Definitions
- the present invention relates to a screen device comprising:
- Such screen devices are usually placed near door or window openings, in which case these are positioned in such a manner with respect to these door or window openings that the screen can screen this door or window opening at least partially against, for example, sunlight and/or insects and/or cold or heat.
- a screen device can also be used as a wall or roof element which can be rolled up, which usually also serves as a screen against, for example, sunlight and/or insects and/or cold or heat.
- Such screen devices are known, inter alia, from EP 0 546 313 A1 or FR 2 775 729 A1 , in which the supporting element is accommodated in a C-shaped fixing body from the top side of the screen casing, or from EP 0 330 806 A1 , DE 26 34 103 A1 or FR 2 773 841 A1 , in which the supporting element is accommodated in a C-shaped fixing body from the front side of the screen casing.
- screen devices of this type are also known in which the fixing bodies are not configured to be C-shaped, but substantially rectangular and in which the guide elements are formed as projecting elements, as is the case, for example, with the screen devices from BE 1 019 252 A5 , BE 1 019 446 A3 and BE 1 019 300 A5 .
- the screen roller can be arranged in an interior space between fixing bodies after these fixing bodies have been installed at the location where the screen device is to be installed. This is desired more and more often.
- a screen casing and optionally screen and/or lath guides are already (partly) fitted.
- the supporting element is pushed between guide elements and then fixed by means of screws and any additional auxiliary means, such as for example a bracket, in order to fasten it to the fixing body.
- access to the interior space of such a screen device is determined by environmental factors, such as the presence of a roof or a wall, etc.
- these environmental factors may require a screen roller to be fitted in such an interior space by at least partly countering the force of gravity.
- the screen roller often has to be held up, together with the screen and any bottom lath which may be fastened to the bottom thereof, counter to the force of gravity so as to be able to fasten the supporting element to the fixing body by means of screws and any additional auxiliary means. This is the case, for example, with screen devices in which the screen roller is to be fitted in the interior space from below.
- this interior space is situated in a roof construction under a roof, or if this interior space is situated in a cavity of a wall above a window opening.
- this interior space is situated in a roof construction under a roof, or if this interior space is situated in a cavity of a wall above a window opening.
- heavy screen rollers and/or screens and/or bottom laths such an installation is not simple and often requires several individuals to cooperate in order to achieve the mounting thereof. This certainly applies if the supporting element has to be pushed vertically upwards between the guide elements.
- a screen device comprising:
- a similar supporting element On the other end side of the screen roller, a similar supporting element will preferably be provided in a similar manner, which supporting element may be fastened, for example, in a similar way to, for example, a fixing body which is constructed in a similar way and which also partly delimits the interior space.
- a screen roller is fitted at least partly counter to the force of gravity and the supporting element is fitted between the guide elements, the securing element will, after this securing element has been returned to its first position, secure the supporting element and prevent it from sliding back out of the guide elements.
- This securing element will therefore also hold up the screen roller, together with the screen and any optional bottom lath, so that the screen roller no longer has to be held up by hand. This therefore significantly facilitates the installation of such a screen device.
- this securing element may also serve as a fastening element by means of which the supporting element is fastened to the fixing body.
- the screen device will additionally comprise one or more fastening elements by means of which the supporting element can be fastened to the fixing body after the former has been secured by means of the securing element.
- the reason for this is that it will generally not be possible to design such a securing element with sufficiently small tolerances so as to ensure a strong connection between the supporting element and the fixing body.
- one or more additional fastening elements are used, it is possible to achieve a strong connection. Screws may, for example, be chosen as fastening elements.
- the supporting element When using additional fastening elements for fastening, the supporting element will then be pushed between the guides until its securing is assured, after which an individual's hands are free to pick up the fastening elements and any tools, such as for example a screwdriver, in order to fasten the supporting element to the fixing body by means of these fastening elements.
- Providing such one or more fastening elements is certainly desirable if not only a mechanical coupling, but also an electrical connection is to be achieved during installation of the supporting element.
- This may, for example, be the case with motorized screen devices which comprise a motor for driving the rolling/unrolling movement of the screen.
