- Frame 40 includes base beam 44 with connection plates 46 on each end, legs 48 and connecting beam 50.
- An additional housing support frame 52 can be connected for connecting housing 22 to load cell 42.
- Weighing unit 20 sits within waste collection unit 12, as shown in Fig. 1B , and connects to waste collection system 10 only through base 14. Specifically, connection plates 46 connect between base beam 44 of weighing unit 20 and an underside of base 14, through any suitable connection means, for example, welding or bolts. Weighing unit 20 is then freestanding from base beam 44, not connecting to any other component of waste collection system 10. Once inserted and connected to base 14, weighing unit 10 could be calibrated, for example, by placing known weights into weighing unit 20.
- Top portion 30 of housing 22 is complementary in shape to rotary drum and aligns close to but not connecting to rotary drum 18, as shown in Fig. 1B .
- the distance between then top of housing 22 and rotary drum 18 can be, for example 5-25 mm, or around 12 mm.
- Front wall 24 of housing extends outward at top portion 30 to form this complementary shape and ensure that all waste travels directly from rotary drum 18 into weighing unit 20, and none gets stuck or falls into another part of waste collection system 10.
- One or more walls 24, 26, 28 can extend outward at bottom portion 32 to ensure waste does not become trapped in housing 22 after weighing and when being released to collection unit 16.

- back wall 26 is rectangular and extends generally planar but higher than the other walls. While this embodiment is shown to be shaped in this form, housing 22 top portion 30 could take other forms as long as it is shaped to align complementary to rotary drum 18 without touching rotary drum 18.
- frame 40 could take many different forms in connecting between load cell 42 and base 14.
- Weighing unit 20 works by accurately weighing waste inserted into waste collection system 10. Specifically, waste inserted into rotary drum 18 is delivered to weighing unit housing 22 upon the closing of rotary drum 18. Flaps 34 are held in a closed position by motor drive unit 38. Once waste is stably in chamber, which can be detected by, for example, a sensor, load cell 42 can accurately weigh the waste. The weight amount could be reported to a recording means and/or another system to record and/or report out the weight of the waste. Once an accurate weight measurement has been taken, the motor drive unit 38 can retract flaps 34 to allow waste to move into collection unit 16 below base 14.
- weighing unit 20 By forming weighing unit 20, and particularly housing 22 complementary to rotary drum 18, and such that it will align close to but not actually touching when installed and only connecting weighing unit 20 to base 14, weighing unit 20 can provide accurate weight measurements for waste inserted into a rotary drum waste collection system. While past waste collection systems have included weighing units, none have been suitable or able to be used with a rotary drum waste collection system. Weighing unit 20 overcomes this issue by designing all components such that they can both fit within a standard rotary drum waste collection system 10 while being freestanding (only connecting to base 14) to provide an accurate weight reading for the waste inserted. Further, the locking system can help to protect weighing unit 10 and particularly load cell 50 during an emptying operation, which can jostle the entire waste collection system 10.
- weighing unit 10 and shaping of housing 22 make it able to be used inside a waste receiving unit 12 with rotary drum 18.
- the connection only to base 14 ensures that no other parts of waste collection system 10 come into contact with weighing unit 20, making it better able to provide accurate readings.
- the close alignment of top portion 30 of housing 20 with rotary drum ensures that waste is properly guided into weighing unit 10 and does not fall outside of weighing unit 20 or get caught on other components.

Claims (14)
- - Unité de pesage (20) pour un système de collecte de déchets (10) comprenant une base (14), une unité de collecte (16) sous la base pour stocker des déchets, et une unité de réception de déchets (12) supportée sur le dessus de la base, l'unité de réception de déchets (12) comprenant un tambour rotatif cylindrique (18) pour recevoir les déchets ; l'unité de pesage (20) comprenant :un boîtier (22) définissant une goulotte de collecte pour recevoir les déchets provenant du tambour rotatif cylindrique, le boîtier étant configuré pour s'adapter à l'intérieur de l'unité de réception de déchets et comprenant une partie supérieure (30) de forme complémentaire au tambour rotatif (18) de telle sorte que la partie supérieure s'aligne à proximité du tambour rotatif mais sans s'y raccorder ;un ou plusieurs volets mobiles (34) reliés au boîtier et disposés de manière mobile à l'intérieur de celui-ci, mobiles vers une position fermée pour peser des déchets et une position ouverte pour permettre aux déchets de traverser le boîtier jusqu'à l'unité de collecte ;un châssis (40) pour relier l'unité de pesage à la base de système de collecte de déchets (14); etune cellule de pesage (42) reliant le boîtier au châssis.
