Definitions
- the invention relates to a device for creating a drainage hole in a gutter.
- Each gutter system includes at least one gutter located under the edge of the roof.
- the bottom of the gutter is most often in the shape of a part of a cylindrical surface, but known are also gutters with a flat bottom with perpendicular straight walls.
- a gutter downspout is connected to the gutter at its lowest point, either by means of a soldered neck or by means of a drain kettle. In both cases, a drainage hole must be created in the gutter, wherein the drainage hole for connecting the gutter kettle is provided with a hem which directs the draining of water from the gutter to the drain kettle.
- Both the hole and the hem are created by hand shearing or cutting.
- a smaller hole is made at the appropriate point and the entire hole is cut out of it, proceeding in a spiral outwards.
- a hem is formed around its circumference by bending the circumference of the hole using pliers and, if necessary, a hammer.
- a device for creating a drainage hole in a gutter whose principle consists in that it comprises a lower plate and an upper plate parallel to it, which are connected to each other by four rod guides, on which a movable plate is mounted displaceable, wherein a space for mounting a drive is created between the movable plate and the upper plate and on the lower side of the movable plate a cutter is mounted, facing the lower plate, provided on the lower side with a cutting blade, above which a hemming extension is formed, wherein a cutting die provided with a cutting hole and a hemming hole and adapted to occupy a cutting position and a hemming position, the cutting hole or the hemming hole being coaxial with the cutting die in each of these positions.
- This arrangement of the device makes it possible to create drainage holes in gutters without craft skills, and with its speed and quality it surpasses the usual manual work.
- the drive mounted between the movable and upper plate is hydraulic, pneumatic or electric, with the drive force acting coaxially with the cutter.
- the drive is formed by a hydraulic cylinder mounted fixedly between the movable and upper plate.
- the force of the spring to return the piston of the hydraulic cylinder also serves to return the cutter.
- the disadvantage of this embodiment is the greater weight of the whole device.
- Weight reduction for the purpose of transferring the device between workplaces is achieved by mounting a hydraulic cylinder removably between the movable and upper plate, wherein on rod guides, between the movable plate and the lower plate, are mounted compression springs which serve to return the movable plate with the cutter to the initial position.
- the device allows the cutting of drainage holes of various shapes according to the needs and shapes of gutter downspouts.
- the cutting blade and the hemming extension of the cutter, as well as the cutting hole and the hemming hole of the cutting die have a cylindrical or oval shape, or have a parallelogram shape with rounded corners.
- the upper surface of the cutting die is formed by a plate with a flat upper surface or has an upper surface formed by a hollow part of a cylindrical surface.
- Fig. 1 shows an axonometric view of the device with a cutting die and a cutter for gutters with a flat bottom
- Fig. 2 shows a view of the cutting die and the cutter for gutters with a cylindrical bottom.
- a device for creating a drainage hole in a gutter comprises a lower plate 1 and an upper plate 2 , which are connected to each other by four rod guides 3 , arranged at the corners of the lower plate 1 and the upper plate 2 .
- a movable plate 4 is arranged to be sliding/displaceable on the rod guides 3 , wherein between the lower plate 1 and the movable plate 4 on the rod guides 3 , compression springs 31 are arranged.
- a space is created between the movable plate 4 and the upper plate 2 for mounting a drive 5 which may be hydraulic, pneumatic or electric.
- a drive 5 which may be hydraulic, pneumatic or electric.
- a cutter 43 which is provided on its lower side with a cutting blade 431 , above which a hemming extension 432 is formed, which, in the embodiment shown in Fig. 1 , has a cylindrical shape, the hemming extension 432 having a larger diameter than the cutting blade 431 .
- a cutting die 6 is mounted displaceable in the guides 11 and is provided with two holes, a cutting hole 61 and a hemming hole 62 which, in the embodiment shown in Fig. 1 , have cylindrical shapes, the hemming hole 62 having a larger diameter than the cutting hole 61 .
- the cutting die 6 is provided with means for securing its position for cutting, i.e., the cutting position, and the position for hemming the cut hole, i.e., the hemming position.
- the cutting position i.e., the cutting position
- the position for hemming the cut hole i.e., the hemming position.
- these means are formed by pins which are adapted to be inserted into the fixing holes 63 in the cutting die 6 , which correspond to the holes in the lower plate 1 , which are not visible in Fig. 1 .
- the pins are provided with backstops 7 which serve to define the position and cutting clearance for the cut holes of the gutter.
- a support 71 is mounted against the backstops 7 on the lower plate 1 to define the position of the gutter to be cut.
- the drive 5 is formed by a hydraulic cylinder 50, which is provided with a connection 51 for a source of hydraulic medium, which is, for example, a hand hydraulic pump.
- the connection 51 is usually formed by a rapid coupling.
- the drive 5 is pneumatic or electric.
- the hydraulic cylinder 51 is fixedly mounted between the movable plate 4 and the upper plate 2 , that is, it is connected to both plates 4 , 2 and is thus adapted to move the movable plate 4 both in the cutting direction, when hydraulic fluid is supplied to the hydraulic cylinder 51, and in the opposite direction, when the piston of the hydraulic cylinder returns by the action of a return spring acting on the piston and carries the movable plate 4 back to its initial position.
