Definitions

  • the quality assurance can then also be affected by the fact that so-called cold books can arise during prolonged downtime of belonging to an adhesive binder line perfect binder, which must then be first discharged from the processing line.
  • the best remedy for this is to prevent a mismatch before inserting the book block and / or envelope into the machine.
  • the invention has for its object to produce adhesive-bound printed products, hereinafter also sometimes called book block, with different dimensions and job sizes with minimized downtime between jobs.
  • the printed products also include, for example, brochures, magazines, etc.
  • the invention is based on the example of a glued-bound printed product, which is here for example in a machine as part of a perfect binder line - the machine hereinafter for the sake of simplicity, but not exclusively, also adhesive binder or adhesive binder machine is called to first supply a printed product to a perfect binding process if it is ensured that in return the correct envelope for the operation of the Anpressoperation is available.
  • adhesive binder or adhesive binder machine is called to first supply a printed product to a perfect binding process if it is ensured that in return the correct envelope for the operation of the Anpressoperation is available.
  • the changeover process can then be easily automated between two orders.
  • the correct envelope is retrieved by the inventive provisions according to the pending for processing printed product, which in itself also the reverse process is possible that introduced due to a provided envelope the corresponding printed product resp. is released.
  • An adhesive binder consists essentially of a series of processing stations, which are usually arranged along a simple straight, round or oval strand, which in itself is also possible that the processing stations are arranged along several strands.
  • Such perfect binders are used for the production of adhesive bound booklets or book blocks for hard covers, wherein the folded sheets and / or single sheets which have been gathered to form a book block are connected to the previously processed book block back by applying an adhesive.
  • an adhesive binder usually has the following processing stations: a spine processing station, a glue application station, a station as a cover feeder, a press station for the attachment of the envelope.
  • processing stations a spine processing station, a glue application station, a station as a cover feeder, a press station for the attachment of the envelope.
  • complementary elements may be added, such as book block transport system, book block insertion station, intermediate drying, back reinforcement, and others.
  • the listed processing stations are not to be understood as exhaustive.
  • This Job C is a print product that differs only in thickness compared to the printed products of the previous job.
  • the envelope application, pressing station and delivery station in the perfect binder according to the invention are designed so that they are able to absorb differences in thickness of the printed products in the range of at least + / - 3.25 mm without further conversions.
  • the range of at least + / - 3.25 mm means that even greater differences in thickness, ie over + / - 3.25 mm compared to the original book block thickness, can be processed at any time without modification.
  • the attachment of the grooves is carried out so that the backside lettering of the cover belonging to the respective printed product has the position which corresponds to the order.
  • the groove device is designed so that such adjustments can be made continuously without affecting the timing of production resp. inhibiting the system.
  • jobs A-E arise exclusively due to the one-time stopping of the print products belonging to a new job. During the execution of the respective job, the production runs monotonously. Further empty cycles are no longer necessary.
  • An advantage of such a constellation is the fact that the ratio between the adjustment and processing section along the conveying path of the perfect binder does not have to be varied, which contributes to the simplification and stability of the system.
  • the time required on the occasion of the empty cycles for the job change according to the invention is also of a different consideration of subordinate importance than In most cases, it does not prove feasible in any case to carry out the pending conversion at the various processing stations of the perfect binder within a single empty cycle.
  • the job sizes can be designed accordingly, i. in favor of an empty-cycle-free operation, the job size can be aligned according to the provided envelopes, whereby, of course, a balance is made on a case-by-case basis, if the cancellation of the empty cycles does not result in an extension of the production for a possible completion of the job sizes.
  • Another significant advantage of the invention is the fact that printed products with a changed thickness can be produced continuously within a certain bandwidth without intervention, namely to the effect that the production of the printed products up to at least + / - 3.25 mm thickness differences can be done without interference before then if necessary to a higher resp. lower bandwidth for larger resp. smaller book block thicknesses is changed.
