Abstract

Es wird eine Umwicklung aus einem Faserverbundkunststoff für einen Raumfahrtbehältermantel (8) beschrieben. Um eine Umwicklung der eingangs geschilderten Art so auszugestalten, dass insbesondere im Zusammenhang mit Raumfahrbehältern trotz guter Festigkeitseigenschaften sowie einer einfachen Fertigung mithilfe gängiger Faserwickelverfahren ein möglichst vollständiges Verglühen beim Wiedereintritt in die Erdatmosphäre gegeben ist, wird vorgeschlagen, dass die Umwicklung wenigstens ein Umwicklungsband (1) aus einer Kunststoffmatrix (2) umfasst, in die wenigstens zwei in einer Bandquerrichtung (y) übereinander angeordnete Bandlagen (3, 4) aus jeweils mehreren, sich in Bandlängsrichtung (x) unidirektional erstreckenden Faserbündeln (5) eingebettet sind, wobei in Bandlängsrichtung (x) benachbarte Faserbündel (5) einer Bandlage (3, 4) in je Wicklungswindung wenigstens einmal vorgesehenen Stoßbereichen (6) unmittelbar aneinandergrenzen und wobei in Bandquerrichtung (y) benachbarte Faserbündel (5) unter Ausbildung eines Überlappungsbereiches (7) in Bandlängsrichtung (x) zueinander versetzt sind.

Umwicklung aus einem Faserverbundkunststoff für einen
Raumfahrtbehältermantel
Technisches Gebiet
Die Erfindung bezieht sich auf eine Umwicklung aus einem Faserverbundkunststoff für einen Raumfahrtbehältermantel sowie auf ein Umwicklungsband für eine solche Umwicklung.
Stand der Technik
Raumfahrtbehältermäntel, wie diese unter anderem bei Druckbehältern von z.B. Raketenstufen, Satelliten etc. eingesetzt werden, sind aus Gründen der Fluiddichtheit regelmäßig aus Aluminium gefertigt und weisen als primär strukturgebendes und kräfteaufnehmendes Bauteil eine Umwicklung aus einem Faserverbundkunststoff auf. Ein derartiger Druckbehälter ist beispielsweise aus der US 20120241459 A1 bekannt.
Bei der Fertigung solcher, als COPV (composite overwrapped pressure vessel) bezeichneter Druckbehälter wird der Raumfahrtbehältermantel üblicherweise einem Faserwickelverfahren unterworfen, wobei Fasern, beispielsweise Kohlenstofffasern, mit einem Reaktionsharz vorimprägniert und anschließend dem zu umwickelnden Behältermantel über ein vorgegebenes Wickelmuster zugeführt werden. Eine derartige Umwicklung aus Faserverbundkunststoffen ist mit besonders vorteilhaften Festigkeitssteigerungen aufgrund der hohen Zugfestigkeit des Faserstranges bei gleichzeitig geringem Gewicht des Druckbehälters verbunden. Aufgrund der üblicherweise hohen Abbrandtemperaturen der Fasern stellen diese beim Wiedereintritt in die Erdatmosphäre eine Isolationsschicht für den metallischen Raumfahrtbehältermantel dar, was verglichen mit einem umwicklungsfreien Behältermantel ein schlechteres Verglühverhalten bedingt. Dadurch, dass weder die Umwicklung noch der darunterliegende Behältermantel beim Wiedereintritt in die Erdatmosphäre ausreichend abgebaut werden können, ergibt sich das erhöhte Risiko von auf der Erdoberfläche auftreffendem Weltraumschrott.
Darstellung der Erfindung
Der Erfindung liegt somit die Aufgabe zugrunde, eine Umwicklung der eingangs geschilderten Art so auszugestalten, dass insbesondere im Zusammenhang mit Raumfahrbehältern trotz guter Festigkeitseigenschaften sowie einer einfachen Fertigung mithilfe gängiger Faserwickelverfahren ein möglichst vollständiges Verglühen beim Wiedereintritt in die Erdatmosphäre gegeben ist.
