Definitions
- the present invention relates to the field of outdoor shelters installed for example in a garden or on a parking lot, and more particularly to such shelters used as “carport”.
- carport has been used more and more in recent years. It refers to a carport, intended to protect it from bad weather.
- the carport is today a perfect alternative to the practical and economical faith of classic garages.
- These shelters are typically made up of vertical posts supporting a structure covered with a roof (tarpaulins, tiles, etc.), thus making it possible to shelter cars against bad weather.
- the popularity of these shelters is increasing more and more, which opens up many perspectives and therefore a plurality of uses.
- the carport shelter can be used to house various rolling vehicles, or even serve as a basic structure for a pergola or veranda.
- the EP 1 679 410 describes a carport comprising a metal structure with four vertical posts supporting two by two a curved beam. A plurality of cross sections are attached to the joists and support a polycarbonate sheet. The end profiles each comprise a part of semi-circular section forming a gutter.
- the curved joists are fixed at their ends to the columns.
- the posts end with a spherical head which receives in its interior a rod mounted to pivot around a horizontal axis placed in the center of the spherical head.
- the rod extends radially from the center of the sphere beyond the outer diameter of the spherical head, through a cutout which allows it to pivot in the vertical plane around the horizontal axis.
- the beam rests on both sides on the spherical head by its open end.
- the screw goes through the open end of the joist and is housed in a guide fixed in an opening in the upper wall of the joist.
- the system presented is interesting because the pivoting mounting of the central rod allows angular adjustment of the joists.
- the ball head can pose assembly difficulties because it allows a displacement of the beam in two dimensions, which can cause alignment problems during assembly.
- the gutters include, at the level of the posts, openings in which a pipe is placed which opens into an opening in the upper part of the spherical head, so that water can flow by gravity through the latter and then into the post, to the ground.
- the object of the present invention is to provide a shelter of improved design, which does not have the drawbacks of known shelters.
- the present invention relates to a shelter, in particular a carport, according to claim 1.
- This shelter comprises load-bearing members, joists attached to the load-bearing members and a cover resting on the joists. Each joist is supported at its ends by a respective load-bearing element.
- At least one beam is supported at one end by an articulated assembly comprising a mounting part with a clevis carried by the end of the beam, which cooperates with a mounting support associated with the supporting element to form a pivot link.
- the assembly part comprises a base integral with the joist and two flanges extending in the extension of the joist.
- the mounting bracket includes two side faces, each wing being pivotally mounted on a respective side face of the mounting bracket.
- a clamping means which comprises a link, one end of which is anchored in the mounting part and the other end, called the clamping end, cooperates with a part (called the guide) integral with the beam.
- the present invention thus proposes a concept of shelter in which the articulated assembly comprises a pivot-to-clevis function, which allows pivoting in a single plane and avoids the mounting problems encountered with shelter models of the type described in EP 1 679 410 .
- the clamping function is decoupled from the pivot function, and is incorporated into the end of the beam and the mounting part. This frees up the interior space of the mounting bracket to leave a free passage, for example for the drainage of rainwater.
- it is possible to provide a passage in the mounting support which does not include any mechanical parts, which avoids the blocking problems mentioned above compared to the models of shelters described in the EP 1 679 410 and EP 3,147,428 .
- the shelter preferably includes at least one gutter extending along a lower edge of the cover to collect rainwater.
- the invention allows easy drainage of rainwater through the mounting bracket.
- This advantageously comprises a central passage, preferably substantially vertical, opening on one side into the upper face of the mounting support and on the other side into an internal passage. of the load-bearing element.
- a pipe for example made of polymer, is then provided to connect a discharge orifice in the gutter to the central passage of the mounting support.
- the pipe may extend from the drain port of the gutter through the central passage in the mounting bracket, to an internal water discharge pipe provided in the gutter. post.
- the guide piece integral with the beam preferably comprises a through passage connecting a rear face to a front face, and the link extends through this passage beyond the latter, and is blocked in abutment (in direct engagement or indirect) against the part (in particular against the front face).
- the guide piece may include a hook through which it is engaged in an opening in the wall of the beam.
