Firstly, a dissection on the volar side of the upper left arm was performed by a surgeon, exposing the region of interest, a small branch of the median nerve surrounded by other tissues and covered by a thin fat later ( Figure 26(a)). Due to the similar colors of the nerve and the surrounding tissues, the nerve bundle cannot be seen clearly, which might lead to accidental injury of the nerve if further dissection is performed.

Abstract

L'invention concerne des systèmes et des procédés pour identifier automatiquement des tissus à l'aide d'une imagerie, et plus particulièrement des systèmes et des procédés utilisant une imagerie polarimétrique pour l'identification de tissu en temps réel. Un système d'identification des tissus comprend une source lumineuse pour éclairer une région d'intérêt avec une lumière polarisée, un capteur d'images pour acquérir des images de la région d'intérêt, au moins un analyseur disposé dans le champ de vue du capteur d'images, et un processeur configuré pour obtenir une série d'images de la région d'intérêt acquises en utilisant plus d'un angle de polarisation. Un tissu est identifié dans la région d'intérêt sur la base d'une intensité d'un ou de plusieurs pixels de la série d'images.
