recognizes the relative arrangement of the transformer, the central magnet and a connection terminal arranged opposite the transformer 42, the retaining clips 24 being arranged approximately on the same radius as the transformer 42 are, while the cover 10 is nevertheless designed so that they due to the convex bulges 13 or 14 accommodates the transformer in its interior, but the retaining clips 24 remain outside the cover 10.
  • a cover can be used to produce a ceiling loudspeaker that meets all regulations and safety requirements, as they are also met by conventional loudspeakers known per se with a cylindrical cover that is typically made of metal, which, however, requires a much more complex and cumbersome installation of the loudspeaker Requires in a ceiling opening or structural changes to the loudspeaker flange and is significantly more expensive than the cover in the form of a plastic blister according to the present invention.
  • FIG. 13 shows a further embodiment of the present invention which differs from the embodiment according to FIG Figure 2 essentially only differs by a different way of attaching the cover to the loudspeaker.
  • a threaded bolt 43 is provided on the rear of the loudspeaker magnet 41, which can be fastened to a rear cover of the magnet, or can extend through a central bore of the magnet and can be fastened to an inner part of the chassis.
  • the top 11 of the cover has a central bore 45 through which the threaded bolt 43 can extend.
  • a relatively thick, elastic washer 44 is first pushed onto the threaded bolt 43 and then the cover 10 ′′ is placed on the loudspeaker so that the threaded bolt 43 extends outward through the bore 45.
  • the cover can be fastened to the threaded bolt 43 or the rear side of the magnet 41.
  • the lower edge of the cover 10 ′′ sits tightly on the inner ring section 23 of the ring flange or fastening flange 21, essentially tightly.
  • connection cables can be passed, which in turn are sealed by ring seals 48 in the bores 47.
  • a separate Access flap in the wall of the cover is not required in this embodiment, since the cover can easily be removed as a whole by loosening a single wing nut.