- the link of the clamping means is a rod, one end of which carries an eye and the other is threaded, the eye cooperating with a yoke fixed in the mounting part and the clamping end being blocked by a nut in abutment against the front face of the guide piece.
- the passage through the guide piece is open laterally between the front and rear faces.
- the guide piece comprises, in its front face, a concave portion into which the through passage opens.
- a half-round shaped insert is housed in the concave portion, the insert comprising a radial hole aligned with the through passage.
- the rod passes through the through-passage and into the hole in the insert, and the nut is screwed into abutment against the flat face of the insert.
- the insert can thus be oriented in the guide piece, so that the rod is mainly stressed axially.
- clamping means the main function of which is to allow, after assembly, the final clamping at the beam / assembly part interface.
- the joists are typically hollow sections, and are generally arched.
- the roof is preferably supported by intermediate joists fixed to the joists.
- the gutter is advantageously integrated into an external intermediate beam.
- Coverage can be of any suitable nature. It may be a film or sheet following the contour of the beams, in particular a polymer film. But other materials and other types of elements are possible, the function being to shield the rain and direct the water towards the gutters.
- the shelter In conventional uses for carports, decks, etc., the shelter generally has a rectangular shape.
- the load-bearing members are columns, and the joists are supported at each end (on a respective column) by the articulated assembly described above.
- the shelter can be leaned against a wall (which therefore forms a load-bearing element).
- the joists are then supported, on the wall side, by individual or common fixing brackets, fixed to the wall.
- Wall joist brackets can be standard or combined with this hinged assembly.
- the joists are fixed to respective posts, each via a respective articulated assembly.
- the articulated assembly can be easily adapted to be fixed on all types of supports and supporting elements, whether it is desired to evacuate water through the articulated assembly, or not.
- the Fig. 1 presents a first embodiment of a shelter 10 (or "carport") according to the invention, intended to house cars but can also be used to house various rolling vehicles or even a terrace, motorhome, doorway, storage (wood etc ...) or jacuzzi, see also serve as a basic structure for a pergola or a veranda.
- a shelter 10 or "carport” according to the invention, intended to house cars but can also be used to house various rolling vehicles or even a terrace, motorhome, doorway, storage (wood etc ...) or jacuzzi, see also serve as a basic structure for a pergola or a veranda.
- the shelter 10 comprises two pairs of support posts 12 resting on the ground and extending substantially vertically. Each pair of posts 12 supports an arched beam 14, or "hanger", of convex shape. Intermediate beams 16, transverse - also called sleepers - are fixed on the hangers 14 and support a cover 18. In the Fig. 1 , the broken lines show the positions of the beams by transparency through the cover 18.
- the cover 18 is here a polymer film, for example a film a few millimeters thick.
- a distinction is made between the internal crossbars 16.1 and the external crossbars 16.2, which incorporate a gutter.
- These structural elements, posts 12, hangers 14 and cross members are here made of an aluminum alloy, but other metals or materials with suitable strength can be used.
- Cover 18 follows the curvature of hangers 14.
- Cover 18 can be a flexible transparent or colored polycarbonate film, or another polymer such as PVC or polyester.
- the cover 18 can also be made of a sheet of glass, metal or wood. More generally, the cover can consist of one or more films or sheets, made of any suitable materials.
- Each hanger 14 is fixed at its two ends to the top of a post 12 by means of an articulated assembly which will be described using the figures 2 to 6 .
- On the Fig. 2 we recognize a hanger 14 and a support post 12 (the height of which is shortened in the figure).
- the articulated assembly 20 mainly comprises two parts which cooperate to form a fixing allowing adjustment along a horizontal pivot axis: a mounting part 22 associated with the hanger 14 and a support part 24 associated with the support post 12.
- a mounting part 22 associated with the hanger 14 and a support part 24 associated with the support post 12.
- the part of assembly 22 and the support part 24 are preferably metal parts, e.g. in aluminium.
- the mounting part 22 is a U-shaped part which comprises a base 26 integral with the hanger 14 and two parallel wings 28 extending in the extension of the hanger 14.
- the mounting bracket 24 forms a head block on the post 12, which includes two opposing side faces 30, each wing 28 of the mounting piece 22 being pivotally mounted on a respective side face 30.