  • the procedure always corresponds to the above explained operating processes. This means that the respective next higher or next lower bandwidth in turn ensures a coverage of at least + / - 3.25 mm thickness differences of the printed products.
  • the mentioned high-performance system is excellently suited to provide an industrial fully integrated overall solution for digital book production, with which, as already mentioned, even in the case of very short runs, it can be operated economically.
  • the data controls and regulates the prepress, the digital printing and the further processing of the printed products in a high-performance perfect binder until the completion of the book blocks or brochures.
  • the stored control profiles can also be constructed in such a way that they can be correspondingly checked, adapted and / or directly corrected as a function of a feedback originating from a processing station.
  • the invention has the following further processes: A conversion of the processing stations resp.
  • the machines within the perfecting line for the production of the print products of the subsequent job are made by activating the control profiles before the released print products are released.
  • Each additional job to be processed uses the same process steps as those used in a previous job.
  • the style stabilities indexed by the stopped print products of the subsequent job can be minimized by electronically capturing the order of the envelopes provided by barcodes and transmitting the information derived therefrom to the main controller of the perfect binder line.
  • the changeover of the processing stations is only carried out when there are changed widths and heights of the printed product, and whose thickness is immediately greater than the minimum underlying thickness span width (at least + / - 3.25 mm).
  • this envelope is usually subjected to a preliminary folding operation corresponding to the back thickness of the book block.
  • the processing stations of the perfect binder are converted to the technical requirements of a subsequent job, the conversion taking place by the control profiles stored or calculated in the main control, and this conversion being continuous, ie dynamic , can be performed at each workstation as soon as the last print product of the previous job has left this workstation.
  • an adhesive binder in which a kingwave guided through the entire perfect binder forms the drive of the individual processing stations. It is also possible to provide an adhesive binder, at which the individual processing stations are operated with at least one individual drive.
  • the directions for carrying out the individual jobs at the individual processing stations of the perfect binder can be carried out manually or semi-manually.
  • the processing stations possibly also the other machines of the perfect binder line can be operated by control profiles, which originate from the main controller, or be provided directly from the respective drive units. These control profiles can be continuously changed or exchanged as the various jobs are processed.
  • FIG. 1 shows an adhesive binder line 100, which consists of different machines, the central perfect binder machine each having a number of processing stations for processing the printed products into books, brochures, etc.
  • this perfect binder line 100 is composed of a gathering machine 1, a downstream section with transfer elements 2, a downstream binder machine 3 with a number of operatively connected processing stations in which the printed products to books, brochures, etc., are processed, wherein a such adhesive binder machine, which is simply called adhesive binder in the jargon, at least the following processing stations comprises: a spine processing station, a glue application station, a station as a cover feeder 4, a pressing station.
  • Another machine of the perfect binder line 100 relates to the adhesive strip 3 downstream removal path 5, which also serves as a cooling section. Subsequently, these printed products are preferably fed into a three-knife trimmer 6 in which these products are subsequently processed to format by cutting foot, head and front sections preferably one after the other, or also partially simultaneously. Subsequently, a forklift 7 can be provided as another machine. Shown is in FIG. 1 also a central book data acquisition machine 8, which serves to enter the jobs (jobs) according to different criteria, resp. prepare.
  • the aforementioned processing stations of the shown perfect binder 3 within the perfect binder line 100 can basically be operated via a central operating corrugated shaft, such that it is guided substantially throughout the perfect binder, and ensures the drives of the individual processing stations within the adhesive binder.
  • the processing stations are supplemented with local digital panel.
  • the adhesive binder can also be constructed so that the processing stations with one or more individual drives, such as traveling wave motors or servomotors, operated.
  • this perfect binder works with a so-called timing adjustment, which determines the selection of the so-called "pressing time”. This can be done with a single, non-variable control profile, the optimization then takes place only by an adjustment of the pressing time due to a one-time direct input by the operator.