Die Erfindung löst die gestellte Aufgabe dadurch, dass die Umwicklung wenigstens ein Umwicklungsband aus einer Kunststoffmatrix umfasst, in die wenigstens zwei in einer Bandquerrichtung übereinander angeordnete Bandlagen aus jeweils mehreren, sich in Bandlängsrichtung unidirektional erstreckenden Faserbündeln eingebettet sind, wobei in Bandlängsrichtung benachbarte Faserbündel einer Bandlage in je Wicklungswindung wenigstens einmal vorgesehenen Stoßbereichen unmittelbar aneinandergrenzen und wobei in Bandquerrichtung benachbarte Faserbündel unter Ausbildung eines Überlappungsbereiches in Bandlängsrichtung zueinander versetzt sind.
Zufolge dieser Merkmale wird im Gegensatz zu herkömmlichen Faser-Matrix- Umwicklungen, die einen einzelnen in eine Kunststoffmatrix eingebetteten Endlosfaserstrang aufweisen, eine Umwicklung bereitgestellt, die sich durch mehrere Faserbündel auszeichnet, welche durch die Kunststoffmatrix so miteinander verbunden sind, dass die Faserbündel einer Bandlage in den Stoßbereichen unmittelbar aneinandergrenzen. Im Sinne der Erfindung wird unter einem Faserbündel eine Gruppe von Einzelfasern verstanden, die am Beginn und Ende des Faserbündels geschnitten sind bzw. enden. Dadurch kann das Verglühverhalten des umwickelten Raumfahrtbehälters beim Wiedereintritt in die Erdatmospähre entscheidend verbessert werden, weil nach Pyrolyse der Kunststoffmatrix die darin eingebetteten Faserbündel durch aerodynamische Scherkräfte wirksam herausgelöst werden können, sodass in weiterer Folge auch der darunterliegende Behältermantel für ein zuverlässiges Abschmelzen ausreichend freigelegt und nicht durch isolierend wirkende Fasern am Abschmelzen gehindert wird. Obwohl aufgrund der lediglich durch die Kunststoffmatrix gebildeten Stoßbereiche zusätzliche Spannungskonzentrationen in die Umwicklung eingebracht werden, kann in der Praxis dennoch eine ausreichende Steifigkeit bzw. Festigkeit der Umwicklung erreicht werden, wenn das Umwicklungsband wenigstens zwei in einer Bandquerrichtung übereinander angeordnete Bandlagen aufweist, wobei in Bandquerrichtung benachbarte Faserbündel in Bandlängsrichtung unter Ausbildung eines Überlappungsbereiches zueinander versetzt sind. Obwohl durch das Auftrennen eines durchgehenden Faserstranges in einzelne Faserbündel zunächst die Zugfestigkeit des Umwicklungsbandes herabgesetzt wird, kann durch die erfindungsgemäßen Überlappungen nicht nur die für eine Umwicklung erforderliche Zugfestigkeit hergestellt, sondern auch der Effekt von Spannungskonzentration verringert werden. Um dabei im Zusammenhang mit Raumfahrbehältermänteln ein problemloses scherkräftebedingtes Fierauslösen der Faserbündel zu ermöglichen, muss die Anzahl der Faserbündel je Bandlage so gewählt werden, dass sich je Wicklungswindung des Umwicklungsbandes, also auch je Wicklungswindung um den zu umwickelnden Raumfahrtbehältermantel wenigstens ein Stoßbereich ergibt. Um möglichst gute Festigkeitswerte für die Umwicklung zu erreichen, empfiehlt es sich, dass sich der Überlappungsbereich in Bandlängsrichtung über wenigstens 1 cm erstreckt. Zufolge dieser Maßnahmen sind die Stoßbereiche der in Bandquerrichtung benachbarten Faserbündel und damit einhergehend auch die dort auftretenden Spannungskonzentrationsstellen um wenigstens 1cm in Bandlängsrichtung versetzt, sodass eine verbesserte Spannungsverteilung in Bandlängsrichtung erreicht wird. Besonders günstige Festigkeitsbedingungen ergeben sich, wenn in Bandlängsrichtung aneinander angrenzende Faserbündel Stoßflächen aufweisen, die zur Normalquerschnittsfläche des Umwicklungsbandes geneigt sind. Vorzugsweise sind die Faserbündel im Stoßbereich bezüglich der Bandbreitenrichtung geschäftet ausgebildet. Zufolge dieser Maßnahmen kann die in den Stoßbereichen auftretende Spannungskonzentration verringert und somit die Festigkeitseigenschaften der Umwicklung weiter verbessert werden.