- the motor may then be incorporated at the end of the screen roller, in which the supporting element is provided next to the motor.
- a power supply cable may then be provided in order to supply power to the motor.
- an electrical connection may be provided for connecting the power supply cable to the motor.
- a male or a female connecting piece may be provided at the end of the screen roller which incorporates the motor and more precisely on the supporting element.
- a female or male connecting piece, respectively, for coupling the former connecting piece may then be provided on the fixing body.
- Additional fastening elements may offer an advantage as they render the electrical connection more secure.
- the above embodiment comprising one or more additional fastening elements is also preferred in the case of relatively heavy and/or large screen roller applications.
- the support provided by the securing element may be insufficient, as a result of which one or more additional fastening elements are desirable.
- the securing element here not only simplifies installation, but also serves as a safeguard. Should one or more fastening elements become detached, the screen roller will be retained by the securing element, as a result of which the screen roller cannot fall down completely.
- a returning force forces the securing element into its first position and, during installation of the supporting element, the securing element is first moved towards its second position, counter to the returning force, during the sliding movement, as a result of which the supporting element is able to slide in and out of the guide elements and is then be returned to its first position under the effect of the returning force, as a result of which the securing element prevents the supporting element from sliding out of the guide elements.
- a screen device according to the present invention may be in different forms, such as for example a spring force and/or the force of gravity, etc.
- a screen device according to the present invention will comprise a spring, the spring force of which acts as a returning force on the securing element.
- the securing element of a preferred embodiment of a screen device according to the present invention is rotatably arranged so as to be movable between its first position and its second position.
- the fixing body can be made more compact. Installation space for this fixing body (and optionally a complete screen casing of which this fixing body forms part) may then be chosen more specifically mainly on account of the dimensions of the screen roller and any environmental factors and does not have to be determined by the securing element.
- the securing element may, for example, also be provided so as to be linearly movable at right angles to the direction of sliding movement.
- the securing element may, for example, also be provided so as to be linearly movable at right angles to the direction of sliding movement.
- more installation space will have to be provided for this purpose.
- the securing element is rotatably arranged, then it is preferably arranged so as to be rotatable about a rotation shaft and it is preferably guided, by means of a guide shaft, in a limiting guide slot which limits the rotary movement between the first position of the securing element and the second position of the securing element.
- the securing element of a screen device may be provided on the fixing body so as to movable, in which case it extends at least partly in front of the fitting opening in its first position and extends completely next to the fitting opening in its second position and is designed to first be pushed away from the fitting opening by means of the supporting element towards its second position during installation of the supporting element during the sliding movement. If, with such an embodiment, said returning force engages on the securing element, the supporting element will first push the securing element away from the fitting opening during the sliding movement, counter to this returning force.
- a securing element is then arranged so as to be rotatable about a rotation shaft and is guided in a limiting guide slot by means of a guide shaft
- the guide shaft is securely fastened to the fixing body and the guide slot is provided in the securing element.
- the guide shaft could also be securely fixed on the securing element and the guide slot could be provided in the fixing body.
- the above-described embodiments of screen devices according to the present invention with a securing element which is moved away from the fitting opening during the sliding movement by means of the supporting element, comprise in each case two securing elements, in which each securing element is arranged at the location of a respective guide element.
- These securing elements can then secure the supporting element on either side underneath the guide elements.
- the supporting element can then push these securing elements aside, away from the fitting opening.
- the supporting element has then been pushed beyond the securing elements, the latter will again extend, at least partly, in front of the fitting opening on account of the returning force and form an obstacle underneath the supporting element which prevents the supporting element from being pushed out again.
- the securing element is provided on the fixing body so as to be movable
- the securing element is designed as a part of the fixing body which is elastically movable with respect to the rest of the fixing body.
- the securing element may be provided so as to be movable on the supporting element instead of so as to be movable on the fixing body.
- the fixing body may then be provided with a recess
- the securing element may be designed in such a manner that, during the sliding movement during the installation of the supporting element, the securing element is first pushed towards its second position by pressing the supporting element against the fixing body and is then deflected into the recess at the location of the recess.