- - Unité de pesage (20) selon la revendication 1, dans laquelle le châssis (40) comprend :une poutre de base (44) avec un ou plusieurs dispositifs de liaison (46) pour relier la poutre de base à la base d'unité de réception de déchets ;une poutre de liaison (50) pour relier le châssis (40) à la cellule de pesage ; etun ou plusieurs pieds (48) reliant la poutre de base à la poutre de liaison.
- - Unité de pesage selon la revendication 2, dans laquelle le ou les dispositifs de liaison (46) comprennent :
une plaque de liaison sur chaque extrémité de la poutre de base pour liaison à la base d'unité de réception de déchets (14). - - Unité de pesage selon l'une quelconque des revendications précédentes, dans laquelle le boîtier comprend :une paroi arrière généralement rectangulaire (26) ;une paroi avant (24) qui est reliée au châssis ; etdes parois latérales (28) reliant la paroi arrière et la paroi avant, les parties supérieures (30) de chaque paroi latérale ayant une courbure pour suivre la courbure du tambour rotatif (18).
- - Unité de pesage selon la revendication 4, dans laquelle la paroi avant s'étend vers l'extérieur à la partie supérieure et/ou à la partie inférieure.
- - Unité de pesage selon l'une quelconque des revendications précédentes, dans laquelle le ou les volets mobiles (34) comprennent :
des premier et second volets reliés à une unité d'entraînement motorisée (38) pour passer de la position ouverte à la position fermée et inversement. - - Unité de pesage selon l'une quelconque des revendications précédentes, et comprenant en outre un mécanisme de verrouillage pour verrouiller de manière libérable le ou les volets dans la position fermée et/ou verrouiller de manière libérable la cellule de pesage.
- - Unité de pesage selon l'une quelconque des revendications précédentes, l'unité de pesage étant alimentée par énergie solaire et/ou par batterie.
- - Système de collecte de déchets (10) comprenant une base (14), une unité de collecte (16) sous la base pour stocker des déchets, et une unité de réception de déchets (12) supportée sur le dessus de la base, un tambour rotatif cylindrique (18) pour recevoir les déchets et l'unité de pesage (20) selon l'une quelconque des revendications précédentes.
- - Système de collecte de déchets selon la revendication 9, dans lequel l'unité de pesage (20) est reliée à la base (14) de l'unité de réception de déchets et s'adapte à l'intérieur de l'unité de réception de déchets (20) de telle sorte que la partie supérieure de boîtier (30) suit le contour du tambour rotatif (18) à une distance d'environ 5 à 25 mm.
- - Système de collecte de déchets selon l'une quelconque des revendications 9 - 10, dans lequel l'unité de pesage (20) est autoportant à partir de la poutre de base (44) et est reliée aux autres composants du système de collecte de déchets uniquement par l'intermédiaire de la base de système de collecte de déchets (14).
- - Procédé d'assemblage d'un système de collecte de déchets (10) avec une unité de réception de déchets comprenant un tambour rotatif cylindrique pour recevoir les déchets, une unité de pesage selon une revendication précédente 1-8 pour peser des déchets, une base et une unité de collecte sous la base pour stocker les déchets, le procédé comprenant :monter l'unité de réception de déchets (12) sur le dessus de la base (14) ;introduire le boîtier d'unité de pesage (22) dans l'unité de réception de déchets de telle sorte que la partie supérieure de boîtier s'aligne à proximité du tambour rotatif mais sans s'y raccorder ; etrelier le châssis (40) de l'unité de pesage à la base (14) de l'unité de collecte de déchets, le châssis d'unité de pesage (40) étant relié au boîtier (22) par l'intermédiaire de la cellule de pesage (42).
- - Procédé selon la revendication 12, dans lequel l'étape de liaison du châssis de l'unité de pesage à la base de l'unité de collecte de déchets comprend relier une poutre de base (44) du châssis (40) à un côté inférieur de la base d'unité de collecte de déchets (14).
- - Procédé selon l'une quelconque des revendications 12 et 13, et comprenant en outre l'étape consistant à :
étalonner l'unité de pesage (42).
