  • the present invention relates to a washing or cleaning agent with an antimicrobial effect which comprises at least glutamic acid-N, N-diacetic acid or its salts in connection with at least one biocidal quaternary ammonium compound.
  • Microorganisms can represent a substantial hygienic and health problem in the household.
  • the adhesion of microorganisms to surfaces is undesirable, especially in the case of pathogenic microorganisms.
  • Adhering microorganisms often lead to infections or reinfections in humans, animals and also plants.
  • Antimicrobially active compounds and compositions and their use in detergents are known in the prior art. For example, reveals WO 2013/064340 A1 a cleaning agent for hard surfaces with a pH in the range from 9 to 12, which comprises benzalkonium chloride, a salt of di- or tricarboxylic acids, sodium tripolyphosphate and water.
  • quaternary ammonium compounds are described as microbially active compounds in liquid detergents or cleaning agents.
  • a concentration-dependent effectiveness gap has been shown, in particular in the case of gram-negative bacteria. These occur in particular in damp areas, such as those prevalent in the bathroom or on damp laundry.
  • US 2010227930 A1 discloses compositions with citrate and iminodisuccinate complexing agents.
  • One object of the present invention is therefore to provide an antimicrobially active washing or cleaning agent with at least one quaternary ammonium compound in which the antimicrobial effectiveness is improved compared to known formulations.
  • glutamic acid-N, N-diacetic acid or its salts can achieve an improved antimicrobial effect of the quaternary ammonium compounds, although the glutamic acid-N, N-diacetic acid or its salts themselves are not antimicrobial.