- the securing element may in this case be configured as a part of the supporting element which is elastically movable with respect to the rest of the supporting element, at least partly protrudes with respect to the rest of the supporting element in its first position and extends substantially in line with the rest of the supporting element in its second position.
- the securing element and the recess preferably have a dimension, at right angles to the direction of the sliding movement, which essentially corresponds to the distance between the guide elements. Furthermore, preferably, an edge of this recess, which extends substantially at right angles to the direction of the sliding movement, supports the securing element essentially along its entire length in order to provide sufficient support for the supporting element when it is being secured into this recess by means of its securing element.
- the securing element of a screen device furthermore preferably comprises an engagement element for moving the securing element from its first position into its second position by hand.
- an engagement element for moving the securing element from its first position into its second position by hand.
- the securing element may also be arranged in such a way that it is moved towards its second position by means of a second returning force, when it is being pushed between the guide elements, after the supporting element has rested on the securing element in its first position.
- a screen device comprises a screen roller which is rotatable about an axis.
- a screen which can be rolled up and unrolled is provided on this screen roller.
- the screen roller is to be fitted in an interior space which is situated, for example, over a window or door opening. Often, this interior space is only accessible from below from inside the interior space, as a result of which vertical installation in an upward direction is desirable.
- the screen device comprises a supporting element (3) (see Figures 1-5 ) on an end side of the screen roller and a fixing body (4) (see Figures 1-5 ) which partly delimits the interior space and to which the supporting element (3) can be fastened.
- the supporting element (3) can be fastened to the fixing body (4) by means of a sliding movement and this sliding movement essentially extends at right angles to the axis of the screen roller.
- the screen device comprises two supporting elements (3), each of which is situated on one end side of the screen roller, and two fixing bodies (4) which partly delimit the interior space.
- the screen roller is fastened to the supporting elements (3) so as to be rotatably mounted, which thus define a virtual axis about which the screen roller is rotatable.
- the axis of the screen roller is in this case no real axis which extends along the length of the screen roller.
- Each fixing body (4) comprises two guide elements (5) which are arranged substantially parallel to each other, between which the supporting element (3) can be pushed in and out via a fitting opening (6).
- the fixing bodies (4) may form part of a screen casing (4, 13) which delimits the interior space on several sides (see Figures 1-5 ).
- a screen device comprises at least one securing element (7) for securing the supporting element (3) during the sliding movement.
- This securing element (7) prevents the supporting element (3) from sliding out of the guide elements (5).
- This securing element (7) will therefore also hold up the screen roller together with the screen and any optional bottom lath, so that the screen roller no longer has to be held up by hand. This facilitates installation of the screen device according to the invention.
- this securing element (7) is movable between a first position into which a returning force forces the securing element (7) and a second position into which the securing element (7) can be brought counter to the returning force and in which the securing element (7) is arranged in such a manner that, during the sliding movement during installation of the supporting element (3), it is first moved counter to the returning force towards its second position in which the supporting element (3) can slide into and out of the guide elements (5) and is subsequently, on account of the returning force, returned to its first position in which the securing element (7) prevents the supporting element (3) from sliding out of the guide elements (5).
- FIG. 1 to 8 A fixing body (4), a supporting element (3) and securing elements (7) of an embodiment of a screen device according to the invention are illustrated in Figures 1 to 8 .
- Figures 1 to 5 only show the fixing body (4) and the supporting element (3) of the screen device and Figures 6 to 8 only show a securing element (7).
- the screen device comprises two securing elements (7) which are rotatably provided on the fixing body (4), in which these securing elements (7) are movable between their first position ( Figures 1 , 3-4 , 6 ) and their second position ( Figures 5 and 8 ).
- Each securing element (7) is arranged so as to be rotatable about a rotation shaft (9) and is guided in a limiting guide slot (11) which limits the rotary movement between the first position of the securing element (7) and the second position of the securing element (7) by means of a guide shaft (10) (see Figures 6-8 ).
- the spring force provided by a spring (8) of the securing element (7) always returns the securing elements (7) to their first position.
- the spring (8) is a wire spring (8) which is fastened in a bore (22) at the bottom of the securing element (15) and which is bent around the rotation shaft (9) in order to engage further with the guide shaft (11), in such a manner that the spring force of this wire spring (8) provides a returning force and thus forces the securing element (7) towards its first position.