- the compression springs 31 on the rod guides 3 act as an auxiliary force, or the compression springs 31 need not be used at all.
- a support roller 42 is fixedly mounted on the lower side of the movable plate 4 using one of the known methods.
- the support roller 42 is provided with a cutter 43 at its free end.
- a cutting blade 431 which is connected at its upper part to the hemming extension 432 .
- both the cutting blade 431 and the hemming extension 432 are cylindrical, the hemming extension 432 having a larger diameter. Due to the mounting of the movable plate 4 on the rod guides 3 , the hydraulic cylinder 5 is arranged coaxially with the cutter, 43 or with the support roller 42 on which the cutter 43 is arranged. If another drive is used, its pushing force on the movable plate 4 is also exerted in the axis of the cutter 43 .
- a hole is formed in the lower plate 1 coaxially with the cutter 43 for the passage of the cut-out part of the gutter outside the device. If this hole is not formed, the cut-out part of the gutter remains after cutting out in the cutting hole 61 in the cutting die 6 , from which it can be removed by moving the cutting die 6 to a hemming position in which the hemming hole 62 is arranged coaxially with the cutter 43 and the cutting hole 61 is free.
- Fig. 1 shows a flat cutting die 6 with a flat cutting surface intended for gutters with a flat bottom.
- a shaping cutting die 6 shown in Fig. 2 is designed, the cutting surface of which has a cylindrical shape the radius of which corresponds to the radius of the gutter in which the drainage hole is to be formed.
- a cutting hole 61 and a hemming hole 62 are formed in the shaping cutting die 6 , which have a cylindrical shape in the embodiment shown in Fig. 2 , the hemming hole 62 having a larger diameter than the cutting hole 61 .
- the cutter 43 is shaped so that its cutting blade 431 comes into contact with the material to be cut out of the gutter in a short time interval.
- the hemming extension 432 is also shaped similarly.
- the cutting blade 431 and the hemming extension 432 of the cutter have a cylindrical shape, as well as the cutting hole 61 and the hemming hole 62 of the cutting die 6 have a cylindrical shape.
- the shape of the resulting drainage hole in the gutter is cylindrical in this embodiment.
- the cutting blade 431 and the hemming extension 432 of the cutter 43 and the cutting hole 61 and the hemming hole 62 of the cutter 6 have an oval shape.
- the gutter downspout has a parallelogram shape, usually with rounded corners.
- the cutting blade 431 and the hemming extension 432 of the cutter 43 and the cutting hole 61 and the hemming hole 62 of the cutter 6 have a parallelogram shape with rounded corners.
- the cutting die 6 consists of a flat planar plate fitted with respective holes 61 and 62 and is intended for gutters with flat bottoms.
- the cutting die 6 shown in Fig. 2 is intended, which has an upper surface formed by the hollow part of the cylindrical surface.
- the upper plate 2 of the device is provided with a holder 8 for carrying the device.
- the device operates as follows: To form a drainage hole in the gutter with a flat bottom by the device shown in Fig. 1 with a removably mounted hydraulic cylinder 51, a flat cutting die 6 is placed on the bottom plate 1 and fixed in position with its cutting hole 61 coaxially with the cutter 43 . Subsequently, the gutter with a flat bottom is placed on the cutting die 6 between the backstops 7 and the support 71, in which a drainage hole is to be created, it is set to the desired position and hydraulic medium is supplied to the hydraulic cylinder 5 in the quantity sufficient to move the cutting blade 431 of the cutter 43 and to cut an outlet hole in the gutter.
- the pressure in the hydraulic cylinder 5 is released and the movable plate 4 returns to its initial position due to the action of the compression springs 31, the hole cut in the gutter remaining on the cutting blade 431 of the cutter 43 .
- the cutting die 6 is moved by the operator with its hemming hole 62 to a position coaxial with the cutter 43, and hydraulic medium is supplied to the hydraulic cylinder 5 in the quantity needed to move the cutter 43 into position, in which the gutter abuts the cutter 6, and to continue the movement of the cutter 43 and to shape the edge of the hole cut in the gutter by bending it by means of the hemming extension 432 of the cutter 43 .
- the pressure in the hydraulic cylinder 5 is released and the movable plate 2 is returned to its initial position by the action of the compression springs 31 , whereupon the gutter is removed from the cutter 43 , completing the hole in the gutter and the device is ready for further use.
- the shaping cutting die 6 is placed on the lower plate 1 of the device shown in Fig. 2 , whose upper cutting surface is cylindrical and has dimensions corresponding to the radius of the gutter in which the hole is to be cut.
- the next steps take place in the same manner as for the preceding embodiment for the gutter with a flat bottom.
- the device according to the invention can be used to create different shapes of drainage holes in gutters of various shapes both in a workshop and on the construction site, achieving precise holes with smooth hems at high speed, thus surpassing the speed and quality of manual work that is still used to create drainage holes in gutters.
