Definitions
- the present invention relates to a finger protection device for a pivoting hinged door.
- One solution involves covering the gap between the secondary closing edge of the pivoting door leaf on the opposite hinge side and the door frame with a textile protective roller blind, which is attached to the door frame on one side and to the pivoting door leaf on the other.
- Such a protective roller blind is, for example, in GB 2 164 690
- the roller blind housing which contains a shaft for winding the textile roller blind, is equipped with a slotted nut.
- a V-shaped bracket is attached to the door frame, into which the slotted nut can be inserted to hold the housing.
- the free edge of the roller blind is provided with a rigid end strip, which is screwed to the door leaf. Thus, only the housing, but not the end strip, can be easily removed.
- grab bars are installed in addition to or as an alternative to door handles, for example, on emergency exits, escape doors, or wheelchair-accessible doors. Depending on their application and function, these grab bars are referred to as panic bars, push-bars, or other terms.
- the grab bars can usually be pushed down and/or two parts of the grab bars can be pressed together to open the door.
- the grab bars typically extend across a large part of the door width. Often, they extend across the entire width of the door leaf.
- a mounting profile 4' also called a fastening strip, is provided, which is attached to the door leaf F.
- the free end 20 of the roller blind 2 is connected to a suspension profile 3, also called a suspension strip.
- the suspension profile 3 can be Hook the roller blind into the rear grip of the 4' mounting profile to easily and detachably attach it to the pivoting door leaf.
- This device has the advantage that the roller blind can be easily removed and reattached without special tools, for example, if the door leaf needs to be removed.
- the disadvantage is that on doors with handle bars, there is often insufficient space for installation, as sufficient clearance from the handle bar is usually required.
- CN 201170043Y discloses a finger protection device with a curved mounting profile.
- JP 2008231673 A shows a finger protection device with an angled mounting profile.
- the fastening means of the roller blind panel can be releasably connected to the mounting profile, so that the roller blind panel covers a gap between the door leaf and the door frame when the finger protection device is used as intended.
- the mounting profile has a support leg for supporting and fastening to the door leaf.
- the mounting profile is designed as an angle profile and has a fastening leg protruding from the support leg for releasably fastening the fastening means of the roller blind panel.
- the door-side mounting element of the finger guard can be relatively narrow. It finds sufficient space next to an already installed grab bar. This is important because the doors are supplied with grab bars, and finger guards are usually only installed afterward, often years later.
- the roller blind can be attached to the door leaf in a variety of ways.
- all of the above-mentioned fastening methods can be used, e.g., screwing or clipping.
- the fastening element can be hooked into the fastening leg to secure the roller blind between the door frame and the door leaf. Thanks to the spring-loaded restoring force of the roller blind, the roller blind is thereby tensioned.
- This solution utilizes the advantages of the design according to Figure 2 ; ie the roller blind can be easily attached and removed again without the need for special tools and without the risk of damaging individual parts.
- the fastening means has a hook
- the mounting profile has a hook receptacle. This is an easy-to-use device.
- the fastening element has a substantially U-shaped cross-section with a first leg, a second leg, and a web connecting the two legs.
- the first leg serves as a hook, and the second leg is longer than the first.
- the fastening element has an outward-facing groove into which the end strip is inserted. This facilitates the attachment of the roller blind, is visually appealing, and minimizes its dimensions.
- the mounting leg can be at any angle other than 0° to the support leg. However, it is preferably at least approximately perpendicular to the support leg. This is a space-saving solution.
- the fastening leg is directly adjacent to the support leg.
- the mounting profile features a connecting leg that connects the support leg and the fastening leg. This allows the mounting profile to be installed even in the smallest or no available space between the handle bar and the door leaf edge.
- the mounting profile can also be used with a handle bar that extends across the entire width of the door leaf.
- the connecting leg is arranged at an angle of greater than 90° to both the support leg and the fastening leg.