- a screw 32 engages from the outside through the wing 28 and is screwed into the lateral face 30.
- the two screws 32 are aligned and define a substantially horizontal pivot axis. Note that the screws 32 are short and sized to screw the wings 28 into the faces 30, and form a pivot axis, without protruding inside the mounting bracket (or slightly). The screws 32 therefore do not block the interior space of the mounting bracket.
- the mounting part 22 forms a yoke which pivots on the mounting support 24. This pivot connection allows angular adjustment of the hanger in a substantially vertical plane.
- the mounting support 24 comprises a base 34 of circular section engaged in the upper opening 36 of the post 12, and fixed therein, for example by a screw.
- One or more vertical ribs can be provided on the base, which engage in vertical grooves in the entry section of the post 12.
- a clamping means 38 which comprises a link 40, one end of which is anchored in the mounting part 22 and the other end, called the clamping end, cooperates with a part integral with the hanger 14.
- the link 40 is here constituted by a rod, one end 42 of which is threaded, and the other end carries an eye 44.
- the eye 44 cooperates with a yoke 46 fixed in the mounting part 22, allowing pivoting about a substantially horizontal axis.
- the yoke 46 can for example be blocked by conjugating shapes in an internal wall of the mounting part 22.
- the rod 40 engages in a guide 48, also called tie rod, fixedly mounted on the hanger 14.
- the guide 48 has a metal body comprising a through hole 50 for the rod 40, connecting a rear face 48.1 (proximal to the pivot point of the rod 40) to an opposite front face 48.2.
- the guide 48 is placed inside the hanger 14, which includes an opening 52 in its upper face.
- the guide 48 is fixed inside the hanger by a hook 54 engaged on the edge of the opening 52.
- the rod 40 thus passes through the hole 50 in the guide 48 and a nut 56 is screwed onto the part of its threaded free end 42 projecting from the guide 48, against the front face 48.2.
- the tightening of the nut 56 in abutment against the guide 48 allows a solid assembly of the articulated assembly 20, while allowing the adjustment of the tension during assembly (tension of last tightening), making it possible in particular to take up games of Assembly.
- the guide 48 “here has a body which has a hole 50" which is through, connecting the face rear to the front face, and which is also open laterally (between the two front and rear faces).
- the hook 54 "will also be recognized.
- the guide 48" comprises on its front face 48.2 "a semi-cylindrical concave portion 51, in which the passage 50" opens, and which receives a metal insert 55.
- the insert 55 is a half-round segment (full half-cylinder) whose curvature corresponds to that of the concave portion 51.
- the insert 55 is housed in the concave portion 51 and comprises a transverse passage 53, in its center, for the rod 40.
- the passage 53 is therefore positioned between the two axial ends of the insert 55, and oriented along a radius, perpendicular to the flat face 55.1 of the insert 55.
- the passage 53 is therefore aligned with the passage 50 "in the guide 48. ", which is also centered.
- the nut 56 rests on the flat face 55.1 of the insert 55.
- the rod 40 therefore passes here through the through hole 50 "of the guide 48 'and is blocked by the insert 55. Thanks to the cooperating cylindrical surfaces, the insert 55 can pivot and adapt to the direction of rod 40 so that rod 40 is essentially axially biased.
- the mounting piece 22 is shown in more detail at Fig. 5 , where we will recognize the base 26 and the two wings 28 forming a yoke.
- the base 26 is formed by a profiled section 58 open at the base of the wings 28, behind an internal transverse wall 60.
- the profiled section is shaped to match the outer contour of the end of the hanger 14.
- the transverse wall 60 extends substantially perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the mounting part 22, and comprises an opening 62 for fixing the yoke. 46 cooperating with the eye 44 of the rod 40.
- Reference numeral 64 denotes a curved tab extending from a lower edge of the transverse wall 60, on the side of the wings 28. This tab 64 has a curvature which corresponds to the curvature of the mounting bracket on which it sits. 'press and slide.
- the mounting piece 24 with its base 34 and the head portion 25 which comprises the two opposite side faces 30, between which extends a central portion 27, following the contour of the side faces 30.
- the side faces 30 are substantially flat and parallel.