Die Erfindung bezieht sich auch auf ein Umwicklungsband für eine oben beschriebene Umwicklung. Dabei ist eine Kunststoffmatrix vorgesehen, in die wenigstens zwei in einer Bandquerrichtung übereinander angeordnete Bandlagen aus jeweils mehreren, sich in Bandlängsrichtung unidirektional erstreckenden Faserbündeln eingebettet sind, wobei in Bandlängsrichtung benachbarte Faserbündel einer Bandlage in vorgegebenen Abständen wenigstens einmal vorgesehenen Stoßbereichen unmittelbar aneinandergrenzen. In Bandquerrichtung benachbarte Faserbündel sind in Bandlängsrichtung unter Ausbildung eines Überlappungsbereiches zueinander versetzt. Vorzugsweise ist die Kunststoffmatrix ein duroplastisches Flarz. Die Faserbündel können aus Fasertypen wie z.B. Kohlenstofffasern, Aramidfasern, Glasfasern und / oder aus PE-UFIMW Fasern gebildet sein.
Um das mechanische Eigenschaftsprofil des Umwicklungsbandes bzw. der Umwicklung an die vorgegebenen Umstände bestmöglich anpassen zu können, kann auch vorgesehen sein, dass ein Umwicklungsband lediglich Faserbündel aufweist, die nur einen einzigen Fasertyp enthalten, oder aber auch, dass eine Kombination aus Faserbündeln unterschiedlicher Fasertypen vorliegt. Es kann auch vorgesehen sein, dass die Faserbündel selbst aus einer Kombination unterschiedlicher Fasertypen gebildet sind. Zufolge dieser Maßnahmen können die mechanischen Eigenschaften des Umwicklungsbandes bzw. der Umwicklung unter Berücksichtigung der jeweils unterschiedlichen Steifigkeit, Zugfestigkeit, Duktilität etc. der verwendeten Fasertypen auf besonders günstige Weise definiert werden. Zur Herstellung derartiger Umwicklungsbänder kann beispielsweise vorgesehen sein, dass wenigstens zwei mit einem duroplastischen Harz als Kunststoffmatrix vorimprägnierte, endlosfaserverstärkte Umwicklungsbänder zunächst in mehrere Bandabschnitte geschnitten werden, wonach das noch nicht ausgehärtete Harz der jeweiligen Bandabschnitte durch Wärmeeintrag erweicht und die Bandabschnitte unter Ausbildung des erfindungsgemäßen Umwicklungsbandes miteinander über die Kunststoffmatrix verbunden werden. Das so gebildete, vorkonfektionierte Umwicklungsband kann dann in einem bekannten Faserwickelverfahren eingesetzt werden.
Kurze Beschreibung der Erfindung
In der Zeichnung ist der Erfindungsgegenstand beispielsweise dargestellt. Es zeigen
Fig. 1 einen schematischen Längsschnitt durch ein erfindungsgemäßes Umwicklungsband,
Fig. 2 eine schematische Draufsicht des Umwicklungsbandes aus Fig. 1 und Fig. 3 einen schematischen Schrägriss eines Raumfahrtbehältermantels, der eine erfindungsgemäße Umwicklung aufweist.
Wege zur Ausführung der Erfindung
Eine erfindungsgemäße Umwicklung aus einem Faserverbundkunststoff umfasst wenigstens ein Umwicklungsband 1 aus einer Kunststoffmatrix 2, in die wenigstens zwei in einer Bandquerrichtung y übereinander angeordnete Bandlagen 3, 4 aus jeweils mehreren, sich in Bandlängsrichtung x unidirektional erstreckenden Faserbündeln 5 eingebettet sind.
Um ein problemloses scherkräftebedingtes Herauslösen der Faserbündel 5 bei Wiedereintritt in die Erdatmosphäre zu ermöglichen, muss die Anzahl der Faserbündel 5 je Bandlage 3 bzw. 4 so gewählt werden, dass in Bandlängsrichtung x benachbarte Faserbündel 5 einer Bandlage 3 bzw. 4 in je Wicklungswindung des Umwicklungsbandes, und damit auch je Wicklungswindung eines zu umwickelnden Behältermantels, wenigstens einmal vorgesehenen Stoßbereichen 6 unmittelbar aneinandergrenzen.