- the space available is particularly optimal when the angle between the connecting leg and the support leg, as well as the angle between the connecting leg and the fastening leg, is approximately 135°.
- the mounting profile is preferably formed in one piece and preferably consists of metal, in particular aluminum, or a plastic. In one embodiment, it is formed in two or more pieces, at least in one longitudinal dimension. This means that it extends from an upper region of the door leaf to the top of the handle bar in one piece and from the underside of the handle bar to a lower region of the door leaf in a second piece.
- the mounting profile in this embodiment is also preferably formed in one piece, i.e., the two mentioned pieces are each one piece.
- the fastening leg tapers towards its free end, forming a hook receptacle. This facilitates the hanging of the roller blind or its fastening device.
- the hook receptacle forms a straight, but thinner extension of the fastening leg. This facilitates one-piece production and, thanks to the appropriate design of the fastening leg, ensures the tightest possible hooking. Preferred features for the corresponding realization of the latter advantage are listed below.
- the hook receptacle has a lug at its free end pointing away from the support leg.
- a thicker portion of the fastening leg forms a first stop surface
- the hook receptacle forms a second stop surface for the fastening means.
- the fastening means encloses the hook receptacle. All of these features, individually and in combination, prevent the suspended suspension profile from wobbling.
- the support leg is guided laterally with its free end face against the handle bar, possibly up to the stop, and then fastened to the door leaf.
- the support leg has at least one recess for accommodating the handle bar attached to the door leaf.
- Such a recess can also be installed on-site by a technician in the support leg.
- the support leg is preferably designed such that the recess in the leg can be broken out, e.g., as a predetermined breaking point, or can be created by milling or sawing.
- Figure 1 The basic principle of a finger protection device, which also forms the basis for the device according to the invention, is shown.
- Figure 1 shows a door with a door frame R and a door leaf F. The door hinge is not visible in this figure.
- the finger protection device S extends almost over the entire height of the door leaf F and thus bridges the gap which occurs between the door frame R and the door leaf F when the door is open.
- FIG. 2 An embodiment of a finger protection device is clearly visible. It essentially consists of a roller blind.
- a shaft 21 is arranged in a roller blind housing 1.
- a roller blind web 2 is wound onto the shaft 21.
- the roller blind web 2 is preferably made of a textile material.
- the shaft 21 is spring-loaded, so that an unwound portion of the roller blind web 2 is automatically retracted.
- the free end of the roller blind 2 is reinforced with an end strip 20.
- This end strip can be formed by thickening the roller blind 2 or by a wire. Typically, however, the free edge of the roller blind 2 is connected to a metal or plastic strip.
- This end strip 20 is held in a suspension profile 3, which is hook-shaped.
- the roller blind housing 1 is typically attached to the door frame R.
- a mounting strip 10 is attached to the roller blind housing 1 or integrally connected to it.
- a mounting profile 4' is screwed to the counterpart of the door, in this case, the door frame R.
- the fastening screws are designated by reference number 5 in the figures.
- the suspension profile 3 is hooked into the mounting profile 4' to secure the roller blind. Thanks to the restoring force of the roller blind, the roller blind panel 2 is tensioned in any position of the door leaf F when hooked in. It covers the gap between the door frame R and the door leaf F.
- a mounting profile 4 is now designed as an angle profile. It is preferably formed in one piece and preferably made of metal or plastic. It preferably extends across the entire width of the roller blind 2, i.e., across approximately the entire height of the door leaf F.
- the roller blind housing 1 and the suspension profile 3 can be designed in the same way as in the embodiment according to Figure 2 .
- the roller blind web 2 is held fixed by its end strip 20 in the suspension profile 3.
- the suspension profile 3 has a base body which has a substantially U-shaped cross-section.
- a first leg of the U-shaped base body forms a suspension hook.
- a second, longer leg has a groove 31 at its free end. This is designed as a holder.