- the securing elements (7) are situated underneath the fitted guide elements (5), at a certain distance from the guide elements (5). In their first position ( Figures 1 , 3-4 , 6 ), they partly close off the fitting opening (6) and in their second position ( Figures 5 and 8 ), they extend completely next to the fitting opening (6).
- the guide shaft (10) is fixedly secured to the fixing body (4) and the guide slot (11) is provided in the securing element (7).
- the securing element (7) comprises an engagement element (15) for moving the securing element (7) from its first position to its second position by hand.
- FIG. 1 shows that the supporting element (3) is still situated underneath the securing elements (7) and has not yet been fastened to the fixing body (4). Due to the fact that the supporting element (3) is still situated underneath the securing elements (7), these securing elements (7) are in their first position.
- the spring force is the returning force which keeps these securing elements (7) in their first position.
- the securing elements (7) When the supporting element (3) is being pushed upwards (see Figure 2 ), the securing elements (7), as a result of touching the supporting element (3), are taken towards their second position, to a position between their first position and their second position. This is effected by the bevelled introduction surfaces (20) of the supporting element (3) (see Figure 1 ) touching the bevelled guiding surfaces (21) of the securing elements (7) (see Figures 6-8 ), so that the supporting element (3) with these introduction surfaces (20) gradually forces the securing elements (7) outwards during the sliding-in movement in order to provide clear access to the fitting opening (6).
- the securing elements (7) are moved counter to the spring force as a result of touching the supporting element (3).
- the supporting element (3) is not quite situated between the guide elements (5) yet.
- the introduction surfaces (20) of the supporting element (3) are being pushed into the fitting opening (6), they ensure that the supporting element (3) is pushed in the correct position and in a self-centring manner between the guide elements (5).
- the supporting element (3) is pushed between the guide elements (5) until the bevelled guiding surfaces (21) of the securing elements (7) are no longer touched by the supporting element (3).
- the securing elements (7) are returned to their first position by means of the spring force.
- the supporting element (3) rests on the securing surface (16) of the securing elements (7).
- the supporting element (3) comprises fastening flanges (12) which are suitable for resting on the securing elements (7). This prevents the screen roller and the supporting element (3) from being able to slide back out of the guide elements (5).
- a supporting element (3) with bevelled introduction surfaces (20) is used here. Obviously, this is not required in order to be able to position the supporting element (3) between the guide elements (5).
- Figure 4 shows that the screen device comprises additional fastening elements (14), by means of which the supporting element (3) is fastened to the fixing body (4) - after the former has been secured by means of the securing elements (7) ( Figure 3 ).
- Screws can be chosen as fastening elements (24), for example. Since the support is no longer provided by hand, but by the securing elements (7), an individual's hands are now free to take hold of the fastening elements and any tools, such as for example a screwdriver, and to fasten the supporting element (3) to the fixing body (4) by means of these fastening elements (14).
- Figures 1 to 5 show that an electrical connection has to be produced between a female connecting piece (18) and a male connecting piece (17) in such a way that power can be supplied to the screen device via a power supply cable (19).
- This first embodiment is thus very suitable for motorized screen devices which comprise a motor for carrying out the rolling/unrolling movement of the screen.
- the additional fastening elements (14) ensure a more reliable electrical connection.
- Figure 5 shows that the connection between the fixing body (4) and the supporting element (3) is interrupted again.
- the securing elements (7) have engagement elements (15) for manually moving the securing element (7) from its first position to its second position.
- the securing elements (7) are at a distance apart which is greater than the width of the fitting opening (6) and which is greater than the width of the supporting element (3), so that the supporting element (3) can be pushed out of the guide elements (5) unimpeded.
- the securing elements (7) are provided on the fixing body (4) so as to be rotatably movable. It will be clear to the person skilled in the art that, in alternative embodiments, these may also be provided on the fixing body (4) so as to be linearly movable, for example. As a further alternative, these could be provided so as to be movable on the supporting element (3) instead of so as to be movable on the fixing body (4).