- the tapped hole 29 for the screw 32 is positioned substantially in the middle of each face 30, so that the holes 29 are aligned.
- the head 25 is a solid part which is machined so as to free the flat faces 30 and a central part 27 whose outer surface is generally cylindrical.
- the reference sign 31 designates a substantially vertical central passage in the mounting support 24, intended here for the flow of rainwater. In this case, this passage 31 is machined in the mass of the support 24 which therefore has good mechanical rigidity. It will be appreciated that the design of the present articulated assembly 20 is such that this central passage 31 is not encumbered by mechanical elements, in particular because the clevis mounting part 22 is fixed by the faces 30 to the outside.
- each side face 30 is provided with a flange 66 (projecting relative to the face 30) which extends over part of its periphery, and therefore limits the movement of the mounting part 22 around its axis.
- the flange 66 comprises a substantially horizontal lower part 66.1 linked to a substantially vertical rear part. This offers a deflection angle ⁇ of almost 180 °, even if in practice a more restricted angle is sufficient.
- the flange 66 also offers the advantage of being able to take up part of the forces exerted by the mounting part 22 on the mounting support 24. To do this, the edge of the wings 28, beyond the screw 32, is configured to. extend to the rim 66, and be in contact with it, in particular in the curved zone which is reinforced (see Fig. 2 ).
- each hanger 14 is fixed to a respective post 12 by means of such an articulated assembly 20.
- the cross members 16.1 are attached to the hangers, typically by screwing; these are profiles that aim to support the roof.
- the outer crosspieces 16.2 allow the cover 18 to be fixed and incorporate a gutter.
- the cross member 16.2 includes a first profile defining a circular segment 70, and a second widened U-shaped profile 72 forming a channel / gutter for collecting rainwater.
- the two profiles 70 and 72 are joined by their outer edges.
- the first profile 70 is provided for mounting the outer beam 16.2 and cooperates with a fixing lug 74.
- the latter comprises a lower face, by which it is applied to the hanger 14, and an upper face with a groove 76 whose curvature substantially corresponds to the external curvature of the first profile 70 of the external beam 16.2.
- the hanger 14 preferably has a generally rectangular or square shape, and comprises a longitudinal groove on its upper face, in which the fixing tab 74 is mounted.
- the tab 74 can be moved in this groove before its fixing, to adjust the height.
- the hanger 14 has a rectangular shape with a rounded base (on the underside).
- the gutter 72 includes two inwardly facing edges, which may be flat or slightly curved.
- the inner edge 72.1 serves to fix the cover 18.
- Each external cross member 16.2 comprises at least one orifice 78 for evacuating rainwater which is arranged vertically from the post 12.
- a flexible pipe 80 made of polymer or rubber extends from the orifice 78 through the central passage 31 of the tube. mounting support 24, to open into an evacuation pipe 82, also made of polymer, placed inside the post 12.
- the pipe 82 ends in an elbow, which opens laterally out of the post 12 (the bottom of the post no. is not shown in the Figure).
- the Fig. 7 shows a sectional view similar to that of the Fig. 3 , but which is distinguished by the realization of the clamping means. Identical or similar elements are therefore represented by the same reference signs.
- the tightening link, designated 40 ' is here a cable which has one end anchored 44' in the mounting piece 22 (at wall 60). The other end 42 'is blocked by a cable tensioner 49 fixed in an opening 52 in the upper wall of the hanger 14.
- Fig. 8 shows an embodiment of the invention, in which the shelter is supported on one side by posts 12, and on the other side by a wall 90. At the posts, the ends of hangers 14 are supported by brackets. articulated assemblies 20, but on the side of the wall the hangers are supported by brackets or angles 92, fixed to the wall 90.
- articulated assemblies 20 are supported by posts 12, it will be noted that the articulated assembly can be fixed on any kind of support, by screwing or welding. Thus one could fix an articulated assembly 10 on a mounting support, such as a bracket, angle iron or plate, which is itself fixed to a wall, low wall, or other metallic, masonry or wooden structure.
- a mounting support such as a bracket, angle iron or plate, which is itself fixed to a wall, low wall, or other metallic, masonry or wooden structure.