In Bandquerrichtung y benachbarte Faserbündel 5 sind unter Ausbildung eines Überlappungsbereiches 7 in Bandlängsrichtung x zueinander versetzt. Durch die erfindungsgemäßen Überlappungen können nicht nur die für eine Umwicklung erforderliche Zugfestigkeit hergestellt, sondern auch der Effekt von den durch die Stoßbereiche 6 bedingten Spannungskonzentrationen verringert werden. Vorzugsweise erstreckt sich der Überlappungsbereich 7 in Bandlängsrichtung x über wenigstens 1 cm. Für besonders vorteilhafte Festigkeitsbedingungen kann vorgesehen sein, dass in Bandlängsrichtung x aneinander angrenzende Faserbündel 5 Stoßflächen aufweisen, die zur Normalquerschnittsfläche des Umwicklungsbandes 1 geneigt sind. Dies bedeutet, dass die Faserbündel 5 im Stoßbereich 6 bezüglich der Bandbreitenrichtung z geschäftet ausgebildet sind, wie dies in Fig. 2 angedeutet ist.
In Fig. 3 ist ein schematischer Schrägriss eines Raumfahrtbehältermantels 8 abgebildet, der eine erfindungsgemäße Umwicklung aufweist, welche anhand eines vorgegebenen Wickelmusters auf den Raumfahrtbehältermantel 8 aufgebracht ist. Wie dies in Fig. 2 angedeutet ist, weist das Umwicklungsband 1 je Wicklungswindung des zu umwickelnden Raumfahrtbehältermantels 8 wenigstens einen Stoßbereich 6 auf. Übersichtshalber wurden in Fig. 2 lediglich vier solcher Stoßbereiche 6 eingezeichnet, die repräsentativ für die gesamten auftretenden Stoßbereiche 6 sein sollen.

Claims

Patentansprüche
1. Umwicklung aus einem Faserverbundkunststoff für einen Raumfahrtbehältermantel (8), dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die Umwicklung wenigstens ein Umwicklungsband (1) aus einer Kunststoffmatrix (2) umfasst, in die wenigstens zwei in einer Bandquerrichtung (y) übereinander angeordnete Bandlagen (3, 4) aus jeweils mehreren, sich in Bandlängsrichtung (x) unidirektional erstreckenden Faserbündeln (5) eingebettet sind, wobei in Bandlängsrichtung (x) benachbarte Faserbündel (5) einer Bandlage (3, 4) in je Wicklungswindung wenigstens einmal vorgesehenen Stoßbereichen (6) unmittelbar aneinandergrenzen und wobei in Bandquerrichtung (y) benachbarte Faserbündel (5) unter Ausbildung eines Überlappungsbereiches (7) in Bandlängsrichtung (x) zueinander versetzt sind.
2. Umwicklung nach Anspruch 1 , dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass sich der Überlappungsbereich (7) in Bandlängsrichtung (x) über wenigstens 1 cm erstreckt.
3. Umwicklung nach Anspruch 1 oder 2, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass in Bandlängsrichtung (x) aneinander angrenzende Faserbündel (5) Stoßflächen aufweisen, die zur Normalquerschnittsfläche des Umwicklungsbandes (1) geneigt sind.
4. Umwicklungsband (1) für eine Umwicklung nach einem der vorangegangenen Ansprüche, gekennzeichnet durch eine Kunststoffmatrix (2), in die wenigstens zwei in einer Bandquerrichtung (y) übereinander angeordnete Bandlagen (3, 4) aus jeweils mehreren, sich in Bandlängsrichtung (x) unidirektional erstreckenden Faserbündeln (5) eingebettet sind, wobei in Bandlängsrichtung (x) benachbarte Faserbündel (5) einer Bandlage (3, 4) in vorgegebenen Abständen wenigstens einmal vorgesehenen Stoßbereichen (6) unmittelbar aneinandergrenzen und wobei in Bandquerrichtung (y) benachbarte Faserbündel (5) in Bandlängsrichtung (x) unter Ausbildung eines Überlappungsbereiches (7) zueinander versetzt sind.
5. Umwicklungsband nach Anspruch 4, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die Kunststoffmatrix (2) ein duroplastisches Harz ist und die Faserbündel (5) aus Kohlenstofffasern, Aramidfasern, Glasfasern und / oder aus PE-UHMW Fasern gebildet sind.