- the opening of the groove 31 is located on the side of the second leg opposite the suspended hook and is directed towards the roller blind housing 1.
- the groove 31 preferably extends over the entire length of the suspension profile 3.
- the suspension profile 3 is preferably of the same length as the mounting profile 4 and as the roller blind housing 1. At least the suspension profile 3 and The groove 31 is of the same length as the roller track 2.
- the end strip 20 is inserted into the groove 31 of the suspension profile 3. It is pivotally held therein.
- the mounting profile 4 is designed differently than in the embodiment according to Figure 2 . It is an angle profile. It has, as in Figure 5 clearly visible, has a support leg 40 with which the mounting profile 4 rests on the door leaf and is fastened to the door leaf F by means of screws 5 or other fastening means, e.g. by gluing. In the Figures 6 and 7 the support surface 400 can be seen, with which the support leg 40 rests on the surface of the door leaf F.
- the mounting profile 4 transitions from the support leg 40 into a connecting leg 41 and from there into a fastening leg 42.
- the fastening leg 42 projects outward from the support leg 40, i.e., away from the door leaf surface. It preferably runs at least approximately at a right angle to the support leg 40.
- the connecting leg 41 runs at an angle to the two remaining legs 40, 42 and thus preferably forms an angle greater than 90°. Preferably, the angle is approximately 135°.
- the support leg 40 can, for example, be formed with plane-parallel surfaces or it can, for example, have decorations and/or mounting aids such as one or more grooves or channels 401 on the side facing outwards, away from the door leaf F. These preferably run in the longitudinal direction of the mounting profile 4.
- the mounting profile 4 has a uniform cross-section across its entire length. It is preferably an extruded profile.
- the support leg 40 and the connecting leg 41 are preferably of the same thickness.
- the fastening leg 42 is thicker, tapering toward its free end. It tapers in two opposing steps, which are offset from one another.
- the tapered part of the fastening profile 42 forms a hook receptacle 43 for the fastening means of the roller blind 2, i.e., for the suspension profile 3.
- the suspension profile 43 rests with its second leg against a first stop surface 420 of the thicker part of the fastening leg 42.
- the stop surface 420 is in Figure 6
- the hook of the suspension profile 3 engages around the free end of the hook receptacle 43 and the first shorter leg of the suspension profile 43 rests on the surface of the thinner extension of the fastening leg 42 facing away from the roller blind housing 1.
- the free end of the shorter leg of the suspension profile 3 abuts a shoulder between the hook receptacle 43 and the thicker part of the fastening leg 42. This shoulder forms a second stop surface 432.
- At the free end of the hook receptacle there is a nose 430 facing towards the roller blind housing 1.
- the nose 430 preferably forms a right angle with the rest of the hook receptacle 43.
- the nose 430 preferably extends into the plane defined by the first stop surface 420.
- the nose 430 together with the two aforementioned stop surfaces 420, 432, prevents the suspended suspension profile 3 from wobbling.
- the suspension profile 3 can also be fixed in this suspended position with one or more screws 30.
- the mounting profile 4 enables the roller blind 2 to be hung perpendicular to the door surface. This makes it easier to hang the blind.
- the main advantage is that the mounting profile 4 requires relatively little space and can therefore also be arranged next to an existing handle bar H of a door. This is shown in the Figures 3 and 5 clearly visible.
- the contact leg 40 of the mounting profile 4 is provided with a recess 6 into which the end of the handle bar H engages.
- the recess 6 can extend to the connecting leg 41 or even to the fastening leg 42.
- the mounting profile 4 is also divided into two pieces, which are arranged above and below the handle bar H.
- the fastening strip 20 and the roller blind 2 are formed in one piece and thus also extend over that area of the handle bar H which separates the two pieces of the mounting profile 4 from each other.
- the finger protection device according to the invention and the mounting profile according to the invention enable the use of a finger protection device even on door leaves with handle bars.