  • the pressure in the pressing station is therefore based on an adjustable pressing time, which need not be influenced or superimposed by other process parameters.
  • the pressing time can be adjusted by the operator by a simple manual input in the sense of an adjustment in a plane. Further adjustments due to other operating parameters do not take place.
  • the drive associated with the specified pressing time then performs its original setting monotone and unchanged during subsequent production. This can also be accomplished by the movements resulting from a backdrop scan.
  • the perfect binder can also operate on the basis of variable control profiles, i. a controlled adjustment within the processing stations, and the complementary aggregates or elements operatively connected thereto, are performed on the basis of the determined process parameters.
  • the movement of the press rails behaves as a motion profile which is a result of past parameters, i.
  • the variable movements of the press rails are parameter-dependent motion profiles.
  • the control profiles for operating the processing stations can be prepared stored in an electronic memory and assigned to predetermined processing jobs. Additionally or alternatively, the control profiles depending on predetermined processing jobs, ie depending on certain parameters, such. B. movement or movement profile of the Anpressticians, book block thickness, offset, inlet width, contact pressure, AnpressNase and / or contact pressure or contact pressure, are calculated individually and implemented as a modified control profiles directly, and / or forwarded to the main controller. Furthermore, can the servomotors used in the various processing stations have their own, preferably integrated control unit. The underlying algorithms of the control profiles are able to detect all the parameters occurring from the operation of the perfect binder, from which these algorithms can then provide a new motion profile for the respective controlled operation. Insofar as the servomotors fulfill the function of a machining-related drive unit, they can accordingly be loaded with retrieved and / or modifiable, if necessary also exchangeable control profiles.
  • the speed, force development and pressure profile of the pressing element (s) applied thereto can be adapted to the printed product to be processed or produced, as a result of which these products have a better quality.
  • At least the perfect binder preferably the entire perfect binder line, is also operated with a "motion control", which relates to the type of retrieval of the drive with respect to the individual processing stations within the perfect binder.
  • a "motion control” which relates to the type of retrieval of the drive with respect to the individual processing stations within the perfect binder.
  • the individually driven processing stations such as spine processing station, glue application station, cover feeder and pressure station of the adhesive binder 3 are connected by a transport system having a plurality of brackets for clamping book blocks, sheet stacks, collected signatures or the like, wherein the brackets are advantageously driven individually and on be guided a guideway.
  • the brackets are driven in an advantageous manner by traveling wave motors, ie linear motors, or servomotors.
  • the transport system of this perfect binder has a control unit for controlling the speeds of the respective staples.
  • each clip can be moved at its own speed on the guideway.
  • the speeds of the brackets in Controlled depending on various parameters, including the position of the clip within the bookbinding machine.
  • each processing station and the associated processing tools have an optimal processing speed.
  • FIG. 2 shows the stylized production of a first job A (for better identification by a horizontal bar complements) in perfect binder 3 with the corresponding envelopes A1 from the envelope feeder 4 (see FIG. 1 ) whose supply is monitored by a control point 102.
  • the figure further shows that the print products associated with a subsequent Job B (supplemented by a vertical bar for better identification) follow.
  • the printed products belonging to a subsequent job B are detected by barcode in the area of a control station 101, and are first stopped before they are introduced into the perfect binder 3.
  • the main controller of the perfect binder 3 releases the stopped print products of the succeeding job B (see FIG Figures 8-10 ), which are then introduced into the perfect binder and processed through its processing stations (see FIG. 11 ).
  • FIG. 12 Finally shows the introduction of another job C (for better identification by a plus sign added).
  • job C for better identification by a plus sign added.
  • job B now takes on the function of a preceding job compared to job C, while job C assumes the position of a subsequent job.
  • job C assumes the position of a subsequent job.
  • the processes remain the same. Only the provision of the envelopes to Job C is not shown in this figure. However, the type of provision is similar to the processes used for the envelopes A1 and B1.
