  • the spigot 16 may comprise an adapter or adapter element 17 to be connected to the mechanical connection port 13.
  • the adapter element 17 may have another mechanical connection port 18 differing from the mechanical connection port 13, preferably in shape and/or (here) dimension.
  • the other mechanical connection port 18 is exposed when the adapter element 17 is connected to the mechanical connection port 13 so as to mount the luminaire 1 to the support element 100.
  • the adapter element 17 thus allows for mounting the luminaire 1 to different types (e.g. differing in diameter) of support elements 100 by selectively providing the spigot 16 with the adapter element 17.
  • the luminaire 1 is mounted in a "non-flush" manner to the support element 100, as shown by the step at the mechanical connection port 13 side (cf. Fig. 12 ) or at the other mechanical connection port 18 side (cf. Fig. 13 ), respectively, between spigot 16 and support element 100.
  • the adapter element 17 may also be used for the same type of support element 100, e.g., to choose between either a "non-flush” mount (i.e. by omitting the adapter element 17), as shown in Fig. 12 , or a "flush” mount (not shown) between spigot 16 and support element 100 to provide clean lines and low visual noise.
  • the latter may be obtained, e.g., in case the other mechanical connection port 18 has the same size / dimension as the (post-top) size / dimension of the support element 100.
  • a "non-flush" mount may allow for a more flexible application to different sizes / dimensions /shapes of the support element 100, so that there is no need to know the support element's size /dimension / shape before supply.
